If you have yet to ever try Korean BBQ, there is no other place in MN to go! All you can eat of the best tasting meat I’ve ever tasted. Service and atmosphere is unmatched! Only downside is you leave too full…

I come from Chicago and My friend Carline took me there last Sunday. Before I visit Sushi X, I thought the price of sushi must affect the quality of it, which means the more expensive the better. However in Sushi X, with $ 35(tip is included), I did enjoy a good buffet. We ordered lots of sashimi, NY steak, salmon, tempura, Eel Avocado Roll, avocado roll, Seaweed Salad and ice cream. The sashimi was super fresh and sweet, the tempura was crispy, the green tea ice-cream was refreshing and the seaweed salad was of cleaning flavor. But I still have to say I love eel avocado roll best, the blending taste of eel and avocado was amazing. I don’t know why the average review is not that good, but if I come to Minnesota again, I would definitely ask my friend take me to Sushi X.

I’ve come to Sushi X about six times now(2 times for sushi and 4 times for Korean BBQ). I wouldn’t come here for the all-you-can-eat sushi but the Korean BBQ is delicious! It’s pricier than most Korean BBQ places I’ve tried but it’s the first to open in Minnesota AND it’s all-you-can-eat so I can justify spending the money. The service is good, very friendly and helpful. However, they tend to take over with the cooking so it kind of takes away from the experience, so sad. The side dishes and sauces are endless, as they should be. They have a good variety of meats and veggies to choose from. You can’t go wrong with veggies but personal favorites from meats are kalbi, New York strip steak, and pork belly — all well seasoned, good on their own but even better with the sauces! The soondubu jjigae are delicious but don’t waste stomach space on this, share a bowl with someone! Also tip, ask to add an egg to it if they don’t offer it to your first. The pajeon is so, so good — I’ve tried it at other restaurants that have been more doughy but these are crispy, I love it! Overall it’s a great experience and delicious meal! I’ll definitely be back :)

All you can eat sushi here is aight… I rather go to Kyoto. The rolls here aren’t as good as the ones in Kyoto in terms of quantity and quality. The sashimi is not bad. Probably better than the rolls. I know they opened an all you can eat korean bbq here last year, but have yet to try it. Maybe I’ll give it a try. but I’ve heard it’s a little pricey.

We went to the Korean BBQ and feels disappointed because the quality of the beef, lots of fatty cut. At first l, we can order only 4 items from section A in the menu but we have to wait so long for the second order. It’s not worth $ 27 for all you can eat at Sushi X.

If I could give you a zero star I would! I came here a couple times. Thinking maybe they would pull it together. I was wrong. First time: AYCE. ordered a lot sushi and a few selection from kitchen. Kitchen food was okay. Sushi came out and was covered in «mango sauce». Their mango sauce tasted like old bananas mush. Causing us to not like the sushi and couldn’t finish our food. After asking for the check. Server guy told us he will charge us extra. We said okay that’s fine. He told us we could take the food home. We told him kindly. «No thanks we don’t want it «. He then ran off and then came back and said«okay. We won’t charge you x percentage but you guys take it home» me and my mister looked at each other and said to the server«no we don’t want the food! We couldn’t eat it because of the sauce! We will pay extra to not keep the food thank you…» I was a little weirded out of how pushy they were for us to keep that nasty banana sauce sushi. And of course when we walked out, all the sushi chef was giving us the death eye. Sorry we didn’t mean to offend you. But that“mango sauce» serious ruin the sushi. I remember swearing to not come back because we had such a bad and such an awkward experience. Second time: we heard they offered AYCE Korean BBQ so we decided to give them another chance. Plus MN doesn’t have many location with Korean BBQ yet. They told us. We have to be in a party of 4 or more. Basically refusing to serve us the Korean BBQ option because there’s only two of us. So we opt for the sushi and gave them another try because we were Too lazy to hop back into the car and argue of where to go eat again. INSTANT regret! Our server was the not so skinny Latino. She was rude. Aggressive and basically the term AYCE didn’t apply in her serving handbook. we couldn’t order more because she didn’t let me order anything more after we turned in the first sheet. Even after we ate everything from our kitchen sheet. So make sure you guys fill up those sheet to its full potential because I guess u can’t order anymore after that unless u have a nice server which probably doesn’t exist there. So better off so don’t go there. That whole dinner was bad. Trying to grab her attention was super hard because she would avoid eye contact even after she accidentally gave me eye contact she would pretend she didn’t see me. It was just horrible! Sushi x has got to be the worst experience I have ever had. BOTHTIMES! Save your money and time and just go somewhere else that cares about customer service. This place doesn’t. I would never eat sushi here ever again even if someone pays me!

