Éthique Nouveau

This is a great boutique to pick up unique gifts for yourself or someone else. As a vegan, I love the selection of animal-​friendly accessories and products – and they’ve got some great snacks too!

I love and miss this store (and the Animal Rights Coalition, itself). Lots of great products for humans and animal companions. I really love the candy section and those great locally-​made solid perfumes. The art is phenomenal. I have eyed that cow canvas print forever. So beautiful!
I don’t really understand some of the negative comments being made? The «staff» (aka unpaid volunteers) are incredibly friendly, passionate people.
Some of the stickers and buttons make non-​vegans feel excluded? Welcome to the life of a vegan in a bacon-​obsessed world. It is a VEGAN store after all. This is the only completely vegan shop in the area, so let us have this.

Ethique Nouveau is a cute little boutique here in Minneapolis. All of their products are vegan and you wouldn’t really assume that when you walk in, they have a lot of high-​end clothing and accessories that are organic and vegan. They have a great book selection with various cookbooks, children’s books, and self-​help. They are a non-​profit and all of the money they make goes to supporting animal rights. So if you’re ever in the area drop by this boutique and I am sure you’ll find something special and cruelty-​free!

I had been wanting to go to this store ever since I heard it opened. I was disappointed to be honest. When my mother and I first arrived there was a group of three women sitting in the back. It took them a few minutes to even acknowledge that we were there. The women that did speak to us wasn’t very friendly and I felt talked down to.

It’s always a little odd as a regular Unilocaler when you have a different experience than your fellow reviewers have, but that’s the beauty of the site, I suppose. Everybody’s entitled to their say.
Anyway, after reading all the glowing reviews, I was expecting a five-​star experience myself. Alas, I can’t give it all up for Ethique Nouveau after stopping in last week. Keep in mind that this is just based one one experience, but I thought I’d throw in my first impressions.
First, the good: The concept of the store is wonderful. Though I’m not a vegan, I do try to buy local, fair trade and organic. Sustainability and social responsibility are important. The merchandise ranges from bath products to upcycled wallets and other gifts that are similar in style, but slightly more unique than you might find at Patina. If we were going on the nuts and bolts of the store alone, I’d give it four stars.
Second, the not-​so-​good: The person working never greeted me, which is kind of awkward when it’s a small, quiet, neighborhood shop. I was looking for a gift for a friend, but I just took a quick lap around the store and then made my way to the door because I felt a bit uncomfortable.

Good gear and gifts for anyone who is looking for thoughtful and cruelty free presents. The profits go to help animals and they totally ‘get it’ when it comes to ethical purchasing.

Easy parking on the street and a very attractive neighborhood of Minneapolis not far from Lake Harriet.

I LOVE this store! How wonderful that we now have TWO vegan specialty shops in Minneapolis — Ethique Nouveau and Fast & Furless.
This not-​for-​profit shop is adorable & has so many great veg-​friendly items. You’ll find lip balms, non-​leather purses, bath salts, wallets, books, cookbooks, stickers, magnets, t-​shirts, cosmetics, paintings, food, and much more! The prices are incredibly fair, and every purchase benefits animal-​related programs.
The space is really warm & inviting, with soft lighting & beautiful hardwood floors. I wanted to buy so many things when I stopped in yesterday, but I kept it to a cute/​funny little sticker, a magnet (that says «Lovin’ my vegan oven!»), and some AMAZING chocolate truffles with various fillings. (Holy moly, these truffles are incredible.)
Ethique Nouveau also collects fur coats (and fur-​trimmed accessories) to send to wildlife rehab groups like Coats for Cubs.
I really enjoyed my visit to this store yesterday & I’ll be back as often as my pocketbook will allow.
