I eat here somewhat regularly… because they have decent sandwich options for a decent price and are close to my work. Plus, they serve Udi’s GF bread! The staff is always friendly, funny, helpful and remember me. It’s packed for lunch, but I can still get in/out quickly. AND I like their music. Every time I go in something cool is playing!

Yikes. I work downtown and keep giving this place a chance, thinking it will improve. The thing is, I generally have had a good experience at E&G’s elsewhere, including the U of M campus and in St. Cloud. It’s a telltale sign when a sandwich shop in a prime downtown location is never busy, even during the noon hour. The sandwiches I’ve had have never had consistent amounts of sauce or lettuce and appear to be made very hastily. By contrast, the sandwiches at Potbelly, made just as quickly, never appear or taste like they were made in a rush. Today they gave me the wrong sandwich after assuring me it was the right one despite the tape label saying otherwise. When I returned to have my sandwich remade, the guys behind the counter were rude and didn’t listen to my re-order(I had to repeat myself three times, and the place was not loud or busy). Stay away!

The great thing about this place is it’s no nonsense and fast. The not so great thing is that I got more mayo than sandwich. Fair midwestern tradeoff? I THINKSO!

Love the soups and the sandwich bread is always soft.

Same reviewer, same sandwich ordered, same guy behind the counter. New twist? Avocado. Ball OUT of the park. Seriously crazy man behind the counter. You rock my sandwich world each and every time I come here.
