The carnitas burrito was awesome. I’m guessing it weighed 1.5# and was delish. Lots of meat with a great balance of fillings. Open late and well worth the trip.

Authentic, simple, fine. What more can I say: the food is great we tried A little of everything on their tacos, service was normal, no flash, here!

Oh Taco Taxi, the holy haven of late-night cravings and workday lunches! If you know what you want, head to the truck parked on Lake and 20th Ave S — tacos are 50 cents cheaper and 100% as delicious! They just don’t have as wide of a selection. Their carne asada tacos are my consistent favorite — juicy, savory, with lime, cilantro, onions, and homemade salsa. Yummmm.

There are a lot of choices for tacos on Lake Street and this place stands out. Tortillas are best. The Mexican style beef tacos are my favorite but the chicken is good too. Friendly staff and easy to get in and out of.

I love coming here at all times of the day. They are open late so its perfect after bar food or just good take out. I really don’t recommend anything other than tacos. I’ve had quac and burritos but its all kind of texmex and not anything to write home about. You gotta get the tacos. I usually get carnitas and pastor Mexican style NOT American style. They are so cheap and the flavor is amazing. The salsa is really good too. They are so cheap and satisfying and they never leave me feeling like its greasy or processes. Just good meaty, authentic tacos. Oh yeah, its a little scary at night lots of prostitutes and undesirables milling around but they usually have a security guard so the thrill and risk is totally worth it for some NOT run of the mill tacos.

Tacos and Tortas were very good; salsa was great; customer service from the chick at the counter not so much.

Taco Taxi is going to get you to flavortown crazy fast and it won’t charge you surge pricing during peak times. I’ll admit, I was a little to hesitant to try this place when I walked in and saw that there was one table of customers there during dinner time. My friend(Jackie C.), who is from east L.A., swears by this place so I went with her to get our taco fix. Girl was on point with her recommendation! I ordered the al pastor and carne asada tacos. The meat was grilled to perfection and the fresh onions, cilantro, and homemade salsa really hit the spot on a Sunday evening. The simple ingredients created such a complex flavor combination! Absolutely loved it. I tried some of Jackie C.‘s horchata and I must say it was one of the best versions I’ve had in the Twin Cities. Here is a little tip… please don’t order«American tacos» when you go there! They have them as an option but that is what TBELL is for! Go for the real tacos and you’ll leave happy. This taco spot is truly definition«hole in the wall» but it’s clean, staff are friendly, and service is fast. The décor is a little hilarious with the toy taxis every where but it has its own personality and is a great casual place to grab quality tacos. There is plenty of parking outside at the meters and right next door is Mercado Central if you want to grab some Mexican pastries, dulces, or Quinceanera party dress after your meal.

The food here is amazing, and the food was done super quick! The menu might be sort of difficult to understand but the staff is great about explaining it to you. The sauce they give you with the tacos is amazing!

My favorite place to get legit burritos and tacos! This place is the closest you get to the real thing. The burritos typically have your choice of meat, rice, refried beans, diced onion, cilantro and green or red salsa. So simple but sooo flavorful. To complete my meal I never leave this place without a large horchata, a sweet rice and cinnamon based water. The staff is also very friendly and the location is very clean. Love this place!

I love their tacos. Sopes are good, but damn, their tacos are on point. If you hit up the truck, they are only 1.25. Treat yourself, bring these to a hungover friend and be a GOD!

Taco Taxi satisfied my craving for delicious tacos and burritos. The al pastor(pork) was made fresh on the spot. The corn tortillas(Mexican style tacos) is recommended. Comes with a home-made puréed spicy spicy salsa, cilantro, diced onions, and slices of radish. Customer service was great-the lady who helped us was patient and explained the menu items. The meat options were reduced to 3 on New Year’s Day: chicken, al pastor(pork), and beef. They have over 7 options normally, including lingua(cow tongue) and tripe for an authentic Mexican flair. Arroz(rice) side dish was a bit dry and had crunchy pieces.

It’s no-frills, but no-nonsense. The people there are fast and friendly, and the food is cheap and delicious. I’ve been going there for years, and I have nothing to complain about. It’s great when I’m hungry at 1am.

