Too dark and impossible to get a drink at so drink before you come to this place.

My favorite bar!!! Music is always amazing. They usually have a cover charge but it’s so worth it. Drinks are decent prices compared to other bars I’ve been to in the area. Come to honey, you won’t regret it!

I come here more often than I should. Love the DJ’s that perform, music is always good, the owner is awesome, full bar, but the layout of the space is pretty under-thought. The only bar is in an area where heavy traffic is all around, making it almost impossible to get a drink even when it’s not that busy. The entrances to the main room for dancing are usually super congested especially when packed. But even with layout issues, this spot is still a frequent pick for friends and I to go out to. TURNTUP, 70’s nights, etc. are the bestt.

90s hip hop on Saturdays! Crazy place reminded me of college in Chicago. Don’t even try ordering a drink because there are so many people trying to order, and not enough bartenders(poor guys). It gets hot, so don’t wear long sleeves or you’re going to get really really sweaty. Looking for a fun time dancing? Get over here.

The location of Honey is perfect, but this place could be so much better if they played better, Northeast Friendly Music. It is officially in Northeast Minneapolis but I am almost certain there are sub groups of U of M students who test the waters of this Underground House Party/Bar Scene weekly. It is normally hit or miss when my friends and I go, Saturday’s are better than Friday’s. This place feels like the un-official, official Club of Northeast Minneapolis. This place markets itself as a Dance Club but they consistently play 90’s Jams, so over time, an older crowd has begun to take shape on Friday’s and Saturdays. A decent place to go for a Make Out, Grinding or possibly one night stand opportunity.

Definitely my favorite dance bar in the area. It has good music and flip phone is hilarious/wonderful. The dance floor has enough room where you can find corners away from creepy dudes, there are a lot there. There are also some super fun people! Such a mixture of people, ages, music and styles. It’s pretty cool. I always come from work and am wearing my Birkenstocks and no one seems to mind. There is also a smokin’ hot bouncer there who is super kind and showed me where the secret bathroom is, always a plus.

Honey is cool bar, that reminds me of a lot of bars I have been to in New York City. 1. It’s in a basement 2. Some of it is really swanking and nice,(cool booths, benches, tables, yes they light CANDLES) 3. Some of it is completely divey… aka the bathrooms! 4. Drink prices are a bit high, but the bartender is buff and very nice! 5. Good Sound system. They do a lot dance parties here and rock shows. There is a restaurant upstairs that serves great food and you can have it delivered down to Honey if you are chilling or watching a show. I recommend the vegan tofu yellow curry! I have been here 3 times and all 3 times were great so I say 4 giant stars Honey!

The only reason why this gets a one star review is that the music is decent and the staff«tried» to help out the situation. It was a good night until the bartender accused us of steeling her tips/not tipping her. First of all, me and my partner have been in the service industry so we would NEVERNOT tip. Second of all, that we would«steal» is a horrendous accusation in which you had ZERO proof for and our friends could confirm this. She was relishing(even smiling and laughing, extremely insulting) at the fact she wouldn’t serve us because she believed these completely false accusations. We informed the manager/owner(who was the most compassionate, so kudos) which seemed hopeful. I also overheard the front of house staff say that they thought«It would be easier» to compensate us with a free drink rather than us leave… this experience insured us we will never come back again… which is a shame since we loved some of the dance nights so much. We will never be back again!!!

I suggest everyone have at least one exciting drunken experience at Honey. Any time I’ve gone there, it’s always been something different. Meaning, the dance floor is really packed playing a certain genre of music, or it’s a calmer night with a cool atmosphere going on in the lounge. The club essentially is a basement; you’ll walk down or wait on a row of stairs to get in. There is also a fee around $ 5 to get in. I believe Honey has a time and purpose for going. It’s definitely somewhere you don’t want to go completely sober. Depending on how busy it is, the dance floor can be packed, which makes it a ton of fun. But, other times it’s not and there’s weird men hovering between the lounge and emptied dance floor. Also, expect expensive drinks(like most places)! I bought two shots of vodka and it was $ 18! Overall, it’s a spot to visit and get your groove on, at least for a little bit! Bottom line: Honey can be a hit or miss, depending on the night. But either way a fun dance club to get jiggy with it!

Cool atmosphere since it is downstairs. Brick walls, low ceilings, and fun dance music makes it seem like you are back in college at a house party. Have been a few nights when it was DJ Otto and the music was very fun! Lots of old school hip hop. Definitely danced most of the night. Didn’t have to wait long to order drinks at the bar and rarely had to wait in line at the bathroom. Only negative experience was they gave me the wrong coat back during coat check and when I told them it was the wrong coat they said they couldn’t find mine — which was a bit upsetting that an expensive winter jacket was misplaced and they had no idea where it was. They ended up calling me after I had left and said that they thought my ticket was«#19» but it was actually«#61» Seems like they should have a better system in place so I wouldn’t have had to spend half an hour searching for my coat and then have to go in the next day to pick it up. I understand this is probably uncommon and will not happen to many people but it did affect my experience that night and was frustrating to deal with.

Too«chill» for my taste and it is so dark in there it’s like you are locked in a tiny little closet constantly searching for the string to pull the light. Last time I was there I had some fancy spicy chocolate which I must say was pretty good but their cover charge is much too steep for the small space. The late night bouncers aren’t the friendliest but then again, there’s probably a reason why. There’s a parking ramp right behind the building or else a $ 5 charge to park in the Kramarcyk lot.

