The food was excellent. Two of us shared the bacon wrapped dates, potato samosas, and the turkey burger entrée. We enjoyed everything and the staff was very nice. We splurged and ordered the cookie dough balls for dessert– yum! Very happy and will definitely come back.

Oh miso-braised pork, how I love thee! With stuffed dates and spiced butter coffee you are even better.

The food here was excellent! We loved the sweet potato hash and the basic breakfast. However, the service was terrible. The coffee wasn’t ready and we had to remind them to make it. There were dishes left on tables the entire time we were there(not bused). And there were only three people working on a busy day and time. I would recommend this place for the food, but definitely not for the service.

This place pops up under vegan restaurants while searching. Far from vegan. I’m pretty sure the vegetarian options are not vegetarian either.

What a wonderful lunch, we order the turkey burger lunch platter and the Alfredo pasta. Both entrées were delicious we accompanied it with the gluten-free beer. What a delicious and healthy treat. We will for sure be returning for more sassy dishes.

Just ate here for the first time. My daughter is celiac so we were very excited to not have to worry about gluten and cross contamination associated with it. The food was fantastic. We shared Miso pork, Alfredo and flatbread pizza entrees. All were very tasty. My favs were the pork and pizza my daughter and wife like the Alfredo and miso pork. Very delicious. Added a side of garlic ginger slaw because of the great comments about it. The slaw is very good. I’m going to order the slaw for takeout next time I smoke a brisket. We tried the date/goat cheese/bacon app and it was delicious too. We had three different beers — the coffee roasted ale rocks for porter and stout folks. The pyro is hoppy, the loon juice is good too. We finished with a couple slices of carrot cake. Very moist for quite nice for GF. The cooks and hostess were very cordial and accommodating. Really appreciate when an entrepreneur is willing to include a narrow section of the population(GF folks) for the greater good and is able to produce food worthy of the best restaurants in Minneapolis that is fantastic no matter what your dietary needs are! A great night out. We will be back to try pancakes during brunch!

Went for lunch with two friends and my daughter. We all had something different and they were all equally great. Everything is freshly prepared and gluten free. We shared the dates wrapped with bacon and goat cheese, super crispy and delicious. I had the turkey burger platter with sweet potatoes. It came on a bed of greens with nuts and and goat cheese topping, to die for! The dipping sauce for the sweet potatoes had a tad of spice, really tasty. You go up to the counter to order. Cutely decorated. Bathroom is super Eco-friendly. Great neighborhood gem!

This place gets 5 stars for the healthy, delicious food. Unfortunately it gets 0 stars for the environment. Really, as good as the food is, the setting is just not a place you want to spend any time, and for that reason, I wouldn’t go back. We’re talking bright pink walls, and a cluttered, dyi open kitchen wherein the employee stops the vitamix to come take your order. It honestly looked like they went to Party City in order to deck this place out.

This is an interesting restaurant. I am a meat and wheat eating kind of person, so gluten-free has never been a concern. I ended up here with a friend and couldn’t be happier with my meal. I opted for two smaller items so I could sample more of the menu: side dish of miso-braised pork and bacon wrapped dates. The pork was moist and flavorfull. About enough meat for two small tacos or a large BBQ sandwich. It was topped with a few pieces of pickled onion. The dates were fantastic, and I am going to try and make them at home. You get 6 dates total, 3 on each bamboo skewer. The dates were medium sized, split and filled with creamy goat cheese. They were wrapped with bacon and broiled. The bacon could have been cooked a little longer to finish cooking the ends so they weren’t translucent and dripping with fat. Still, very good. I also had my first gluten-free beer, the Burning Brothers roasted coffee ale. Contrary to the description, it doesn’t taste totally like beer, with a definite molasses taste and a hint of coffee. Not bad, but something I wouldn’t drink on a regular basis. Prices are a little high, but then you aren’t buying mass produced chain restaurant food. I will absolutely come back to try some other menu items.

Great food and comfortable clean environment. Very helpful staff as it was our first time. I enjoyed the Miso Shredded Pork and the Potato Samosa Patty. Some of the best shredded pork I have had. Will go back again

So excited to find this cute spot! My husband is a gluten-free vegan and my favorite meal is breakfast so we’ve had difficulty finding good food for both of us. Sassy Spoon does the trick! Hungry hash was terrific and blueberry pancakes delicious!

I ate here with my wife and friends for a birthday dinner while we were visiting Minnesota, and we were in heaven! Everything is gluten free, even the beer and pastries. We went family style with stuffed dates, pizzas, curry, smoked ham and cheese over zucchini noodles, and spaghetti squash Bolognese(our favorite). I also had a local hard cider made from Honeycrisp apples(my favorite type). And then I had an awesome peanut butter and chocolate chip cookie. Today, we returned for brunch. This time we had eggs and pancakes and I had another cookie. I am so full and so happy right now!

