The food, service and atmosphere is great. Larry, the owner and Helen, the manager ROCK! A great place to watch Gopher games. Free popcorn and the best breakfasts in the cities

I’ve been eating at this place since I was little. They have the best burgers in town. Also they have the best onion rings I’ve ever had. I have no idea what is in that special secret batter but it is amazing. The O-rings are so tasty that we drive there from Blaine to get them! I should also note that they have a fantastic breakfast menu too. We absolutely love this place! My kids love this place as much as I did too. They love to nibble on the free popcorn that is a help yourself option on the bar side of the restaurant! If you are in the mood for a great burger, you must check out this place!

Huevos rancheros with no beans, no rice, no tortilla, but it did have pace picante salsa and velveeta. Came with side of pancakes or white/rye/wheat toast — also super ethnic additions. Service was great! Will definitely come back to get super drunk and try the burger.

Showed up with my mom, niece and brother for a Saturday night dinner. A table of about 5 behind us, who came after us, had their food and finished before we ever got ours. 1 hour it took for my three dinner companions to get their meals– it took me asking another server where my food was for them to get it to me. Apparently the wings were ‘Frozen’ and that’s what it took one hour and fifteen minutes to get them. Lame excuse. Will find another dive bar to eat at.

Mannings is a staple of SE Minneapolis the same way Williams arena is a staple of dinkytown, and almost as old as The Barn too. And if Mannings is the Williams Arena of this area than Hellen is the Goldie Gopher of Mannings. She’s the ever vigilant recognizable mascot with a smile and greeting at the door. Awesome food, awesome people.

Such a cool environment with awesome staff. Great place for a drink and some good food. I got the burger and it was great, my wife’s salad was pretty good. Dressing was not all that. But really, nothing but good vibes from that place.

Where to start with this. The servers are amazingly friendly, the food is delicious, free FRESH popcorn, great happy hour drink specials. This is by far, my factor place to go with co workers for happy hour, our just to grab some dinner. Highly recommended!

Have had breakfast and dinner here. Both were good tavern fare. Simple and tasty meals. Service was very good. Selection of tap beer was better than average. Close to campus and decent parking. Most Dinky town breakfast spots don’t open until later, this place opens at 7 am.

It’s quiet in Manning’s on a Saturday morning for the breakfast bunch. Come here later in the afternoon and it will be quite a different story. Service has never been an issue and I was again promptly waited on as I sat in the historic wooden booths. 2015 will be the 80th anniversary of this Como Neighborhood establishment where not just the locals meet. The brief breakfast menu has what most places have as standard fare breakfasts. I enjoyed the Corn Beef Hash with Hash Browns, two eggs, toast and coffee. The portions were more than I expected because of what I’ve seen at other places the last few years. The coffee isn’t gourmet but is better than standard restaurant coffee of older days as well. The meal was cooked to perfection and arrived steaming hot. The potatoes were just right with just a little crunch but still soft enough to not split a tongue. There are some happy hour and late hour specials listed on the table cards and a nice selection of beers many on tap. As mentioned this can be a very noisy place later in the day so I appreciate the quieter times for breakfast even though there were people enjoying some alcohol refreshments before 10:00 a.m.

This bar is fantastic! Two for ones every night of the week, decent food, cribbage boards and big Naugahyde booths. Too nice to be a dive bar, but too dive to be a nice bar. It’s a great place to grab a couple drinks.

Manning’s clearly has a good deal of history: you just get that sensation from walking in to your seat. I didn’t eat here yet, I only got a couple of beers. Happy hour runs til 7 so that’s already a plus. The crowd is mixed and aside from the tables(there’s another room in the back just fyi) you have a small section of the bar w/seats while on the other side is an older burley dude with a waxed mustache to serve the stand-up side of the bar. I haven’t seen another setup like this, let alone one where over half the the bar is for land standers only. I’m guessing Stand Up Frank’s would have been it, but I moved here after they closed. The bathroom was more pleasant(in cleanliness and smell) than I expected. Everything is wood here: walls, bar, chairs: it’s been around and it’s comfy. Not a chance you’ll find anything close in Uptown, unless you have a time machine.

Was so excited for the onion rings. I was so dissapointed. Not salted. What place that serves beer fails to salt every deep fried item that leaves the kitchen? The cheese curds we A-OK, the chicken bites over cooked, but the mini corn dogs were awesome. The burgers are huge and so tasty. ¾ pounder and fries or tater tots for $ 6 Mon-Wed. Beer in large 32 oz mugs are cheap and cold. Big screen televisions everywhere Really, all over the place. Almost better than sitting in my livingroom. The service is awesome. Fast, friendly and personable. The place is clean and has a few different sections. Patrons included college kids on their computers, people of all adult ages in the booths enjoying dinner to old timers at the bar. Parking in a big newly paved lot. Safe area. Enjoyable. I will return.

I really like Manning’s. I believe I’ve been before but just went again for the first time in ages. The place is just such an American-classic type of joint, a good local watering hole and restaurant that cranks out the good food and good times day after day and until 2am! Props to Manning’s for making life a little easier for the rest of us. The place is so cozy. We sat in the middle room or whatever away from the bar. The lighting was dim and it was a great kind of dim: relaxing and unobtrusive. This is a great atmosphere for drinking but also for that 2pm breakfast the day after a night of drinking. The food is slightly spendy but you get a TON of it, and it’s good. The onion rings are really unique and while I had a couple minor wishes with them(a bit more crunch/crispiness and a little more salt), they were delicious. I also had the corned beef hash and that came with at least a half-pound of hashbrowns, eggs and pancakes. So, BEWAREORDERINGTOOMUCHFOOD. You’ll just have to cut yourself off and ‘get it next time’. Oh yeah, the service was spectacular. I would have to say it was much better than most restaurants. The waitresses were on point with refills; there was never a doubt or waiting on it; as soon as you needed one: BAM! That’s how it should be. I think there was an older lady there making sure the waitresses were attentive and the formula worked wonders. That really pushed Manning’s up near the five-star level for me. If I go during the NFL season and it indeed has the Packers on with sound, it will be an instant five-star rating for Manning’s.

Burgers here are pretty darn good. Not the fanciest place I’ve been but, it’s close to the UofM campus and its a reasonably priced for the college kids. Ok to go with the parents when they come to town, too!

Manning’s is big, and was a great location to accommodate a post-concert celebration for our singing group. We had attentive servers pull together a bunch of tables to seat about 20 people, and as more came in, they were able to get more space for us. There’s a decent amount of parking in the back, and the service was pretty efficient. ESPN, ESPN2, and whatever else on the TV screens(highlights for the week? All about Linsanity…) It was Friday 2-for-1’s, which is always a good deal anywhere($ 4.95 for two Honey Weiss). Their food menu is extensive and serves the typical restaurant bar food: fried appetizers, pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, ice cream(?) I got the walleye sandwich with a side of seasoned fries. The fries were amazing; piping hot and salty as all hell. It was my kidney’s worst nightmare, and my beer’s best companion. The walleye, on the other end of the spectrum, was spectacularly bland. I guess I could have put the fries in the sandwich and eaten it that way. I mean, it was flaky and tasted good(and was as large as my head), but I did have to put salt on it. If they had put the same seasoning they put on the fries, it would have been . The beef nachos that my friend got were quite delicious as well, but nothing beats those fries.
