WTF? Every time I call, the line is busy. Very annoying and frustrating. Are they still open, closed?

Busy signal every time I call? Don’t want to deliver after ten pm? Fine, you can lose business. You’re a horrible establishment. If you can’t handle delivery after ten, then market that. This restaurant used to be so great but they are going to bomb this next year. I promise I won’t do business with this establishment ever again.

Welcome to my first ever 1 star review. I hope you find it informative. I used to be a semi-regular customer of a sandwich shop about a block from here, that closed just before I moved back to their delivery area. I’ve heard great things about Caffrey’s and I finally decided to give them a try tonight. My mistake. Their blog(menu), Unilocal, google, etc. all boast the merits of this great OPENLATE sandwich shop. So, as I’m doing my homework(thursday night ritual) I take a break to plan what place shall bring me snacks post cram. I scanned the menu and decided on Caffrey’s, and didn’t hurry because they are open daily till 3AM and I’ve no cause to think I’m not in their delivery area — I’m actually less than 6 blocks away. At about 11PM I start trying to phone an order. Line is busy. I wait 5 or 10 minutes, try again, still busy. I’m not starving, so I wait a little while longer and call back just before midnight. Still busy. Well, I figure — this place must be happening — or perhaps they are short on drivers and left the phone off the hook to catch up. I’ll just hop in my vehicle(rather than walk alone on a cold night) and take a spin up there and order a sam in person. I pulled up — and they are closed. Lights off, sign off. Closed Closed. I can’t tell if it’s a permanent closure or just a bad night. They didn’t look like they were boarded up for sale or anything. Just like, not open for business. So, now here I sit — hungry and bitter back in my living room. I know — first world problems, right? But come on. How rude. The least you could do is have a voicemail that answers and says«sorry we’re closed temp for whatever reason». Or «we recently changed our hours to whatever and apologize for the inconvenience». How about a blog update as to the status of the business? Are you closed? Do you have new hours? But apparently that’s too much to ask. So therefor, future patronage on my part will be just that — too much to ask. And I suggest others vote with their lack of business as well. It’s not as though I’m the only person to review their busy signal phone.

I got lunch here a few times and was quite impressed. I’ve just recently started my vegan journey and was happy to find a vegan sandwich place! Their ‘vegan chicken’ was actually quite good.

What the fuck is going on with this place? The phone line is busy ALLTHETIME. My review would receive 5 stars if I was able to actually order something. They make great stuff, but what good does that do anyone if you can’t actually get it. Has anyone been by there? Does it still actually exist? What a disappointment.

I enjoy their sandwiches. The veggie is great for late night hunger and or a busy day. Their phone number has been busy every time I have called in the last three weeks. I have tried at different times of day. Anyone know if they closed?

Sadly, I couldn’t get my Caffrey’s fix today as I received a voicemail when calling stating they would be closed for restaffing until 10⁄29. Hopefully this will help with some of the delivery issues I mention below. I’ve been enjoying Caffrey’s for the last few months now. I live quite close by so I’ve never been told they won’t deliver to me. I’ve tried items on the menu for the sake of variety, but always come back to their reuben, as it always reliably delicious. The cookies(either big or small) are also a highlight, and have a great homemade taste. Their salads and soups are also solid as well. This is one of those places where it is hard to go wrong for the most part. My only food quality issue has been less than adequate amounts of meat in their cheesesteak subs. I also feel you get a reasonable amount of quality and value for your money. I always get delivery, so I can’t speak for the dine-in experience. I’ve learned to always scrutinize my orders as there is a chance something is missing(they time they forgot my drink was upsetting, and the second time they did this I got the driver to make it right). I also had a driver space case my address on one occasion and call me 12 blocks away.

I think they closed down. Keep getting a busy signal when I call. Food was good. Maybe Pete Caffrey forgot to pay all his employees like he forgot to pay me in 2006. The owner is a total turdlinger and maybe the health inspector got him.

Let me just say I love this place it’s a great sub shop. In recent times it has been very very hard to get delivery on the phone it’s been a busy signal. I’ve tried every single day for a week to try to get a delivery and cannot even get through. Tell me what is up?

I like the hours, the potato salad, and the raspberry vinaigrette. Fresh veggies. A lite sandwich is truly meat skimpy, but it went well with the side salad combo. Good roll bread.

Good place to find a delicious deli sandwich. Service is a little slow, but worth the wait. I got the pastrami and it was great although the regular size is a little small. If you like pickles I would order one. They are big and juicy.

The Three Pepper Chicken is a simple take on the chicken sandwich. In the way that Marty McFly’s hoverboard was a cool take on the skateboard. Consisting of 3 kinds of peppers, chunks of fresh chicken, and mayonnaise, they didn’t burst any capillaries in their heads thinking of this masterpiece. However, if you get it on the magical white sub rolls(which are like sweet bread mixed with a slice of angel farts,) its creates an alchemy on your tongue that automatically sends a signal to your brain that makes you a better person. At least, those angry thoughts in your head you mistake for regret are gone afterward. Sure its loud in there, and some of the reviewers are turned off by the come-as-you-are nature of the employees, but i’m not concerned with much when I want a damn sandwich. Caffrey’s is now an uptown staple, perfect to kill a nasty hangover with a haymaker of delightfulness. If you disagree, so be it. Enjoy Arby’s. I’ll be the disgusting mess in the corner eating my weight in sandwich. Never Change.

This is one of those places that is as good as everyone says it is! I absolutely love this place, eat here at least once a week. I’ve had literally everything on the menu & it’s all delicious. The service is fantastic. They have a couple unique sandwich options and everything is really fresh literally everything is fantastic so just order whatever sounds good to you & I guarantee you’ll love it.