I have been to Sushi X 3 times so far and I wouldn’t mind going back because there some things that stands out about them: 1. All you can eat Sushi 2. All you can eat Korean BBQ 3. Karaōke I have yet to experience the third one so I can’t comment on it. The first two I have tried, the 2nd one I tried twice. 1. All you can eat Sushi So let’s start with this since I’ve only tried this once at Sushi X. My family loves Sushi and this one was with my brother and a few friends. To be honest their sushi rolls didn’t stand out to me. If you compare it to Kyoto /Akita they didn’t have many options beyond their sushi rolls and sashimi. Their sushi rolls were okay. I did though enjoy their presentation for everything, they took more time making your food looked pretty. I think that is something that Kyoto and Akita lacks, but when you’re paying for All you can eat, the presentation can’t always be awesome. When we got our sashimi(raw fish) there was a flower and a colorful cube that changed colors under it. So cute. One thing I really liked was the sashimi squid, it tasted wonderful and they weren’t shy to give you«REAL» pieces of meat instead of small chunks. I wouldn’t mind coming back if someone was to ask but I did miss the additional food options on the Kyoto and Akita menus. 2. All you can eat Korean BBQ This actually was better the second time than the first time I went. When you go in they have a limit to what you order each round but it’s make sure we won’t waste food. I just remember from the first time that I thought the food was okay. I really enjoyed the Tofu soup the first round but the second round I wasn’t happy. The good is that they give you a ton of side dishes to snack off of. One thing I am craving from them is their bulgolgi. It was very good this last time, very moist and melted in your mouth. The jumbo shrimp were large and juicy. The things that disappoint are the vegetables, maybe they cut them too think or that they just don’t do anything to season them but they don’t taste great and usually are burnt. Why can’t I blame myself on this one for not cooking them right? I didn’t cook them. Even so they have the grill in the center, majority of the time they grill them for you… whether you ask or not. The first time we went my brother thought they were rude because he was grilling and had the tongs in his hand when the waiter came up and just took them from him to continue to grill. My thoughts on Sushi X? I am impartial to them. I do crave Korean BBQ and there are definitely not a lot of places that offers it here. If I had the choice I would go back to Vegas and get Korean BBQ, but that’s not always an option. Their Korean BBQ is good enough where you can scratch that Korean BBQ itch but it doesn’t satisfy.

Really enjoyed our dinner for Korean BBQ date night. For all you can eat for $ 27, this is a good deal. I loved the pajeon and the meats were above average. I felt we had enough time with two hours, but if I was there with a large group, might want to have longer. We also had decent service with a surprise birthday treat for my husband. We were able to get our meats refilled and since it had been awhile since I had done bbq, they were quick to help us out. Next time, we will have to try out the nori bang!

