I was here four years ago and it was the best Greek meal I’ve ever had. After today’s experience I doubt I’ll be back. While the food was still quite good, our waitress was clearly pretty clueless. We waited our entire meal for water refills, and then when we asked about dessert options she halfheartedly said«oh, we have some Greek cookies I guess. And crème brûlée.» I love crème brûlée, but I had noticed crème caramel on the menu, so I asked which it was. She said they had both, and I requested crème brûlée. She brought me crème caramel, and seemed to not understand that there is a difference. While the food(aside from the dessert, which was gross) is quite good, I really hate it when serving staff have no idea what they’re serving!

I have cystic fibrosis and I went today to this place and it brought tears to my eyes… It was the best Gyro ever and the fries the food was very hot and great and fast too .;. I will be coming here now very often and I may even try to get a party to come there as well. Thanks for a great time we love ya :)

Best Greek restaurant in town. Flaming cheese, wow, no other words. We tried the Kebab combo, forgot the name, but you can find it under dinner entrees. Meat is very tender, best chicken kebabs I have had in Minneapolis, along with juicy Lamb Gyro. Also had the Chicken Gyro Sandwich, which was just perfect, again this was easy decision having tried their chicken kebab. Ended with a Baklava which was juicy and crispy. Ambience — 10⁄10 Service — 9⁄10(we visited on Sunday afternoon, so wasn’t all that busy at first when we got our best service, but once the crowd started coming in, the service was a bit slow) Food — Excellent. Want to try their spanakopita, which I have heard a lot of. Street Parking available and being in uptown it’s all classy and upscale. Price range — pretty reasonable for the food but some dishes are expensive.

I’ve only eaten here once and most definitely will give this place another shot. That being said everything I ate was massively underseasoned. The Greek salad was very mediocre flavorless dressing and excessive widely sliced raw onions and the gyro meat just lacked flavor. I don’t even know how that’s possible because almost no one actually makes their own gyro and generally it’s too salty. There was an unnecessary amount of widely sliced raw onions. I also thought the lamb sausage while being juicy and the casing having a nice snap was simply underseasoned. The prices and portions are very reasonable. I had take out so I cannot attest to the service. But I must say being that close to Christos will make it very hard to come back here.

I would have gone with four stars but the entrée was too salty. The appetizers were very good, and on this day, Valentine’s Day, broiled octopus was an app special. That was really good. Their version of Avgolemono is also good. Overall it’s very good and service was good. My entrée was a pork shank w/vegetables special that would have been so much more enjoyable if it weren’t for the salt. I like going later in the evening too so the noise level isn’t so bad but you do risk some of the menu being sold out.

I came here with a large group on a Wednesday, and we were seated right away. Our server was very helpful with suggestions for both wine and entrees. Everyone got something different but a few of the dishes were the grape leaves, lamb chop, greek spaghetti(one of the specials), chicken gyro dinner, and rack of lamb. Everything that we got was delicious. Portions are not as big as you would expect, but I ate everything and was stuffed. The house red wine(I forget the name) was also tasty. Our server was attentive, and the food came out really fast. I definitely recommend coming here!

We went here on a Sunday evening(5:30/6). Super easy to find, right on the corner of Lyndale and Lake. There is a parking lot in back, access from both Lyndale and Lake, but a little hidden in the dark. The waitress was nice and friendly. We(5 of us, including a 2 y.o.) ordered an appetizer, four entrees, and a dessert. Everything was good. Everyone liked, and ate all their food. My boy loved the fries and pita(of course) and the souvlaki. I tried the Greek sausage(I’m not super familiar with Greek food, so it was different to me), it was good, but kind of dry. I probably wouldn’t get it again. We all shared the baklava; it was really good and not over-the-top sweet. If I’m hankering for more Greek food I would probably come back, but it’s probably not my favorite type of food. That would be Indian. :)

Amazing greek food. I went here with my SO to celebrate his new job. We walked in and saw that the place was *huge* and well decorated. We were promptly seated and the server promptly came with menus. We decided to get the saganaki as an appetizer *delicious*(not to mention beautiful presentation). For my main course, I got the vegetarian combo plate, my SO got one of the specials with lamb, rice, and cheese. Both of us were impressed when our meals arrived. The spinach pie that came with my meal was the best spinach pie I’ve ever had and both the vegetarian Mousaka and vegetarian stuffed peppers were *perfectly* seasoned. The downpoint of the meals was… The fries… yes, fries are not this restaurant’s specialty and the fries weren’t great but they were merely…*okay*. All in all, the fries weren’t bad enough to knock this place down on the review. The bill ultimately came to ~70 bucks after adding a 20% tip. For that price, we got a beer and a cocktail, an appetizer, and two entrees. Expensive but oh so worth it.

