If you need to store anything, at any time, in Minneapolis, don’t even bother looking anywhere else. This is best storage place in the city. I am in-between apartments at the moment so I had to rent a Uhaul move my things out and put them in storage. Uhaul assured me I would get my first months rent free for storage if I rented a truck. Uhaul was dead wrong, my first month was not free the gentlemen helping me had amazing customer service was extremely friendly. He explained he felt bad Uhaul screwed me and gave me a deal. The Price, convenience, service, cleanliness –everything is how you’d expect it and more. I feel like my stuff is safer here than it was in my apartment.

Bread: Butter: Storage Unit: Creepytown They just go together like a 6th grade Wordmasters analogy. Right? WRONG. I used to think that. I assumed all storage facilities were like the ones I’ve seen from the highway(see my review of Minikahda in SLP for details). I just didn’t know there were any alternatives until… BOOM, non-scary alternative in my face: South Minneapolis Lakes Self-Storage in Uptown. My delight is two-fold… 1. The facility: The flickering lighting in my old storage unit reminded me of that maintenance shed in Jurassic Park(you may remember it if you are a big fat nerd like me). This one, on the other hand(or claw, if you are a velociraptor), is bright, open, with exposed brick walls and a shiny white door. They will also accept packages if you leave a key with the manager(no more boxes on my porch!). It is quite safe, with security cameras and access codes to get into the building. Everybody has their own code and can pull right into the garage for loading and unloading. It’s also affordable for the quality and location. My unit is a decent size(those Unilocalsticks and Unilocal shot glasses have plenty of room to party in there) and it costs less than $ 100/month. The building also houses some MCAD studios, so they also have their own security cameras for extra safety. You might get lost among the art projects when looking for the bathroom… leave a trail of bread crumbs back to your unit if you ever want to find your way back 2. The management: The friendly manager Matt is a stand-up guy. He let me know about a promotional discount, even while I couldn’t sign the papers fast enough anyway. When he handed me my contract he said, «There you are, m’lady.» It reminded me of something Jack Black would say, for some reason. I think we can all agree that’s friggin’ sweet.