If you’re looking for a grill in table Korean BBQ in the twin cities check this location out. Don’t forget to make reservations on weekends this place fills up fast. Fair prices for all you can eat($ 30 per person) with a limit of 2 hours. The service is great! Super quick service, friendly, and don’t be afraid to ask for more of your favorite side dishes. They’re happy to give you a large amount. Plus if you’re a karaōke fan like myself you must check out their private rooms. Amazing for small or large parties. Very similar to the karaōke rooms in Asia.

came here with my girlfriends to celebrate a surprise bday and it was great! we did the AYCEBBQ and karaōke. it was a great value. food was all good, meats well seasoned for the most part, the sundobu jigae was really great too! our table service was very friendly. after we went into the very clean karaōke rooms where alcohol is included with the cost of the hour(yay soju!) the only thing i didnt like were the actual BBQ tables, they’re are abnormally tall! it was so hard to reach around and pick up the food. I’m not very tall, but the struggle was real. luckily I had my giant purse to sit on. I will be back! might have to bring a booster seat though…

My first time having KBBQ was in CA so I was excited for this place since its the first and only KBBQ Buffet to open in MN. When I learned that they cook the food for you, I was a little disappointed. That takes away the whole experience of KBBQ. Well, good news y’all! You still have the option to cook your own food! Yay! What we ordered: — Kalbi(Beef short rib): Seasoned well. Only thing that bothered me about it was that it was thicker than the usual thin ½″ cut Kalbi which made it take forever to cook. Definitely #2 favorite tasting meat though. — Pork Belly: Unseasoned which was disappointing since I love pork belly. It was a nice thin cut though. — Jumbo Shrimp: Unseasoned. Another disappointment since I also love shrimp. — Bulgogi(Sliced beef marinated with onion and carrots in homemade BBQ sauce): This one was also seasoned well. I didn’t like how there was just too much fat on each piece. Still a good choice of meat. — Bulgogi Lamb: Dont let the«lamb» discourage you from trying this. There were 9 of us and we all LOVED this item. Definitely our #1 favorite for meat choices. It was seasoned so well and tasted so good. It had a sweet yet flavorful taste. — NY Steak: Unseasoned and took years to cook. — Honey Chicken: Definitely sweet. It was too rubbery once it was cooked. I seriously had to chew and chew and chew. and chew and chew and chew just to get it small enough to swallow. Forced the guys to finish most of it so we don’t get charged for leftover, haha. — Mix Seafood Soondubu: Definitely a great mix of seafood. Big chunks imitation crab meat, squid, baby mussels. I was too hungry to examine it well to see what else was all in there. They do crack an egg into it when they bring the soup to your table. I did enjoy the soup. — Seafood Pancake: Crispy, flavorful, good. Didnt have as much green onions on it like I’m used to seeing on these but that didnt bother me since Im not a fan of green onions. Some of their sides included(but I didnt try all of them): Kimchi — I’m not a fan of kimchi so I did not try it but the bf did and he liked it. Dried fish — I did try this and it was really good. I really liked the texture. It wasn’t crunchy or soft but it had more of a jerky texture. It was sweet and salty. I could just eat this with rice alone. Pickled garlic and jalapeño: Sweet and spicy. Really good. Pickled radish Potato Salad Spicy Squid Overall, decent place. I wouldn’t drive through a blizzard for it though.

I feel compelled to write a review about this place before all the kbbq connoisseurs charm in their two cents and compare it to east/west coast bbq joints. I thought it was a great start to MN kbbq; really good cuts of meat, well marinated, shrimp was big/juicy and seafood pancake was on point, side dishes are aight but not a big factor for me to give this place any less stars. The soup was delicious and I like that the servers take part in grilling the meat. We had two servers helping us out(our party was around 14 ppl) and they did a stellar job, getting what we needed, filling up our water/sides etc. AYCE is about $ 28/person, totally worth it. I really hope they keep it up since generally some ayce restaurants downgrade their ingredient after sometime.