Omg, this place is amazing! Dustin our waiter was great and the food the best we’ve had in a very long time. The Village salad and the Kotta for 2 a great deal and like it was just made for you from your mother’s or father’s kitchen from scratch. Get the Galakotobourko for dessert, the perfect finish to a great meal.

Beautiful Greek oasis in uptown Minneapolis! My boyfriend was craving Mediterranean food so we went on Unilocal and found out about its Greek to me. First off the restaurant is HUGE we walked in and it took us a while to find a hostess to seat us but when they realized they were friendly and accommodating(I think it was the owner who ended up seating us). We shared one of the appetizer combos with taromasalata, babaganoush, some dip I didn’t recognize, olives, tomatoes peppers and cheese. It was a feast! They brought out all the pita bread you could eat and it was warm and delicious. We has so much fun playing with the various flavor combinations we were pretty full before our main course came.(Would recommend to split a main if you share the appetizer convo between 2). I had the vegetarian combo and he had the regular combo for our mains. The spanakopita had a great texture but could have had more flavor. The moussaka was yummy but I’m used to more cheese. The stuffed pepper was the best part! So tasty — I made my boyfriend try it too. And the vegetarian dolmades were as you’d expect. Overall the food wasn’t the best Greek food of my life, but it was mighty tasty. The restaurant patio was a little slice of Greece and we had a great time! (One weird criticism is the dinnerware. The plates were so thick and cheap looking they classed down the food and atmosphere. From Unilocalers pictures of their food I thought this restaurant wasn’t going to be as nice as it is because the plates let them down!)

I am always seeking amazing Greek food. I am a very picky eater. As a self proclaimed chef — I demand nothing but the best when I go out to eat –because 9 of 10 I can cook the dish I ordered and obviously believe I am better at it. The food was amazing, service was amazing. The place has indoor and outdoor seating. We loved it — and will be stopping in any time we visit the Twin Cities for a no fail — amazing dining experience. Can’t wait to go back again!

Loved this place! Will definitely be returning often. We ordered saganaki to start. Heck yes. I wish there was an entrée sized serving of saganaki that I could order all to myself! After the theatrics of the waitress lighting it on fire at our table, the three of us made quick work of it. I ordered the moussaka, my husband souvlaki, and my brother a gyro. We all loved our dishes, and the serving size for all of us was generous. The pita bread was very tasty and flavorful, and the prices of all the dishes were very reasonable. My brother is a very picky eater, but he was enamored with the saucy rice pilaf that came as a side to his gyro. Parking can be tricky in this neighborhood, especially on a weekend evening. I heard there *may* be a pay lot behind the restaurant, but we ended up taking street parking 4 blocks away.

«Greek to me» is a great place to go with friends and family. The food is delicious, the waiters are friendly and the ambiance is festive. I had chicken gyro with rice and tzatziki sauce. The chicken and the sauce were tasty, but the rice was a bit bland. And the pita bread was one of the best I ever had(and I’m from the Middle East so I had plenty of pita bread in my life!) it’s definitely a place you don’t want to miss!

Our group of 8 came barreling through here after 2-for-1 cocktails… A good amount of stars goes to our lovely server for being so good to us, let alone being able to tolerate our obnoxious/awesome asses. I don’t even think it’s necessary to express what a good time I had in such hilarious company, but I’ll just leave this here: boob-groping, wet toilet paper dessert, Jenny’s hole. Now that I’ve got your appetite going, I’ll move onto the food… The appetizers I sampled were skordalia, melitzanosalata, taramosalata, saganaki, loukaniko, and avgolemono. Allow me to translate: I ate an assload of delicious things. I enjoyed it all but my favorites were the saganki(flaming cheese!) which was so tangy and sharp, the garlic-y skordalia, the salty and zesty taramosalata(fish roe spread), and the loukaniko(sausage) which was, dare I say, «succulent» and«moist». The rice in the avgolemono(egg-lemon soup) was a little too overcooked for me and the melitzanosalata(eggplant spread) wasn’t something I’d seek out again. I was going to order the pork loin as my entrée, but Jenny said that was boring and I strive to live my life up to her standards. So I ordered exactly what she did so she’d think I was really cool slobbering on the same lamb and potatoes. Plus, I don’t think Jessica was up to seeing my loin-eating skills that night. When our entrees arrived, I was surprised the«roast leg of lamb» was not served bone-in. I think it would have been more tender if it had. But it was still very flavorful, and I loved the lemon-y potatoes. I enjoyed all of the desserts, but that wasn’t the sentiments of the entire table. I don’t feel like looking up the dessert names now; the appetizer paragraph wore me out. Though I may be fluent in Greek now. Considering our large party and appetites, service was timely and attentive. All in all, it was a wonderful evening for us and a terrible one for the other diners stuck sitting near us.