I have eaten at Sassy Spoon countless times… including the beginning of their food truck days. I simply can’t gush enough about their food creations and all of the deliciousness they contain! My favorite meal of all time that I especially keep coming back for is the Sweet Potato Hash(although this one isn’t offered very often anymore… but their always introducing new yummy meal concoctions). Satisfaction doesn’t even begin to describe this meal. While I desperately wish I could recreate the crispness at home to the white & orange sweet potatoes(believe me, I’ve tried), I have to settle with the fact that their griddle is magical. Topping the shredded sweet potatoes and veggies with the pastured fried egg and meat makes it that much better. I really appreciate that they source their food from local farms rather than from the«unknown.» Let’s talk about the fats that they use! They use REAL fats! REALFATS that come from healthy pastured animals. Sassy Spoon is one of a small handful of restaurants who have chosen to stay away from the chemically refined & processed(which is then a near guarantee to be GMO-based) «vegetable» oils and provide us with the flavors and palate-gratification that our fore-fathers & mothers knew(seriously…good fat makes life worth living). While their menu is completely gluten-free, you’d never know it by the fantastic textures and flavors. On one of my visits, I brought extended family along, who would prefer to eat gluten rather than avoid it, and they loved their meals. This is a great place to bring friends & family(kids, too!). Very casual atmosphere where one orders at the counter and brings the number to the table for them to bring food to when it’s ready. Be prepared to potentially walk a block for parking. It’s a busy corner. I WILL be back… again and again and again! Keep up the great work!

This has quickly become one of my go-to places. I don’t care so much about if my food is gluten-free, fat-free, sugar-free, carb-free, calorie-free, whatever-free is trendy these days, but man, the food at this joint is such good stuff. The small menu is fully of tasty little treats, from the sesame turkey meatballs to the flatbread pizza, everything I’ve had here in the last few months has been delicious. The space is open and a little spartan, and I’m not so wild about the chairs, but they do take-out and that’s my preferred option. The staff is friendly and chatty. You will be tempted by the delicious treats in the display case by the register. You will. And you should buy them. Many of them are seasonal, so get ‘em while you can!

This unassuming casual restaurant has a relatively small menu, some gluten-free baked goods, and a few different wines and ciders. l had the miso pork tacos for lunch, which were satisfying and served with a lightly dressed pile of greens. I also ordered a side of sweet potato bites, which, disappointingly, were just cubed cooked sweet potato with aioli on the side. My spouse had the chicken curry, which was served with a very creamy sauce and a load of veggies. Not knowing about gluten-free desserts, we ordered the cookie dough, which was almost inedible. The bill for the lunch was $ 42, which I felt was on the high side. I cannot say this is my favorite restaurant or that I’ll be there regularly, but I am happy it’s another locally owned restaurant in our neighborhood.

I went here for lunch with a couple of coworkers(one of whom has Celiac disease) recently after having glanced over the online menu and finding at least one thing that would work for my dietary needs(zucchini noodle pad thai). However, upon arriving, I noticed a little sign that mentioned they make their own non-dairy«cheese»! While I had my heart set on the pad thai, I tucked this tidbit away for future reference and definitely want to try their pizza next time! The pad thai was good — and they had a variety of hot sauce options(of course, I went with Sriracha) which gave the dish some necessary heat. The price was a bit steep for something I regularly make at home for much less, but it was fun trying someone else’s rendition and it was great being able to eat at a restaurant with my coworker again as being gluten-free has put a damper on our history of lunch outings! I definitely thinks it’s a great addition to the neighborhood, especially for those who suffer from Celiac disease — and I’m so pleased to learn that they can also accommodate lactose intolerant folks, vegetarians, and vegans!

I love going to the Sassy Spoon. I can not only eat excellent food at a reasonable price(all entrees are between $ 8.50 and $ 15 and are hella filling) but I can also drink wine and use the WiFi to get work done in a relaxed environment. I’m also super delighted that there is a gender-neutral bathroom! I’m a celiac and have been for the past 15 years so I know that finding a restaurant for gluten free people to safely eat at is tough. At this restaurant, I feel great(ie not sick) every time I go. If you aren’t gluten free, you won’t be left out because this isn’t a restaurant that has a lot of things trying to replicate a gluten item and failing, they just actually have food that ordinarily wouldn’t have gluten. Also, all the fats they use are ones I like, too: butter, olive oil, coconut oil, and lard! I’ll definitely be there often. Hooray!

Great place! Great food and clean bathroom. As someone who worries about where to eat it was wonderful eating and enjoying the food with no concerns. I had the pork platter and a FABULOUS orange macaroon with chocolate frosting. It was heavenly. The price was right. I was impressed with the bathroom and how clean it was and had accommodations for women, men and infants. The sassy spoon is homey and colorful. Will definitely become a regular.

By far my favorite local neighborhood’y hangout. I love this place! The space is really cute, the food is AMAZING and the owners and kitchen staff are all super cool. Their menu is either completely or near completely gluten free. Everything is home made, made on premises. Local sourced, healthy, but AWESOME! Make sure you try their sweet potato hash for brunch or their miso slow pulled pork, zucchini based pad Thai. Their home made cookies are also to die for. I can’t say enough good things about the Sassy Spoon. Go there now people!