A for effort. The KBBQ here doesn’t necessarily induce pork belly with pickled radish dreams… which happens every time I think about Gen Korean BBQ in Rowland Heights, CA. *DROOL*, but it also doesn’t make me regret trying it out either. I feel like if you are having a major kbbq craving crisis, this actually might hit the spot. The cuts of meats are decent and well worth the money but most are not seasoned at all which was kind of boring, even paired with the sides. What threw me off is that they cooked for us the entire time, which I think is half the fun of kbbq. They were fast with refilling drinks and sides and were very helpful with answering questions about the menu. You can order four meats, one soup/person, and a few sides at a time. This doesn’t really cause any issues but if you order the NY steak it takes a while to cook. The service was fast and the servers were very friendly. After walking out of the kbbq area, we decided to check out the karaōke rooms and they are a sight to be seen. I think we will do that next time and I’ll post an updated review to go through the details of the experience. Overall, food was ok, service was great, would I come back? Maybe, but mostly for karaōke. Please refer to the epilogue of this review if you’d like to hear more about the food ordered during this kbbq experience. — — — — – EPILOGUE Pork belly: slices of unseasoned pork belly, pretty basic, but extra bland. Jumbo shrimp: served with lemons, again what you would expect grilled shrimp to taste like. Mackerel: salty, light, fatty tasting — probably my favorite flavor-wise of the night. Bulgogi: sweet and salty, great cut of beef Beef short rib: it’s very hard to mess these up, so these tasted great, sweet, salty, savory, not too fatty. Honey chicken: we had to order this twice because the first time the lady cooking our stuff forgot about it and the second time the grill was still so burnt the chicken just completed tasted like char. 0 stars for this item if it was just a review about the burnt honey chicken. New York Steak: huge cuts of steak but also took 10 years to cook. SIDES Kimchi: not has horrible as everyone said it was, though I’m sure they have tweaked their recipe since opening. It wasn’t sour, it wasn’t sweet, it wasn’t spicy, but it wasn’t bad. I feel like if I was on a flight to Korea, this is what airplane kimchi would taste like. Spicy squid: tasted how the kimchi should have tasted. Dried fish with peanuts: my personal favorite, they are these tiny tiny anchovies that are salty and sweet, tasted great with rice! Pickled garlic and jalapeño: pretty standard across kbbq restaurants, spicy and sweet. Pickled radish: nice balance of sweet and sour. Potato salad: had way too much mustard in it, so it didn’t taste like mild Korean potato salad. tofu soup: authentic but way too bland. shrimp is the way to go if you want some though. Seafood pancake: great texture, fresh seafood, crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside.

Tried the AYCE for the first time and had heard that it was better than Kyoto! That was definitely wrong! They also charge gratuity already for two people. They didn’t have much selection just like Kyoto! Probably come back and try the KBBQ but will not be back for the buffet.

Decent pricing for AYCE Korean BBQ. Very exciting news when I heard this place was opening up. It’s the first official Korean BBQ in Minnesota! Some tweaks are needed here and there for future improvement, but it’s overall pretty decent. My favorite cut of meat was the bulgogi. I tried out the Kalbi, Bulgogi, Lamb Bulgogi, Calamari, and Jumbo Shrimp. The bulgogi was my favorite because it had the best seasoning. I usually prefer Kalbi, but the cut here is a bit thicker. Servers were pretty attentive and checked in pretty often. You have a 2 hour limit to eat and can fill out a sheet to order every time with one of the servers. You can order up to 4 proteins at a time. I ate with a group of 8 and the 2 hours was enough time, however it wasn’t too busy. We had a reservation at 7pm and were seated at 7:15pm. I’ve had Korean BBQ in Chicago, California, and Las Vegas. I still prefer those other places compared to what I had here. I probably won’t be back anytime soon unless I’m having a crazy craving for anything Korean BBQ.

Upon coming in for dinner with mi familia, I must have called at least 3 times to change the amount of people that was coming. They were super about making the reservations and accommodations. I made reservations for 10 and PRE-PAID because I didn’t want my parents to stress over it. When we got there, they greeted and welcomed us to our tables right away, were super nice and explained everything. Service here is GREAT. Your water will never be more than half way empty because they’re constantly, and I exaggerate, constantly refilling your water to make sure you have enough. There’s a lot of sauces and sides, including kimchi, pickled bean sprouts, some kind of fried fish, lettuce, rice, etc. You get the point. You can order 4 meats at a time and and vegetable and soup you want but only 4 meats at a time, which is reasonable since it’s all you can eat. They probably want to make sure you finish it. They bring the meat out and put it on the grill, THEN they proceed to cut it into smaller pieces. Yes, they do all the work of the grilling, you just grab your food. While most places cut up all the meats before hand and let you do all of the grilling. It’s a nice and different touch. They have ny beef strip, kalbi, boneless kalbi, chicken, lamb, bulgogi, pork belly. The mushrooms and zucchini were great on the grill. I personally felt like the meats, especially the ny beef strip required a lot of chewing but that might have been because of how high the temp on the grill was. I was a little disappointed when our server handed my mom the bill and took her credit card when I already prepaid before hand though but that might have just been some bad communication factors.