I was like Sophie in «Mamma Mia» from the first idea of going to get some Greek food. Not only the thought of it made me happy, but it also brought the surreal sensation of blue water and fresh octopus getting frickin grilled and squirted with lemon juice. Sound normal but ouch. Imagine if we got squirted with lemon while getting scorched. Quite sadistic I’d say. So by now, Sophie has changed into a black leather dominatrix outfit ready to inflict pain. That’s pretty much the night. It was girlie stuff at the beginning — all those ladies singing«Super Trooper» and after several glasses of alcohols at happy hours, it was time for the night to start getting seriously fun as fun can be. Sam W played Pierce Brosnan’ character in the movie version who is also Sam, and Steve D was definitely fuckin Bill/Stellan Skarsgard. Dita? She’s Donna of course or Merryl’s character. It was a musical joy. Anyway, Mamma Mia changed to Mamma Spank Me. It took several more White Russians and the boob groping and loud cursing started. We were the table to be. Those poor bastards around us. I do actually felt sorry as we were having so much fun we felt like we owned the whole joint. Luckily, we aren’t regular there. With flaming cheese and dips that we can’t pronounce, the meal started off so well. The garlic potato spread or Skordalia was so good and garlicky I could ward off vampires. I really loved it. The other dip that was made with eggplant but not Baba Ganoush was also excellent. The Greek Sausage… Uh.huh. Yup. The Greek Sausage. Maybe that was the aphrodisiac or maybe it was the fish roe spread. Or maybe it was Jenny and cream puff combination. Half the table ordered the gyros. Dita said the gyros can’t be beaten here and probably the best gyros in all of Greece. I should have used«Troy» or «300» instead of «Mamma Mia.» By now, after the groping and the profanity started all I could think of was Leonidas in his skivvy fighting Xerxes and his piercings at Thermophylie. I wanted the gyros dinner but received the sandwich. However, it worked out fine as I was super full. I also had the lentil soup that was delicious. I tried Suzanne’s egg lemon soup and I really liked that too. I tried the leg of lamb but I still hate lamb. I don’t mind the lamb in gyros form. The gyros were really awesome. It was as good as being held captive by Achilles in his tent waiting for Hector to the rescue. The desserts. ah. wet toilet paper pastries(aka Trojan Horse) have been mentioned. It sounded and tasted as if Zeus pissed on it. I liked the crème caramel but that’s not Greek. They had all kinds of desserts in the bakery case like Tiramisu, cheesecake, all the things we wished we ordered instead of the Baklava or the wet toilet paper dessert. Oh well. It was the most fun I have ever had and it felt like a movie. It didn’t seem real and wish it never ended. Kara was definitely Helen of Troy of the night as she was the woman who launched a thousand ships and is going to rape the world. Half the menu and half the stuff I ate were a blur. It was all Greek to me. I think they clapped when we finally left. The end.

Quite a nice experience. Our server was a delight– really sweet and friendly and helpful. My buddy couldn’t remember the name of the appetizer he usually gets, so she had him describe it, went through the menu and nailed it! She checked back frequently and did all the little things you expect without being obtrusive or hovering. The mysterious appetizer was a potato-garlic dip called Skordalia– it came with a tomato slice, two olives and some of the very best pita bread quarters I have ever tasted. I started with a bottle of Mythos– a Greek beer. I like a cold beer as much as anyone, but I wasn’t a big fan of this– it had an aftertaste that just didn’t do it for me. The menu is very large, I went with a mixed seafood stew that was very good– A delicious broth with potatoes, carrots, celery, tomato, shrimp and chunks of white fish. The greek music and decorations, plus the attentive service really contributed to a very pleasant atmosphere. A-OK for sure!