This place is… interesting. It almost feels as if there are two separate bars– the first, a trendy, but quiet nightclubesque vibe, and the second your grandma’s blacked out basement. We were there on a Wednesday night, so there was plenty of room to move around, and plenty of places to sit. The seating areas were super comfy and kind of a sexy place to bring a date and have a chocolate flight(didn’t have one but they sounded amazing!). Their drink menu looks very intriguing– I opted for wine that night, but would honestly come back just to try out a couple drinks. The bar itself is beautiful and if the whole place just ended at the far end of the bar, I would probably rate Honey higher. But then… just past this beautiful bar… comes…the back area. Oy. It seriously looks like someone moved into my grandma’s basement, painted the walls black, and put in some moderately attractive pleather furniture. In one corner is a clearly hand built stage, which is fine, but the scraggly, unkempt drunkies on folding chairs surrounding the stage just added to the weird vibe. I honestly kept looking to one corner of the room expecting to see my grandma’s washer and dryer, ready to change loads of laundry. Just a weird, hard to describe area. The back space that night was being used for a freestyle rap show, and the performers were really good. But again, just added to the strange vibe, it felt like there were two separate ideas trying so hard to be classy and ghetto at the same time. I would go back here if I had a group of friends already going, mainly to try some of the cocktails and maybe a chocolate flight, but I wouldn’t go back on my own.

You grind all night to the bass bumpin’ beat from that old school jam you haven’t heard in FOREVER. You know, like, Black Street’s «No Diggity» or 69 Boyz’ «Tootsie Roll.» You’re hardcore crushin’ on her. She’s feeling you. Then the 2AM bright lights turn on, and she’s… not… cute. S***. Essentially, this is the story of just about every weekend in my early twenties. Going out to the club, meeting folks, and adding new friends to your crew. One of the places that I used to get down a lot at is, of course, Honey. The joint is essentially separated into three spaces: 1) dance floor; 2) lounge in the back of the dance floor; and 3) the main lounge. When the music is right(shout out to the man, King Otto), the place is slammin’. When Top 40 DJs roll through, Honey transforms into an über lame basement. But fear not, drinks are reasonable and pack just the right punch. You can get drunk enough to dance to any track, except anything that’s a house remix of a pop song. My hommies and I used to go there to break on funk nights, but I’m not sure if they still do that anymore. If you want to know what’s good, you can peep all their events here: . And at honey, you’ll see just about everything there: homegirls throwing up in the lounge area, people making out by the DJ, that one dude passed out on the oval-shaped flat cushion seat-thing that resides underneath the chandelier(me), and most importantly, peeps having a good-ass time. Honey has lost a bit of its luster, but if a friend hit me up and asked me to roll out there this weekend, it would be hard for me refuse to go.

PARTAYINDABASEMENT! A friend had his birthday party in the Thai restaurant upstairs and we headed downstairs to Honey around 10:30 on a Saturday night. There’s a($ 5) cover to get in. There is a coat check(also not free), which is fairly necessary in Minnesota. More than one person in our group remarked«I feel like I’m in the basement at a house party.» Indeed. Honey is a bit small and I could see it getting really hot in the summer. It didn’t take too long to get drinks at the bar. But there was a long line for the women’s restroom. I think there are only two stalls. People were dancing(my boyfriend showed off his pole dancing and twerking skillz), and the dance floor really filled up as the bar got more crowded. You will probably feel a little old if you are in your 30s or more. The crowd was fairly diverse in other ways. It wasn’t very full when we arrived, but there was a line out the door when we left. Honey won’t be on my go — to list when I want to go out dancing, but I would go back if someone invited me.

The underground dance floor with hip hop music blasting is the place to be on Saturday nights. The beers were reasonably priced and the place had a great vibe with everyone having a great time.

Went here on a Saturday night, which is 90’s night. The music was fine but is was extremely crowded and there was broken glass everywhere. The drinks were a good price though but there is a $ 5 cover at the front. It is a pretty small place so it is really hard to dance so I don’t know if I will rush back unless I got there before the masses!

Honey itself is the weirdest mix. Think basement house party meets classy NY club with chandeliers and illuminated bars. Think bachelorette parties and hipsters and college students and rap crews. The weirdest part of it all is that it works so well. Honey is the place to go when you feel like getting drunk, doing some dancing, and having one unpredictable night.(From HBO’s GIRLS: «I want this to be one of those nights where it’s 5AM and one of us has definitely punched someone who was on a Disney channel show.» I digress.) Good drinks, nice bartenders. Basement can be very cold in the winter. Hands High and House Party 97 are probably my favorites(think Get Cryphy). Have to check out other nights though, too– they have a wide mix of DJs and genres. My favorite Honey experience? Seeing Doomtree’s Dessa sitting on the couch next to me as we both jammed to the DJ.

Honey, I love you. You try to be a bit fancy(oh, you fancy, huh?) with your chocolate flights and bourbon cocktails. But to me you are best when I feel like I am at a house party in someone’s basement. 90s hip-hip, smart DJs and Red Stripe on tap makes me a happy, happy girl. I’m okay with your identity crisis, even when it attracts moms from the suburbs and people who have never heard of ATCQ or Mos Def. The space is a little weird, but that doesn’t deter me. I’m here for the dance floor and the good music.