I had high expectation for this Korean bbq place but my experience was not really pleasing. First of all, I made a reservation for Korean bbq and when I got there, I was told to wait at least 30 more minutes. Luckily the boss offered a 30-min free karaōke. Then we got to the table, which was too high/the chairs too low. It was hard for all of us(guys as well) to grill the food the whole time. When we were grilling, the smoke was everywhere and i could not stop coughing. I give three three stars only because it is the first Korean bbq in town(I think). A lot more can be done to make this place better.

I didn’t even know kimchi could be messed up as badly as SushiX did it. If I were Korean I’d be even more offended. I see all these reviews saying it’s ayce for $ 26, so get over it. I disagree. I’m not expecting anything out of this world for ayce, but I do expect edible food and good service. They cram you into a tight space, and load the table up with all the Korean sides you’d expect. Most here though were not done right. Starting with the most basic, the kimchi, known for giving an extra crisp, crunch, with a spicy/sour burst of flavor. The SushiX kimchi was mushy, bland, and had some red pepper sauce slopped on top. They killed the kimchi. It hurts me to think about it. They gave us a «complimentary» appetizer. It tasted like days old sour tofu. Straight up nasty. The meats were fine, they’re not seasoned or marinated. The shrimp was my favorite as it gave its own self flavor. The sushi was also average, in other words good sushi for ayce. I had an issue with service. Other tables had someone grilling meats and vegetables. We had to do our own. Water wasn’t filled frequently. Each time they came with a dish they would stand and wait for us to clear the table. A couple of times the server kept holding out a plate to me when I had the tongs in one hand, and scissors in the other. Hellooo? Just find a place to set it down and take empty plates away. Just because it’s ayce doesn’t mean you should set the bar low. I know other Korean or Japanese restaurants for $ 26 that I could dine at with great food and walk away plenty full. I won’t be back.

What??? AYCE Korean BBQ in Minnesota??? well finally! And yes please! We had to give this a try since we are always trying to find a good place for Korean and we really wanted to get a BBQ place where you grill the meat on your own in the area. If you plan to go with a group of 3+ you will need to call and make a reservation. Basically, Sushi X converted their hibachi tables into grill stations. Be prepared to sit with other people if your group is not large enough to fill up a whole table on your own(hibachi style). This was a slight negative, it was pretty crowded and we already had a group of 6 to one grill. I think it would have been nice to spread out a bit more and be able to use both grills since we ordered a lot. It gets pretty cramped with all the side dishes and items you need to grill on top of if you decide to order sushi and soups to go with yoru meal. Also keep in mind you have a 2 hour limit. Not sure when the clock starts but it was something our group commented on more than once since we felt service started out really slow and didn’t like that cutting into our limit if that was part of it. Once you are seated, they give each table member a menu, you turn in one to the server with the items you want. They ask you to only pick 4 of the proteins at a time(on the left side) and then one soup per person(listed on the right side). They also have a variety of veggies and sushi items you can pick from as well. First round: We got NY Steak, beef bulgogi, galbi and pork belly for proteins and for soups we ordered the mixed seafood tofu soup, pork tofu soup, oxtail soup and kimchi tofu soup. Oh! can’t forget, they also have seafood pancake so we put in an order for two of those too. Best protein was the bulgogi. The meats did not have any seasoning or marinade on them which made it very bland. Even with the dipping sauces we had, you would need a gallon to make up for the lack of flavor in the meat. Best tofu soup was the mixed seafood, the others were just bland. Seafood pancake was decent, different texture than others I have had but still one of the better dishes we ordered. Pancake was crispy and flavorful. Second round: shrimp, mackeral, lamb bulgogi, and calamari Mackeral already cooked, if you like mackeral you’ll like this, saltiness and flavor was just right. Lamb bulgogi was the most flavorful of the four in this round Third round: more galbi, beef and lamb bulgogi Sushi platter and sashimi platter Sushi was decent, sashimi was fresh and very thickly cut. They give you red tuna, white tuna and salmon The worst was probably the side dishes sadly, which is one of my favorite parts of Korean food and AYCEBBQ!!! Who has flavorless Kimchi? It was cabbage with the red spice thrown on top, yet not spicy and missing the fermented/sour taste. Props to them if they were trying to make their own kimchi, but if you are going to do it, do it right. Overall, unless I was craving to the point where I couldn’t stand it would I come back. Really good price of $ 26.95 per person for AYCE and variety in the menu which is why I was able to go from 1 to 2 stars on this review, but the taste was not there, minus the guy who seems like he is either the owner or general manager, not impressed with the service and staff.