Taco Taxi is the most underrated taco place in Minneapolis. The only legitimate competition I have found is Taco Rienda in Northeast, but if you live south of Downtown like me, and want a no frills, authentic, and delicious experience, do yourself a favor and hit up Taco Taxi. La Hacienda is tasty, but Taco Taxi absolutely spanks them in the burrito department. Los Ocampo has an insane amount of food/meat options, but Taco Taxi’s limited options are still executed with much more precision. Las Teresitas has an entire salsa bar which is cool, except for the fact that Taco Taxi’s two homemade salsas beat anything that Teresitas brings to the table. Taco Taxi has the best burrito I have had in the Cities, hands down. This thing is absolutely massive: easily a pound of food for 7 dollars. This is not a Hungry-Man frozen dinner pound of food though: this is an absolutely orgasmic cocktail of delicious, juicy marinated meat(I recommend the al pastor above all), mixed with the stickiest, most perfectly cooked rice(which is cooked with peas and carrots, an interesting and unique touch), and finally, a flour tortilla that is always up to the rigors of holding in this massive amount of meat and starch. It comes with a healthy amount of limes, fresh radishes, and phenomenal salsa. Oh, the salsa. I could bathe in this stuff. The standard red salsa that is given is unbelievable. Smoky, spicy, fresh, and so utterly un-Minnesotan(this is a good thing people, you are at a Mexican restaurant). But… PRO-TIP: the red is amazing, but if you’re feeling frisky, ask for their green salsa. It’s one of those«in-the-know» items, but damn is it good. Creamy, spicier than the red, and a complex earthy flavor. These guys straight up nail it. I am partial to burritos in my everyday life but the tacos are also phenomenal(it is their namesake after all). Filled to the brim with delicious meat, fresh cilantro and onion(if you choose Mexican style, which is the way to go), on perfectly moist doubled-up corn tortillas, you can not go wrong. Other pros: Friendly staff, extremely quick wait times for grub, authentic food(grew up in Los Angeles and Santa Fe, and this place could actually hang there), tasty«fast-food» style horchata, open till at least 2AMEVERYNIGHT! Don’t expect: Vegetarian options, «foodie» questions to be understood(hey man, where is your meat sourced from?), «nice ambience», also, I cannot speak for the quality of their food truck as I have only eaten at the restaurant proper. Moral of the story: Go to Taco Taxi. Enjoy delicious food.

Let’s start by the fact that even though i was never a big fan of Mexican food, Taco taxi made me crave tacos. I have not tried many items but the ones that I have had i can solemn swear on their tastefulness. Chicken Tacos were to die for. Moreover enjoy the Spanish shows playing on the television. What I saw was pretty hilarious for many reasons and i don’t even speak Spanish. The place might seem a little run down but to me it is part of its urban charm. Though i was not really excited when they turned down my gift card but they did apologize for it so no worries on that end. I say it is a ‘must try’.

YUM! Is all I can say, it’s not pretty inside or out but the food is delicious! I got the Asada tacos. It comes with 4 tacos. I like mine Mexican style but the do offer your basic American style tacos as well. Took about 5 min for my food to come out and boy was it delicious! Plenty of meat and toppings! I love the tacos in California and found it soo hard to find tacos here in mn that taste as good and now I can say taco taxi is the place! Downfall is parking, it’s street parking but the few times I’ve been here I’ve gotten parking right in front. Definitely will continue to come back.

Calling this drunk food is an insult. It’s fresh, authentic, and delicious. The only drunk friendly characteristic is that its cheap! I usually order the vegetarian sopes(always 2 for 1) Can’t tell you how often I order carry out… more than I’d like to admit. FYI: $ 15 minimum on credit cards though

I like to lovingly call my neighborhood the barrio because of all the businesses on Lake Street, like this place :). I had always seen the yellow and white taco trucks and walked past this place all the time but never had the guts to go in alone until the other day. A friend and I had a snack attack around 10pm and decided to check the place out because it was one of few things open around the neighborhood. You could call this a «hole in the wall,» but it’s pretty clean and simple. Nothing really fancy about the interior, just something you’d expect at a fast food place. It’s definitely a place you’d go with 2 – 3 friends but no more than that. The workers all have uniforms and are pretty friendly. I was surprised to see the place poppin at 10pm(well, it was a Saturday night lol). My friend and I shared a veggie bean burrito(we hoped there was no lard lol in anything), an horchata, and those crispy pinwheels. We didn’t have to wait long for our food, and it was delicious! The horchata and burrito is something I’d definitely go back for again and crave on occasion. I wished we were given more lime and radishes on the side, but I am sure if I had asked, we would have gotten some. Menu looks pretty authentic and doesn’t seem fast food junky in anyway. They have quesadillas, tacos, traditional stews, and sopes. A lot the dishes are meat heavy, but vegetarians could easily find something. I am definitely coming back to this place. I like living in the barrio: P
