Food good. Take out ready. Smoothie fresh. Prices average. Parking in back. Location ideal for students. Small restaurant.

Be honest, I would rate it at 3.5÷5. But sometimes they charge auto-gratuity when when only have 2 guests. just doesn’t really make any sence. Food is food though, comparing to other Chinese restaurants in the area. But below-average customer service.

My favorite Chinese restaurant. They serve authentic cantonese food. I love their spicy garlic sole fillet.

I have been wanting to try this place out for a long time. The service was really friendly! I got the Wonton, noodle, bbq pork soup I didn’t really like the flavor it tasted like it had to much fish sauce(too fishy) and the green vegetable in the soup was really hard it was not cooked enough! And also I got the Japaneses Style fried rice that was ok nothing to rave about! I was also going to get the shrimp, egg and chives dish but then she said it was going to be like $ 40 dollars are you insane for soup, rice, and eggs $ 40 so I just went with the soup and rice and that was still like $ 25 that was still a lot! Now I am skeptical! Please is my palette to Americanized for this restaurant idk! I really wanted to like the dishes! If you have any feedback I would appreciate it!

One of the best value Chinese restaurants in the Twin Cities. I have been visiting this restaurant for over a decade. I am basing my review on 4 – 5 dishes that I have on rotation. Ground pork with chives, Japanese fried rice with shrimp, Korean BBQ pork ribs(?), watercress with garlic, and the salty pork and duck egg congee. All are delicious and very fairly priced. The taste and flavors are delicious and haven’t changed over the years. Location is right on campus so it is convenient for students. Limited parking for others. Moderate seating so it can be pretty packed on certain times and spacious other times. Cons: sometimes the level of service is inconsistent. When it gets busy they sometimes try to rush and push you out… Understandable to a certain extent but nonetheless annoying when it happens. Attending with larger parties, 7+, is almost impossible and may end up not being enjoyable. Overall, restaurants will have good and bad days but for the most part it has been good for me. I definitely recommend this place!

I love their lunch special, specifically their beef broccoli. Although their food probably is Americanized(i.e., not authentic) according to a friend from Hong Kong, their ingredients are definitely fresh. I’m a picky meat eater but their meat, at least beef, chicken, and eel, are tasty and do not carry weird meat odor. Also, for those with limited budget, their serving portion is usually sufficient for 2 meals at least for a medium-built girl, like me.

I don’t know how I haven’t reviewed this place yet. This is ALWAYS a stop for my friends and I when we visit the UofM. I absolutely love eating here. Service is pretty meh, but in general I usually don’t expect /too/much as far as service in Asian restaurants goes. BUTTHEFOOD. The food here is wonderful. Prices are good for the quantity you get. Bring some friends and eat it family style! Everything I’ve tried here has been great but I really think they do their string beans well! Anytime I am getting Cantonese food, I always have to get string beans. The ones here have a healthy amount of garlic(let’s be real there’s no such thing as too much garlic), and are cooked perfectly. I’ve gone to other places that really overcook their beans, but these are awesome. I also really enjoyed the fried sole(also with garlic) and a few other dishes as well. My only complaint aside from the service is the layout of the restaurant itself. It’s a pretty tiny place and I always feel like I’m going to hit another chair every time I get out of my seat. Not a huge deal, but I do wish it was more spacious! Overall, would definitely recommend.

