Maybe some of thier other offerings are good but when an Oriental place fails to get fried rice right they sort of lose my interest. I didn’t care much at all for thier beef fried rice and haven’t really cared to return. The only good thing about the place was the service, very nice people. The prices are fairly low, although saving a dollar here just ain’t worth the bad taste in your mouth, and they don’t make up for it with a neat dining atmosphere either. Maybe if I lived closer to here I’d find myself returning out of convenience but there are so many better Chinese Take Out places for the same price, even lower in the Downtown area, such as the Shanghai Wok. To me there’s just no point in coming here and since I would’nt go to the Global Market for something as ordinary as Chinese takeout anyway, can’t see why the one reviewer would consider this a alternative to what was lamely joked ‘the global markup’ in the review. In my opinion you’d have to be pretty cheap if you’d go to the Global Market only to eat here instead to save a couple bucks on something that is offered there.

This place is a great alternative if you are used to getting lunch in the global markup(market). It is a tiny hole in the wall next to the gun shop and a few stores away from Bling Bling Beauty Supply. The lunch specials are great and affordable. If you are used to getting Asian lunch in the global markup, you know that it can cost you close to $ 10.00 and the only Asian place in there is Phams, which has no flavor. Fortune cookie has lots of flavor, and actually has spice to it, which I have not found in any of the Asian places in the global markup. The lunch special can run you about $ 5.30 which is extremely filling. For the lunch specials you get the special that you ordered, rice(steamed or fried), a appetizer(egg roll or fried wonton), and of course a fortune cookie. The girl behind the counter is always chipper and nice. The wait for the food is usually very good(around 5 – 10 minutes). If you work at the midtown exchange building and normally stay inside and stay in the global markup, take a bit of a walk and go to fortune cookie, trust me you will keep going back! The only bad thing about this place is that they keep changing their menu and the prices have been changed a few times in the past 6 months.

This is a tiny takeout Chinese place in the«Midtown» neighborhood. It’s in a pretty crappy area. Hipsters might say it’s «gritty». It’s not. If I were a hipster I would avoid this area by the transit station. As far as parking, I found a spot next door in front of the gun store… They advertised the place as «New York» style Chinese. Great! After my experience at the first place I tried in MN, I was thinking this would be a lot better. The food wasn’t too expensive and the girl at the register was very nice. However, this place tasted just like that dump«Chinese Express» down on Lake street. Maybe it’s me and I have taken Chicago style Chinese for granted. ***I had the egg drop soup, egg roll, and cashew chicken.$ 8.24***
