Knocked our socks off! This review is 3 months overdue and I feel bad about that. Went there for our first time on our anniversary. We will be back for our anniversary every year as far as I am concerned. Amazing service! Aamazing food. Lived up to our expectations – and then some!!! Cannot wait to go back for our next anniversary. Highly recommend. Enjoy!

Todd our waiter went out of his way to make this one of our best anniversaries. The timing and service is impeccable with absolutely great food all served at optimum temperatures. This is well worth the few extra bucks spent on a true experience, not just dinner. We’ll be back. Lobster was perfect and starters and desserts were delicious. Perfect portions topped off the meal and Todd volunteered to capture it all on our iPhone.

Went in for lunch around 2, was greeted cheerfully and sat in a great Booth. We were the only diners at this odd time but weren’t made to feel like an imposition. Service was amazing and the food was dynomite. Their 20 dollar lunch plate special was filling, delicious, fresh and an amazing deal. Would definetly dine here again and refer this to friends!

Great steaks and great wait staff. We got in quickly and the steaks are amazing, no added sauces or salts or pepper needed. The steak is already plenty of flavor. Small hints of natural sweet undertones and this restaurant is extremely classy.

Went there for our anniversary and customer service was outstanding. They gave us 2 complimentary glasses champagne and wished happy anniversary as soon as we set down. Food was a mixed bag. Started off with a spinach and strawberry salad — 5 stars. I got the New York with truffle — 3 stars. I asked for medium and it came out very medium well and it was dry and tough. My wife had the sliced filet — 5 stars if I was eating it, 4 stars by my wife. She asked for med plus and it came out medium– med raw. Overall it was good, I’ll be back but will get the filet.

My fiancé and I visited the Capital Grille to celebrate out engagement earlier that day. Our waiter was personable and offered us complimentary champagne for our celebration. The meal was not rushed and the service was outstanding. Regarding the quality of the food, I have never had a more delicious steak. Cooked to perfection and served with a side, the portion was perfect. Ambience of the room was just right. Valet was convenient and quick. Looking forward to visiting again! Would definitely recommend.

This chain is consistently excellent and this location was not an exception. Soup, salad and dessert were terrific. The lobster tail and filet mignon were outstanding and perfectly cooked. A great wine list with a few notable values as well as a large selection by the glass. Service was very good, although our server may have had a couple tables too many to cover.

Best Filet Oscar I’ve ever had. Came here with a group of 10 and we were seated in a private room they had in the back. Our server was by far the most attentive server I’ve ever had in my life. He was very willing to answer our questions on the menu and our food was amazing. I like my steak Medium– but I tried what he called«Medium Rare Plus” — and it was incredible!

Our favorite steakhouse in the Twin Cities. The food was excellent. The Filet Oscar is my favorite entrée. The aged Delmonico is good too. The crab meat on top just melted in my mouth and the flavor of the sauce was just perfect. The ceasar salad was also a good touch. But I would highly recommend their bacon salad. I don’t really prefer bacon but this salad has a wonderful balance and nice light dressing. The salad is large enough for two to share. Great flavor, light and tasty. The lobster bisque is delicious. The service was great, we never had a dry glass. The meal is a little pricey but it is 99.5% worth it. They boast they have one of the best wine lists in Minneapolis and I believe it. Their reds are smooth and delicious. The Coconut Crème Pie is amazing, it melts in your mouth. I don’t like Coconut or eat desserts much but this is to DIE for. Try it. On another occasion, I placed reservations for my 2 year anniversary there. They put us in a small room with 4 other tables. When we arrived there were pink rose petals all over the table. The waiter did a great job in making us feel welcome with a complimentary drink, complimentary taste of a dish, a complimentary dessert, and a complimentary photograph of the two of us. This was my best dining experience I’ve ever had in my life. They also have complimentary valet for dinner.

In the top 2 burgers of my life. Perfectly rare as ordered. WILDMUSHROOMWAGYUCHEESEBURGERWITH15-YEAR AGEDBALSAMIC 8 oz Wagyu burger topped with Havarti cheese and mushrooms roasted in aged balsamic. We both had the amazing burger and also tried the seasonal pumpkin soup. CLASSICCRÈMEBRÛLÉE for dessert was a perfect finish. Service was impeccable. We were treated nicely even though we arrived for lunch wearing jeans and not in business attire. Highly recommended.