This place might have been Greek to me before last night, but, stopped in and figured it out… it’s delicious. Gal I’m dating says«I’m a fan of Greek food, how about we try a Greek place?» What a capital idea, throw it into Unilocal,and this place instantly hits the mark. So, it’s in Uptown. For those not sure what that means, it means street parking or if you’re brave enough to try and wade into the parking lot by here and Jungle Theater, give it a shot. No wait at all on Wednesday night, very nice. Get seated, very well decorated, awesome patio, great ambiance as a whole. Service was fantastic all night. Opt for the flaming cheese because it’s their staple app, gotta try it. Very interesting flavor. The cheese reminded me of a blue cheese kind of flavor, but, the lemon squeezed over the top after the fire show gives it a citrus kick that dampens the harsh almost rotted out taste of the cheese — a very nice touch. Ate that with the pita bread that comes with it, not bad at all. I decide anything with a giant bone in it is game for me, so I naturally run amok with the leg of lamb. My companion decides to taste of a little of everything with the combo plate: Mousaka, pastitsio, dolmades, spanakopita and rice and potato. A maybe 10 minute wait for food, not bad at all. Then my lamb hits the table, and I’m in carnivore heaven. I often joke that I eat like a hyena, well, last night might have been one of the rare occasions where I looked the part too… ears pinned back, ripping into a massive chunk of meat. Truth be told, the meat was tender to the touch and came off the bone with minimal effort. Amazing, and I mean amazing flavor to the meat. The lemon really compliments the garlic and other herbs nicely and definitely works well with the natural flavor of the lamb. From the combo platter that I pretty much ended up eating(almost as a challenge from my date after she had her fill), the Pastitsio was a bit of a miss. Kind of flavorless macaroni noodles. The Spanakopita left a lot to be desired, as the creamed spinach inside was ok, but the crust — the essential backbone of a great spanakopita — was meh. Dolmades or grape leaves, were damn good with a rice/beef mix inside. Mousaka, a lasagna’esk egg plant/potat ground beef dish, was amazing. Great flavor, and it worked really well together(egg plant is sooooooo under used as a whole, IMO). No rush to go, no issues getting water refilled, and overall a solid place. I’d definitely head back here when the Greek craving strikes again, or someone needs a Greek fix.

There are a few places in Minneapolis that have amazing outdoor spaces, paired with great food and great prices, and It’s Greek To Me should be toward the top of anyone’s list when considering a summer Sunday Funday. This restaurant has become a Sunday tradition for myself and my friends, serving what may be the best Gyro sandwich in town. When it’s nice outside, sit on the patio. It’s a great space with great energy, where you can catch some sun, feel a sense of privacy, and still hear a conversation with the small barrier between the patio and Lyndale Avenue. If you are not into outdoor spaces, there are plenty of indoor seats available, and they are set up to handle very large groups. It feels like a family dining room to me, and there are always really great conversations, with a lot of laughter happening in every corner as you walk through. It actually feels like you could be in Greece when you are hanging out here. The service each time I have been here has been excellent, and the food has been superb as well. I know it sounds cliché when talking about a Greek restaurant, but the Gyro is spectacular. Pair it with a salad and you have a complete dinner that will fill you up fast, and keep you satiated through the evening. There are plenty of awesome things happening at Lake and Lyndale, It’s Greek To Me stands toward the top of the list.

Went here last night for a late dinner around 9pm with 5 others and had a good experience. It’s a nice sit down place good for multiple occasions(dates, birthdays, etc.). There were a couple of other groups of people here, so definitely nice for a group outing. I shared one of the appetizer specials(eggplant and tomato based something. Sorry I forgot the name) and the vegetarian combo platter with a couple of people in my party. That along with a bunch of pita bread made a nice meal. I love eating family style and this place is good for that. The combo platter allowed me to sample a bit of everything: dolmades, spinach pie, mousaka, etc. Everything was really tasty and satisfying. I sampled a bite of a friend’s dessert, and it was out of this world. It was made of phyllo dough, whipped cream, nuts, and custard. So good! The menu has a lot to offer for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. The six of us stayed in the restaurant a little past the closing time, and even though I am sure the staff was annoyed by us for staying late and just being obnoxious in general, they didn’t say anything to us, so that gets an extra star in my book. One of the servers was also kind of enough to split our complicated bill. I am definitely looking forward to coming back here. Good food, nice setting, and nice people. Also, a convenient location and easy to get to by public transit. It’s a busy area for cars, so parking might be tricky. Regardless, this place is worth trying.