KOREANBBQHASFINALLYCOMETOMINNESOTA! YASSSSSSSS. I don’t even know if I have the proper words to express how this enhances my life experience in Minnesota as a Korean American originally from Chicago. I love kalbi(marinated short rib) and pork belly and a wide variety of banchan(side dishes), grilled garlic, kimchee, ssam(lettuce wraps), and the entire social, interactive experience of cooking your own food at your table. That being said, I think Sushi X executed some things better than others. I loved the pork belly, mostly because I just love pork belly and this one was solid. But the best thing on the bbq menu was the boneless kalbi or short rib. It was nicely marinated and very tender. The regular kalbi was also good, but was sliced a little bit too thin to really have a chance of being juicy. The variety of meats/seafood offered was also quite surprising. I haven’t encountered shrimp or squid at kbbq before, but some other classics like Chadol bagi(thinly sliced brisket) were missing. I also really enjoyed the Ox Bone Soup and their version of Kimchi Jigae with sardines. Some things I didn’t particularly care for was the NY Steak, soondobu, and squid. The service was also spotty, which is somewhat understandable. The entire grilling area of the restaurant was completely packed when I went at 6pm on a Sunday night and the staff was doing their best to accommodate so many requests. But for $ 27 ayce, I will definitely be back! Most likely again and again. And again.

Pros: the sushi is tastes great with several unique offerings on their roll selection. Cons: My major issue is the service and management. There have been some pretty recent changes for all you can eat sushi and apparently there’s no more habachi(which is fine, but it was poorly explained to us by the owner/manager, bald guy who was adamant about me not sharing even a single piece of gyoza with my brother — dude passed by our table and overheard me asking if he wanted to try one, manager responded with«No sharing, because he is not ordering all-you-can-eat. No sharing.» Then walks away. Total lack of courtesy. Like, okay, damn. Anyway, definitely not coming back after that experience. Terrible customer service at the management level. The folks who brought out our plates were really nice though. And… Although I typically wish the best for everyone, I really don’t see this business lasting much longer at this rate.

Sushi buffet can be kind of expensive depending on the day you go. I believe Mon-Thur is the cheaper price and then it goes up for Friday and the weekend. The sushi rolls were nicely made and tasted great! I also had some sashimi, and depending on what kind you choose, they can be kind of stingy or generous. But since it’s all you can eat, that doesn’t really matter because if they’re stingy, you just order more on your next round. They offer sushi items and kitchen items during the all you can eat. Hubby and I stuck only to the sushi side so can’t comment on kitchen items. Also, they plan on doing a korean bbq starting next month to replace the hibachi side of things! I think it’s all you can eat? Not sure, but it will have the grill on the table so super excited to try that when it comes out!