Looks like my experience here was an outlier. The restaurant has a 4.5 star rating, but for me… First, the good(4 stars) — décor: not too heavy or too light. Good lively space. Service: good. Our wait staff was attentive, knowledeable without being overbearing. Food: decent(3 stars). My colleague and I bypassed the appetizers, but had a couple of sides to share(asparagus, brussel sprouts). Good, but could have used some balsamic vinegar to liven it up. Likewise, the breads were solid without being excellent. For my entrée, I had the NY strip with pepper. Decent, although could have used more pepper and more of the cream sauce. The steak itself was well prepared and not too chewy. My colleague had the chilean sea bass said was complimentary.

Lunch today at Capitol Grille. Service was first class friendly. The lobster bisque soup was tasty but cool in temperature! The Mediterranean salad with grilled shrimp was fantastic. I do think Capitol Grille has it down!

This restaurant is the gold standard in food, beverage and service. One of the most memorable lunch dining experiences I have had the pleasure of enjoying in a very long time. The server immediately addressed me by name. Impressive. The bread basket came seconds later, bread that was immediately out of the oven. Amazing! The Hemingway Cocktail is the stuff of dreams. The lunch portion Sirloin steak was big enough for a dinner meal. Tender, juicy and flavorful. If all restaurants were half as good as Capitol Grille, the world would be a perfect place. Wow!

A couple infused pinapple vodka martinis, a variety of breads, lobster bisque soup, then bone in fillet, with mushrooms and whipped potatoes for sides. Cheesecake for dessert. All was AWESOME, and done to perfection. Always VERY good, but last night was perfect. Could have been larger sides.

10 oz filet, medium well(gasp), butterfly cut(double gasp), with fresh horseradish on the side. Perfectly done, loved every bite. Delicious bread with seasoned butter is all you need for a satisfying and delicious meal. Sat at the bar, superb service.

Service is always top notch and the food is always incredibly good. If you’re a fan of crab cakes, the lobster cakes are definitely a must try! The wedge salad is tasty. Bread is always freshly made and warm. The filet mignon is always cooked to perfection… and the potatoes! I don’t even like mashed potatoes generally but there’s are some of the best! If you’re working with a tight budget, it’s definitely worth trying the restaurant during Restaurant Week when they offer AMAZING dinner deals.

The Capital Grille is one of the few high end chain restaurants that consistently exceeds expectations and this location is no exception. Called on a whim for a same day reservation and because we were a party of two we were able to get a table at 7:45pm. The corner location in the heart of the re-burgeoning theater district is perfect. As you walk on the bar is in front of you and to the right. If there are seats available you may also enjoy dinner at the bar. The hose teas station and main dining room is to the left. Appointed with dark woods and masculine colors it scream steakhouse décor. The feature is — of course– steak. However for those who want fish or something else there are plenty of options. A wide range of appetizers were on the menu — including a gorgeous squash bisque featuring curried apple that really set it apart. The bone in rib eye was delicious as were the Brussels sprouts and the lobster Mac and cheese. My friend ordered the porcini crusted rib eye finished with a balsamic reduction — that was very rich and he loved it! As if we had any room… hahaha– we shared a coconut pie — it was perfect — an excellent balance of coconut flavor but not too domineering. The wine selection was good and offered a great variety in a range of prices. Settled on a Cabernet Sauvignon. The service was as excellent as you might expect — no need to ask for anything as our waiter was attentive without hovering: truly a lost art these days. All I can say is — go.

We went here for our anniversary and had a wonderful experience. Everything was flawless from the reservation process to the food and service. The ambiance is perfect for dates, and the wait staff really know how to conduct a romantic meal. In the past, we have eaten at other restaurants but none of them matched the service that we received from Jeff and the rest of the staff. I highly recommend telling the staff ahead of time if you are celebrating an occasion. They went out of their way to make us feel special. Capital Grille is a grate place for a business meeting, special meal with your date or even dining alone in the bar. You also really need reservations Thurs — Saturday, the place was full from about 5pm onwards. We made our reservations about 2 weeks ahead of time. If you eat here, plan on taking advantage of the free valet and look at the nearby theaters to visit before or after. It’s a great area of downtown. Try the bone-in filet if you get a chance. It’s not always on the menu, but they have it many times if you ask.