I am surprised it took me several years to finally write a review for Hong Kong Noodles. This is literally a «hole in the wall» Cantonese restaurant that offers authentic Heung Gong(Hong Kong) dishes that is packed with generous portions all under a college student budget. This restaurant is also literally right across the street from where my apartment is, so that is another plus! Some dishes that I’ve enjoyed: — Hong Kong style BBQ pork(«char siu» is what the locals call it — it always runs out quick, but if you get the chance, order it!) — Salt & pepper baby squid(this is a classic Southern dish that goes well with rice and soy sauce) — BBQ pork wonton noodles(excellent bowl of egg noodles topped with delicious dumplings and bbq pork — a great bowl to soothe the cold winters in Minnesota) — Golden fried sole filet with garlic(one of the most popular seafood dishes at HKN) — Thai style seafood hot pot(one of my favorite hot pots as it is a Cantonese version of this famous Thai dish) — Eight treasures tofu hot pot(surprising, this hot pot was very delicious. The hot pot is balanced with tofu and assorted meats) — Chicken, duck, & bbq pork with rice and vegetables(a «go to» dish if are sharing with others and /or want to try all the best Cantonese style meats) Overall, I have had great experiences with HKN. I studied abroad in Hong Kong for 5 months and still think this place may have been better than some restaurants over in Asia. The food is great, the prices are reasonable, and the customer service levels have gotten better over the years. I still prefer Shaung Cheng, due to its larger space and wide range of seafood options. However, this is a close second on the UMN campus.

Hong Kong Noodle is a local shop that provides yummy hot pot(and other entrées) at very reasonable prices! They have a diverse selection of deliciously authentic dishes, and not once have I been disappointed in my order. The staff are nice, and they are more than willing to take a request or simple change(i.e replacing squid for more fish in the seafood hot pot). The food is prepared very efficiently and upon being seated, you’ll be given a pot full of warm tea. Yum! This place has a few large, round tables where big groups can enjoy a traditional, family-style meal. They have a small parking lot on the right side of the building off of Washington Ave, but make sure to only park in their spaces. otherwise you might get towed. Other than that, there is not much available so it’s best to carpool if you can.

Five stars for food! Service and ambience are secondary, and better than they used to be. Love the seafood congee! Yum!!!

I’ve been coming here for awhile now and each time I try something different. Their menu is very large, lots of options(like, A LOT) and it can be overwhelming your first visit here. I would recommend taking a look at the dinner specials on the back of the menu. Menu items are all reasonably priced and they come out quick. I really enjoy the wonton noodle dishes, the pan fried noodle dishes and the mongolian beef dinner special. Staff is very friendly and the restaurant is usually packed with students and families.

Food is really good! Top rate! Customer service is mediocre to horrible. I ordered 2 entrees of calamari once and only received one ¾ full container. I purchased this amongst other items totaling $ 119. I was not happy since this was takeout for a birthday.

Delicious option for authentic Cantonese food… but can be on the greasy side. Mango bubble tea here is delicious and made with real fruit. Potstickers are tasty, not too doughy, and the gingery sauce it comes with is delicious. Some of our favorite dishes here are the pan fried noodles with shrimp, the honey walnut shrimp is quite good as well. The house chicken is really good as well. Service is good if you are a regular.

Minus the fact that this place is small and usually always packed, this is still one of my favorite places for good authentic chinese food. I’ve had several dishes from here but my favorites are and will always be what we order every time we go which are the seafood tofu soup, deep fried garlic shrimp, and fried rice. Im not picky on fried rice as long as I have sriracha sauce, but the seafood tofu soup, a must have for me when Im there. In the soup they have shrimp, scallop, tofu, and eggs. I like to put a little bit of chili oil and white pepper in it for more spice and I just love the white pepper flavor. The deep fried garlic shrimp(drools) though, if I could, I can have the whole dish to myself and eat if for the rest of my life. If you’re a lover of shrimp and and garlic, this is one to try. Go get yourself some deep fried garlic shrimp!

Almost everyone I know has been to this place and after being able to avoid eating for many years, I finally came to try it. We had about 6 dishes and I didn’t like any of them. Short ribs: I know this isn’t Korean restaurant, but come on, this was one tough, burnt and tasteless ribs I’ve ever had. Soup: was okay, nothing special Noodle dish with beef: was edible, again nothing special Service: it was really rushed, waiter was literally tapping her foot the whole time she was getting our order and it was unpleasant to say the least. My friends and I felt very unwelcome here. food came fast, but didn’t taste all that good. I really don’t see what the hype is about this place. It was just a bad place to eat. However, the dishes are totally edible just not good.

