The whole time I was planning my wedding I kept saying to myself, «don’t be dramatic, don’t be a bridezilla…»
I did really well until it was time to finalize the music. Instant Request’s online planner was great, but I really needed to see the DJ in person ahead of time to make sure we were on the same page. DJ Justin Ro was perfect. We were very picky about so many things and he was so calming. We chose to upgrade to the Black Tie DJ and use Instant Request because of their up-​lighting and monograms available.
We chose to spend our money wisely on things that were important to us — the music, the food and the bar.
The up-​lighting really set the reception apart from other receptions I’ve been to. It’s worth the extra charge and really cut down on centerpieces and other decorations for the hall. And, the font on monogram they created matched the font on my napkins and coasters PERFECTLY! Not sure anyone besides me, but I was freaking out about great it looked.
DJ Justin Ro pulled everything off perfectly — from our cheesy cocktail playlist to the timing of the grand march and everything else. One hiccup I didn’t know about until the next day — when they turned on the purple uplifting, it was actually orange. My husband looked at DJ Justin Ro and said, «um, it’s suppose to be purple, don’t let Lisa see this.» It was fixed right away.
The online planner is great because you get pick what you want and what you don’t want. So, if someone requests something not on your list, they don’t get it and the DJ just gets to say, «I don’t think we have it.»
Do they cost more than other DJs? I have no idea, but DJ Justin Ro got an extra tip at the end of the night for making everything perfect.

We loved having Anthony as our wedding DJ. He kept the dance floor packed and everyone had a blast. Instant Request is affordable, easy to work with and fun. Great value!

Sam was our wedding DJ and he did such a great job! Even though their online planning system is great, I’m someone who likes to meet in person. Sam took the time to meet with us to make sure our day was great!
At the wedding, he worked really hard to keep people happy and dancing. If he put on a song and people started leaving the floor, he would change it right away to keep the party moving! There were a few song requests that weren’t honored, but I think that’s just how it happens sometimes. Overall, it was a great experience!

Damian C-​Z was our wedding DJ and he was amazing! We had such a fabulous day filled with all our favorite music. It was one of our highlights to look around and see all our very important people having such a good time on the dance floor.
The wedding planning website was very helpful. Instant Request staff were very helpful and responsive when I called with miscellaneous questions. Great company and great DJ!

My husband and I used Instant Request for our wedding reception.
We both liked Instant Request’s online selection of songs and the ability to work out an «event planner» for the DJ way in advance. It was fun to pick out songs in our own home and in our down time, and the selection was extensive. If they didn’t have something, they also worked to get it for you if at all possible (or you could give the DJ your own song to play).
You can also pick out songs NOT to play no matter what, and songs to only play if people request them. This is useful if you are, say, incredibly opposed to the chicken dance or yet another Macerena.
The company itself was responsive and willing to negotiate things with us. They also charge one flat fee – so there was no extra charge for adding an extra mic at the last minute, or getting a different setup.
They also coordinate things like the entrance, dinner music, various dances (mother/​son, father/​daughter) and give you the option NOT to do things if you don’t want to (no dollar dance for me, thanks).
The DJ himself (Michael O’Shea) was VERY friendly and personable. He got our family to dance and blended the right music intuitively. He was also willing to spend hours on the phone going through our event with my husband, and then meeting face-​to-​face for my benefit. Additionally, he dressed professionally and was very buttoned up and prepared – it was nice not to have to worry about this element.
The only complaint I could have is that – despite repeated requests to turn the music down – it was always just a bit *too* loud. (Or it would get loud again.) It got a bit irritating after a while, but hey – it’s a wedding reception, right?