Great Fluffy Muffins this place is stellar! A friend/coworker and I had finished a very long string of very long, exhausting months of work. Just work. No lives outside of it. We both mentioned that we were craving a really good steak. By the time we got home, cleaned up and ready to go, it was 8:30pm already. We chose the Capital Grille with the help of Unilocal User reviews. Neither of us had been there and we decided to go all out and really treat ourselves. This place did that. Beza took our reservation for 9:30pm. She was lovely and personable. She even asked if we were celebrating anything special.(Just being off work!) When construction traffic and the rain made us late, we called back and she assured us it wouldn’t be a problem. Nice atmosphere, a bit on the posh side. The table across from us had loud, rude younger folks and the light from their cells phones was beyond annoying. But even they couldn’t diminish the great experience we had. Our server, Becky, was outstanding! The most friendly, helpful, sincere and lovely person. Without seeing her do it, I would notice, «Oh, my water’s been filled.» «Oh, new silverware is front of me.» etc., Everyone who served our table in different capacities was like that. We seriously felt like VIP guests. We started out with the Prosciutto Wrapped Mozzarella with Vine Ripe Tomatoes appetizer. That was heaven on a crostini. My friend ordered the Bone-In Kona Crusted Dry Aged NY Strip with Shallot Butter. Massive — in both size and flavor! This was freakishly phenomenal and I secretly wished I had ordered it. Just do it. Trust me. You’re welcome. I ordered the most expensive item on the menu(after a $ 99 appetizer), the Seared Tenderloin with Butter Poached Lobster Tails($ 52). I cried a little. Ok, I cried a lot, it was that delicious. Both steaks grilled exactly to our preferences. I mean precisely. Not a single degree off point. Chef Crystal… oh, you’re good. You’re very, very good. The side dishes are enough to share, so we ordered the Grilled Asparagus with Lemon Mosto(again… perfection) and the Au Gratin Potatoes. These, my friends, were not just any Au Gratin Potatoes. These were so good they’d bring Jesus back early. No exaggeration. My friend had one cocktail and I had water. The entire bill came to $ 180. Pricey, yes, but this was an all out splurge for us and worth every penny. Along with the complimentary valet parking(in the rain with attendants who were working their tails off), we couldn’t have asked for a better reward for all the long hours/months we’ve put in. Our night surpassed every expectation. Can you say, «food coma»?

The Capital Grille is my happy place. Hands down easily one of my favorite restaurants in Minneapolis. Everything is on point – the food, the service, and the environment. I will admit that I’ve only been during Restaurant Week, but I would definitely be open to going during their regular service. If you’ve participated in RW, you know that most places are packed and can get a little chaotic. At The Capital Grille, there’s no worry for any chaos. Yes, it’s still packed, but the service isn’t lacking ATALL even with all the bodies in the room. We get some of the best service we’ve ever had here when it’s busy and semi-hectic, so I can’t imagine how great it is on a regular night. Now the food. Good gracious is it wonderful. I don’t consider myself a meat eater by any means, but let me tell you, at The Capital Grille, this girl can throw down on some steak. It is seriously SO good! I’m pretty sure my eyes are rolling back in pure food pleasure after every bite. The icing on the cake is the complimentary valet. I honestly can’t say enough good things about this place. I’ve never left unsatisfied – just full, happy, and freaking pumped about how great the experience I just had was.

Welcome to one of the most well-known steak spots in Minneapolis. I was here for restaurant week and ordered the Cesar salad, filet mignon with the porcini mushroom crusting, and the Flourless Chocolate Torte for dessert. It came with a side of mashed potatoes and green beans. There is a reason The Capital Grille has been able to maintain it’s allure while functioning as a chain restaurant. The food here is delicious, the service exceptional, and the ambiance is elegant. The only thing that was missing was uniqueness — Everything felt standard without any variation. The Cesar salad was a basic cesar salad. The filet was a fantastic cut of meat cooked perfectly to a textbook medium-rare. The mashed potatoes and green beans were tasty. The chocolate Torte was good. However, nothing will remind me of something I ate at «The Capital Grille».

Definitely one of the best steak houses I’ve ever been to. We got a private room for a birthday party and it was just lovely. Such gorgeous décor and the service was PHENOMENAL. Great selection of items on the menu, awesome appetizer options, steak styles and the shareable dishes were a nice touch for those that want a little somethin’ to go with the meat. Our waiter informed us of a few specials not on the menu — Filet Oscar and the Surf n’ Turf. In many ways, i wish he wouldn’t have. Three days later and I am still full from my meal!!! I got the Delmonico steak(Oscar style). You know, when I read it on the menu it said 22 oz steak. I don’t know why I thought a 22 oz steak was not a 22 oz steak. It was MASSIVE. My boyfriend got the Surf n’ Turf(lobster and steak) and I think that itself could have fed half of the dinner party. Great food. THEBESTSERVICE I HAVEEVERHAD! But I don’t think I’ll be coming back any time soon, at least not for steak. Even if I was making big moneyyyy honestly, $ 50 for a steak that wasn’t THAT far fetched from something you can get at Best Steak House for half the price… I don’t know. Although I will have to say, I’d probably just come back for the lobster mac n’ cheese or clam chowder… actually, let’s be honest… I’ll probably be back for both. :3

