We had called another company(Minneapolis St. Paul Plumbing) for a just a routine cleaning of our sewer pipes due to past problems with sewer back up from tree roots. They were here for less then one hour and told us that we probably had a cracked sewer pipe and we were quoted $ 5500 to repair the pipe in the front yard going to the street Then they charged $ 340.00. for doing nothing except putting fear in us that we had a major problem with our sewer line. We decided to get a second opinion before shelling out that kind of cash. We are glad we did because Cutting Edge sent out an honest hard working technician that was able to grind through the pipe and remove a large amount of roots. He then ran a camera along the pipe and said our 50 plus year old sewer pipes are in great condition with no cracks in the sewer pipes. The first company sub contracts their technicians. Cutting edge employees are not sub contracted and put the effort in to provide a proper cleaning. Even though we had to spend more money to have the pipe cleaned we now have piece of mind that the job was done. They used no scare tactics and will even give veterans a discount. No damage occurred inside the home and they left my basement in the same condition it was before they started. Always check with a company to make sure they don’t sub contract because you never know what you will get for service. We will call Cutting Edge sewer and drain the next time with the expectation of a job well done!

Provider was called to clean sewer drain line in basement which was plugged with tree roots. In the process two kitchen floor tiles were chipped and old linoleum on several basement stairs was torn. One service person came out quickly. He brought in a very large machine to drain the sewer drain line in my basement, As he came up the 3 stairs from my garage through my kitchen hallway to the stairs to my basement, he chipped my kitchen tiles in two places coming from the garage to the kitchen. The kitchen tiles were in nice condition.(about 5 years old) The machine was very large, looked old and had sharp edges. He had no tarp or anything to protect my floor with him and stated it was a heavy and hard machine to handle. the When he came back up the stairs I found my own rug to protect the edges of my kitchen floor coming up from the basement stairs so my other kitchen tiles wouldn’t be damaged on the other side. I asked isn’t it possible to bring tarps or protection for my floors and he said the company did not provide him with these. On the way up my basement stairs he tore the linoleum on several of my basement stairs. Granted this linoleum is 30 years old but I was not planning to replace it at this time. Now the linoleum is torn on several stairs and has to be replaced. All this will require a lot of time, effort and cost for me. Again I think this could have been avoided with floor protection. When I stated I wasn’t satisfied, their manager Joe came out to look at the damage that was done by the worker they sent out, and Joe was very unpleasant regarding my complaint and statied the problem was my linoleum was old, saying he had no responsibility or culpability. He said I could have had two people come out for an extra charge to lift the machine and not damage my floor. But this was told to me after the visit, after the damage and after I complained. I would like others to know of this option before their floor is damaged. The serviceman did remove a lot of tree roots. It is a dirty job and I had to provide tarps or whatever needed to keep a carpet I had downstairs from getting dirty. He did not wear shoe protectors. He cleaned up marginally, and I cleaned up the basement floor after he left. I was not aware of the $ 50 service charge on top of the $ 99. for the sewer drain unclogging. Plus I was charged another $ 73 for an adjoining small drain. I would be fine with this charge, if my kitchen tiles and my basement stairs had not been damaged.