Is this place under new ownership/management? I’ve been a very loyal and regular customer for over a decade but lately the service and quality has been horrible. The last three times we’ve ordered we’ve had issues with the wrong food being delivered, items being missed, etc… It’s really too bad because I really liked this place and they are one of the few delivery options late at night, but we are going to take a long break. I hope they sort out their problems so we have them as a delivery option again in the future.

YUM! What else is there to say, really? I had driven by this place a million times and never thought much of it. I was wrong. While I haven’t taken advantage of their delivery service or late business hours, I am constantly glad they are an option for us all. Onto the food itself. Sooo good. I love a good sandwich and they do that here. And have a massive list of both hot and cold sandwiches to choose from. Only downfall is that its really not too cheap. For 2 sandwiches it ended up being close to $ 20 which… I could have gotten a lot of street tacos for. But I’ll keep coming back because they seriously are delicious.

First night back in Uptown after spending almost 2 years in the taint of Minneapolis(aka North/aka the hood). So I had to do it up Uptown official and order from the best stoner sandwich shop in Minneapolis — Caffrey’s. You know the saying«you can never go home again»? Well, that’s fucking bullshit, because Caffrey’s hasn’t changed a bit and that makes me moist. High ass bros answering the phones? Check. Fast delivery? Check. Drivers who smoke too much weed to find your house in the dark? Dude… what? Oh yeah. Check. I ordered the loaded Philly and macaroni salad — the macaroni salad was fine but dat sandwich tho? Omigod. All of my yes and all of your yes too because who cares what you think? Certainly not me. I was on this sandwich faster than bored 40 year old women jump on senseless drama. It was Real Housewives of Get In My Mouth, You Delicious Bastard. Goddammit I missed you, you glorious meat slut. Anyway, the neckbeard ordered the hot shot Italian and the potato salad. He said the sandwich was good and the potato salad was better than the threesome in Wild Things. I assume that’s high praise. These are authentic sandwiches. You can really taste the authenticness of the meat and cheese from the meat and cheese region of the world. It brought me back to the time I’ve spent in the deli section of a grocery store. Damn it feels good to be home.

Recently I’ve been obsessed with Caffrey’s reuben sandwiches in the same way a child gets fixated with one dress and wears it daily. Or how I used to play that one damn Westlife album over and over again when I was 12. Anyway, I don’t know how it started. Actually, I have an idea of how it started: my pathetic excuse of a pantry was running low on good eats and, per usual, I went through my mind palace of places around me that deliver. I wasn’t really in the mood for rice(que horror!), but I didn’t feel like pizza either. Then, I remembered that Caffrey’s delivers, and I was like, I can use some hot meats on delicious toasted bread right about now. A phone call and a short wait later, my reuben arrived, and I haven’t stopped calling Caffrey’s since. I appreciate how fast their delivery is(they tend to under promise and over deliver on the wait times, which I prefer than the other way around, to be honest), and how courteous and efficient their folks are. The sandwiches are just eh… …xcellent. The sandwiches are just excellent. The reuben, my raison d’être, is a glorious mountain of perfectly corned corned beef, with a generous amount of tangy, crunchy sauerkraut, the works, all hugged by perfectly toasted rye bread. And because their delivery is speedy, the sandwich arrives still hot, toasty, and wrapped in wax paper and shiny foil for my enjoyment. Mouth geysers: activated. They do have other yummy sandwiches, too, like the Blue Cow and the Ranch Gobbler. I particularly delight in the stench of the blue cheese on the Blue Cow. But, have I mentioned, I’m all about the reuben right now. And their blueberry cheesecake. They have cheesecake, which you can top with either blueberry, cherry, or chocolate brownie. I go for their blueberry cheesecake. At the risk of sounding redundant(you don’t say?), I have an inexplicable craving for reubens, and there’s no better place around to satisfy it than Caffrey’s.

It seems prices go up every time I go here. I have a menu from 2013 prices are up $ 1.75 per sandwich since then. The blue cow, ruben and PC are still solid but they are not $ 10 sandwiches. Do not get the philly(very dry). Oh yeah, it’s 2015 maybe they should get a website. One with a menu.

I’ve been here twice now — one ok experience, one bad one. For a small sandwich shop that charges ~$ 13+ for a meal, I expect a lot more. Their cold sandwiches, from my one experience, aren’t bad. I would say they’re no better or worse than Erberts and Gerberts, Jimmy Jons, etc. It’s an average sandwich shop sandwich that’s a cut above subway, but they’re a bit expensive IMO. Their Philly cheesesteaks, though, are an abomination. I just finished one and I could not be more disappointed. I put up a picture on here, look for yourself — I estimate there was maybe 1 oz of meat on my sandwich. I legitimately could not taste it in most bites above the bread. And the irony of it all is that it was the«loaded» philly cheesesteak. Someone needs to let these guys know what the word loaded actually means. The overall sandwich tasted of bread and mushrooms for the most part, and even those were scarce. I’m not exaggerating when I say it was 70% bread. The picture doesn’t lie. Soups are ok. I’ve had the chicken noodle and the broccoli cheese. The chicken noodle is what you would expect. I find the broccoli cheese to be way too thick and tasting of processed cheese(think velveeta). Overall, I don’t think this place is worth the price. Heck, even i it were cheaper, I find Milio’s, a generic chain right across the street, to put out a better product. I live like a two minute walk away and I won’t be back, if that tells you something.