Solid choice for getting your fill of standard sashimi/sushi. Nothing fancy — all the typical most ordered stuff– but it’s fresh and generous. Great martinis. Honestly — if your looking to fill your craving to kill bait, and are fine with what you order 90% of the time, This is is a great option. No complaints– good value.

We normally go to Kyoto when we want AYCE sushi. Thought we should give this a try since it seemed similar in price and offerings. Rolls ended up being fine. Service was good. The main issue I had is I really prefer nigiri over rolls. Sushi X didn’t offer any nigiri options over lunch. Kyoto does. For this reason alone I likely won’t be back.

«Do you want to get all you can eat sushi?» isn’t really even a question that someone should ask me. Just say«AYCE sushi» and I’ll plow my way to the restaurant. Sushi X was very promising, but naturally with so many food choices, there were a lot of highs and lows of our meal. Overall, everything was certainly«A-OK», so here’s the breakdown: Highs: — sashimi: especially the white tuna. The slices were mad thick, dood. — the presentation of the martini: in a stemless glass! I’ve never seen such sorcery. — Price: if you come ravenous AF and get your money’s worth, it will just cost you about $ 27pp — Crazy tuna roll — Complimentary scoop of ice cream: we were offered this right when I was thinking I could use a sweet treat! Lows: — The calamari: the batter was too dense, and the calamari way too tough — oysters: we got a complimentary dozen! But I would have preferred none at all, as I found they were of poor quality and flavor — Though the lychee martini LOOKED cool, it was super weak — Spicy seaweed salad: I didn’t find it too spicy, just way too mayonnaise-y — Stuffed mussels: I took a bite and couldn’t swallow it, it just tasted like hot mayonnaise to me. This is a personal preference, though, so if you freaking LOVE mayo, you’ll be pretty happy here.

Mixed thoughts on this one. I love the fact that it is a all you can eat sushi place, which is pretty rare to find in Minnesota. You can pick what you want to order, they make it for you and bring it to you. No needing to worry about sushi at a buffet being a random assortment, you can order what you want when you want it. You can literally eat all the Salmon Nigiri you can eat for one flat price. So that was a nice perk. Now as for the experience, it was a little odd. I stopped in at about 5:30 on a Tuesday. I was there for a good hour, taking my time eating, responding to emails and such. During that time, I was the only customer there… for a whole hour! Where are all the customers? No one was even at the bar enjoying the happy hour or anything. I thought that was super strange. The venue was partially under construction because they are getting rid of hibachi. No big deal, and I hardly noticed. The décor is actually really nice to the eye. However the floor was STICKY! What are they mopping their floor with? Sprite? The service was not desirable. While it was quick, I felt like I was being hunted. The servers(yes there were 2) were constantly walking around my table. Making me feel really weird. Yes, I know I was the only one in the place, but you don’t need to circle my table 20+(not exaggerating) times. Maybe you could use this time to change out your mop solution from spite to water to make your floors less sticky rather than continually walking around my table. Just a thought… The sushi itself was mixed. It wasn’t cold like I would like it to be, leaving me to think may be at risk for food poisoning, but 4 hours later and I am still in the clear. the fish was more of a room temperature which I didn’t really love. In regards to the options and flavors, I was pleased. They had a good assortment. I came very hungry, so I was able to explore the menu and other than the temperature it was good. The fish was all good cuts(you sometimes see the smallest shred at buffets). I left thinking I would possibly give this place another shot with some friends and maybe at lunch when its a little cheaper, but I am curious if they will even be open given that I didn’t see anyone else eating while I was there.

