I’ve had a few steaks here and enjoyed them. You get what you pay for. If you are picky about your beef be sure you order one of the higher quality cuts. I’m happy that’s there a casual, affordable steak place. I’m not so picky so can be satisfied by one of their cheaper, but good sized steaks, and not pay much more than I would for a lunch elsewhere. I wouldn’t come here often, but I think it’s fun to be able to order off a long steak menu every once in a while.

I think the one star rating the Steak Knife has been given is unfair. Yes, its small, greasy, expensive, and way too loud when they have a live band, but the food is tasty, and as long as there isn’t a band, it’s a nice little spot to sit on the sidewalk and munch on some classic midwestern greasy spoon food. What you see is what you get, but this place deserves more than one star!

I’ve been here a few times, drank some beer, ate some fried cheese curds, seen some shows. you know. the Dinkytown usual! My old roommate used to come here a lot and tried dragging me with. I just never really wanted to go! To be honest. I’m really not a fan. The place is small, so on show nights, it fills up quickly, leaving you to stand and eat in the corner. Plus, it’s Dinkytown… It’s a college hangout. Tons of interesting conversations go down here. Tons of people who drink and look like they are maybe only 18. It is not fun. Then you get those college«activists» who walk around and preach to you about God, safe sex and you’re personal freedom of choice. And, it is okay to do that here, since you are on campus and it is important to allow people to do so, as long as it is school related. It really is a bad experience.

We recently stumbled across The Steak Knife’s website and were interested in their, «we deliver until 11:30PM every night!» policy. After being rejected twice, this place can burn. I’d start it on fire myself if it was worth wasting a match on. The least they could do is to update their website. What a joke. I cannot honestly say I’ve tried the food, so this is merely on service and lack of updates on their site.

Touted as «The Best Philly Cheese Steak in Minnesota», I am tempted to drive the 1200 miles to get the real thing back East. If this is the best, I am wondering how horrific the Minnesotan competition is. Gristly and chewy, even as a masochist I could not force myself to finish my cheese steak. The only way that I can imagine that this place survives is in its prime location of Dinkytown preying upon the financially strapped students.