This is where the Asian eat. The flavors here are spot on especially the personal hot pot. Whether you want some traditional or your cream cheese puffs, there is something everyone in your group would love. The only reason why I am giving it a 4 out of 5 stars is because they have changed the korean bbq sauce recipe… Please bring the old flavors back!

HK Noods! Or that’s what I like to call it ha ha Like many Chinese restaurants, the menu is vast. Over many visits during college, I’ve tried most of the items. BEST: –GARLIC sole filet: like OMG… Cue love making music, the garlic bits alone are –Japanese fried rice: portion isn’t huge, but it is delicious with a little toasted sesame and a hot clay pot –Combo plates are huge and can easily be shared(dinner) The service here has improved, its faster and a little more friendly. The one thing I’m not a fan of is the parking lot in the back. There are seriously more potholes… err craters than an asteroid site. Spare your tires and just pay for the meter parking.

Hong Kong Noodle tastes exactly like traditional Chinese home cooking. If you consider Chinese home cooking to be Lee Ann Chin’s or Panda Express, WALKAWAY! The food is flavorful, traditional and has a giant menu to serve anyone’s Chinese food fix. What Ya’ Need To Know: Parking: Small lot behind restaurant and limited street parking. Accessible by several public transportation options. Location: University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Campus in the area known as Stadium Village. Off of Washington Avenue. Menu: Giant menu with what seems like unlimited options. Everything from cream cheese wontons, bubble tea, legit roast duck and hot pots. Portions are big and the flavors are superb. Hong Kong Noodle is one of the few Chinese restaurants in the Twin Cities that actually comes close to those in Chinatown or Flushings in NYC. Hong Kong Noodle isn’t the best Chinese food I’ve ever eaten but it’s a great place to go for traditional Chinese food in the Twin Cities. Service: Family Run, Fast, Friendly but overly and the staff caresabout the customers. If you can’t figure out what you want to order, ask away and suggestions will be poured your way. Ambiance: Laid back with a classic strip mall restaurant feel. It’s not a place to take your Valentine’s date or impress someone on a first date(unless it’s me). If you’re sick of deep fried, over sauced American-Chinese food, head on over to Hong Kong Noodle and be prepared for awesomeness.

First, let’s start with a little bit of background information. My parents are originally from Hong Kong, and I grew up in Toronto, Canada, one of the biggest Cantonese centers outside of Hong Kong. So i’m a little biased. The location itself wasn’t very hard to find, and the parking lot out back is pretty convenient. There are plenty of tables and several large circular tables for larger parties. The benefit of the round table is that it allows for family style dining, which is the traditional way. Dishes can be easily passed around and everyone gets a good view of what’s available. The menu was pretty diverse, but the prices were a bit higher than I would have guessed. I’m guessing that’s pretty standard though since there aren’t a lot of good Chinese restaurants to select from. The food came out pretty quick and was served hot and fresh. We ordered several fried noodle dishes and the house fried rice. I wanted to use the chili oil that was at the table, but there was no oil, just a ton of chili flakes. So I was a bit disappointed. We also ordered the spicy fried squid as an appetizer. The spices were just sprinkled on top. I wish that the fried squid itself was tossed in the spices to provide an even coating. Overall, I thought it was OK. I’d go back again to test out some of the other options.

Would have given this 4 stars but they have terrible service. They have very good garlic fried sole(deep fried pieces of sole stir fried with dried peppers and deep fried garlic), duck with chive-flowers(duck stir fried with carrots, chive flowers, and bean sprouts) and they do a nice job with the quail appetizer(marinaded in five spice). It’s busy regardless of the service so the staff could care less how long you wait. I would recommend going here for lunch because they are fast and the portions are huge. I would recommend taking a look at the menu prior to coming here because the servers get antsy if it takes you longer than 5 minutes to decide what to order. Parking is pretty easy to find now that they’ve expanded their lot into the liquor stores so that is a plus – stadium village parking is almost impossible to find.