Like all all-you-can-eat sushi joints, I went to Sushi X with a little bit of trepidation. You just never really know what you’re going to get. In all, I would say that the headline here is that if you are really craving sushi, this will probably hit the spot. This all-you-can-eat sushi menu is divided into two — items from the sushi bar and then items from the kitchen/other appetizers. We found that by ordering a few appetizer/kitchen items and also ordering some sushi, we got a constant flow of food to the table since the appetizer items come up really fast. We tried the tuna tartare, which was more like spicy tuna mush rather than what I’d envision really as tartare. But it was actually pretty tasty. Seaweed salad was fine but nothing extraordinary. The wontons were tasty and the goyoza were average. But certainly passable. Sushi-wise, I was surprised. The salmon was rich and buttery. It wasn’t cut quite as professionally as you’d get at say Oragami, but it certainly tasted good. The portions in the handrolls were generous. The tuna was just OK but the salmon was really where it was at. We ordered several of the rolls and liked them all. We tried the No. 9, the Philly, the Spider roll and a couple of other rolls. All were pretty decent though none were extraordinary. We did skip the complimentary oysters. I just do not have enough faith in the turnover or freshness here to be eating oysters. We had a tough time with the décor. I know this restaurant used to be something else, but the ultra cool modern vibe just didn’t seem to gel with that of a sushi restaurant. It was also a little dirty, a little freezing cold(we were wondering if they did that to get people to leave faster) and a little loud for my liking. Our waitress was mediocre — disappearing for large swaths of time and with such a heavy accent that it was hard to understand her sometimes. Inattentive, at best.

There’s not many all-you-can-eat sushi restaurants available in Minnesota so when Sushi X opened, I was very excited to try something aside from Kyoto. I have now, been to Sushi X 4 times and have yet, to find anything special about their sushi. First off, the amount of kitchen food that they have is very limited and most of the dishes are not good. Their shrimp tempura is purely breading with a tiny, thin piece of shrimp in the middle. Their fried calamari is in the shape of an onion ring and you can tell the calamari is no where near fresh, or real. I also tried their udon this time and was extremely unpleased with my decision. The broth was so watered down, it basically tasted like hot water with a hint of salt. It was filled with tons of vegetables and a few noodles, but was not appetizing at all. Their pork tonkatsu was so overcooked and the meat was dark brown which was really odd. The only appetizers that I think are worth mentioning are probably the gyoza, beef ribs, and crab cream cheese wontons, but even at that, those three are average and nothing special or out of the ordinary. Next, the sushi. The sushi was okay at most. I love spicy tuna a lot and usually am first to order this roll or any other specialty rolls that have spicy tuna in it. Their spicy tuna is a mushed up version of regular tuna with bits of crunchy pieces mixed in it and is not the least bit spicy. They use this spicy tuna in a lot of their different rolls and they all just end up tasting pretty similar– a mushy taste. Also, they do not have regular tuna sashimi. WHAT?! They have white tuna and albacore tuna and we ordered both because we wanted regular tuna, but they both did not taste good and were not similar to regular tuna at all. I also ordered a hand roll and it was filled with an overload amount of rice. Last, the service. The service wasn’t terrible, but not great. The waitress was overall, pretty nice but a few times, we were trying to get her attention and just saw her lounging near the sushi chefs and not paying attention to the tables. I also noticed that we ordered several things that were never delivered to us, so we just had to re-order them on our second sheet. The first 3 times I came here, I was not offered this, but my 4th time, I was offered raw oysters included in the all-you-can-eat sushi price. It was only 5/person, which is fine by me since they’re usually quite expensive– I was excited! The oysters ended up being really tiny and the only sauces they provided us with was two sides– one with ketchup, and one with soy sauce. I wasn’t too impressed. Also to mention, there are coupons available so before you stop in, make sure to check. We used a $ 6 off for 4AYCE sushi adults. Anyway, there are definitely many different better sushi options available in Minnesota that are by far, much tastier than the sushi available here. If you’re looking for another all-you-can-eat sushi place, I’d choose Kyoto over Sushi X.

Fantastic ambiance and amazingly decorated interior. Looks like they put ½ a million in renovation dollars inside. Sadly it doesn’t look too enticing from the exterior but don’t let it fool you! Hibachi was spot on, great tasting food and very nice hibachi chef and server. Will come back. Hibachi plate comes with yum yum sauce and ginger sauce. I was looking for the typical hollandaise(yellow sauce) but wasn’t available. The bar area had tvs, and looked like a very hip place to hang out.