We came here for restaurant week as we were most impressed with their menu options. I ordered the Cesar salad, filet mignon with the porcini mushroom crusting, mash potatoes, crème Brule. I didn’t like the super garlic bread squares in the salad. My steak was cooked nicely but I didn’t care much for the crusting and I wish there was more of whatever sauce was on it. The mash potatoes and the crème Brule were amazing. Brian ordered the clam chowder, salmon, green beans, and Crème Brule. He liked his salmon and the beans were good. The clam chowder came so hot it was a good 5 – 10 minutes before he could even eat it. This place is very fancy. Your water will never been low you will receive new silverware a lot. They also scrap the table after the entrée before you receive your dessert. Overall, it was fun being in such a fancy feeling place with great staff. Food wise I probably wouldn’t come here if it wasn’t the restaurant week as it’s a little pricey in my opinion.

High expectations always come with big disappointment… I am not sure if the Restaurant Week menu just sucked or if this place is overhyped. Here is a run down of the Restaurant Week menu that I recall: App: Bleu Cheese & Applewood Bacon Wedge, Caesar Salad, Clam Chowder Entrée: Filet Mignon, Dry Aged Sirloin, Pan Seared Salmon with some type of Citrus Sauce(I think I am missing one or two more choices here) Desserts: Flourless Chocolate Torte, Crème Brulee Family Sized Side Dishes: Garlic Mash Potatoes & Green Beans with Heirloom Tomatoes I opted in for Clam Chowder, Dry Aged Sirloin, and Crème Brulee. The Clam Chowder was not creamy enough, and there were too much potatoes. My entire bowl was pretty much filled with them. The soup consistency is just not good. The Dry Aged Sirloin was over-seasoned. It was too salty, and the sauce that came with it is very one dimensional and basically added more saltiness. The Sirloin itself wasn’t as tender as I thought since I have had Dry Aged Ribeye before… maybe Sirloin just isn’t the cut for me. The sides were decent, but it wasn’t anything more than let’s say what I can get at Texas Road House for a cheaper price. The Crème Brulee was good on the first couple bites, but it got way too sweet after. I felt like I was starting to have a toothache. Unfortunately, my favorite part was one of the breads they served before dinner. It was slightly sweet, fluffy, nutty, and had raisins in it! Overall, I guess the atmosphere is very nice, and the service was excellent as well. The complimentary valet parking is also awesome especially in downtown. I just felt like the restaurant week menu was not all that great. I mean Caesar Salad and Clam Chowder as choices for apps? I am not so sure if I will be back or not. Maybe the regular menu is much better. Make sure you get a reservation though. The place was still buzzing around 11pm.

Man oh man is Capital Grille good! I knew I was going to like it when I sat down and all three of us at the table had our own server and each of the servers opened our linen napkins for us and put them on our lap. We ordered their restaurant week specials so we got to try their steak salad(tasty vinaigrette), burger and fries(pretty average but the meat was good quality), salmon(cooked perfectly), and a handful of desserts ranging from sorbets to chocolate cake. I think at one point the kitchen was running behind on food orders so they kept bringing us free appetizers and desserts because we were waiting so long for our main course meals. They were pretty smooth about being slow though so by the time we were done we had completely forgotten that we had been waiting almost an hour for our meals to come out. There is valet parking available or else you can park across the street in the ramp. It’s very pricey here so my recommendation would be to check them out during restaurant week to get the most of our your experience there.

If you’re looking to have an intimate night with stellar service and hearty food, Capital Grille always delivers like Karl Malone driving in the paint.(Knee to the chest, yo!) But f’real, the service is ridic. While dining with some friends several months ago, we started our meal munching on some delicious bread. Being the messier-than-average eater that I am, several crumbs fell on my shirt. However, I didn’t even notice. One of the servers, who spied on us like a protective night owl ninja, saw this misfortunate and quickly swooped by to ask if he could wipe the crumbs off my shirt! LOL! Of course, I said yes… Regarding the food, it’s good, but can’t say very memorable. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed my steak and lobster slathered in butter, and, of course the decadent and heart-stopping desserts, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to have them again. I’ll probably return to Capital Grille in the future, but I’m in no rush.
