Beyond Organic Salon Spa

Having been to see Laura at Beyond Organic Salon Spa a few times for different services, I have been extremely happy with all of them!
The salon is an intimate and clean setting located in her home and is very comfortable– It’s so nice to relax without the presence of other clients and stylists, and Laura is able to give her full attention to whatever I’m having done!
Over each of my visits, I’ve had a haircut, eyebrow wax, keratin treatment, facial treatment and hair color change from black to bleach blonde.
For my haircut, Laura was very thorough and styled it afterward to make sure it looked just right. I had grown out my hair from a pixie cut and needed it to be re-​shaped. I’m pretty awful at giving direction, but she was able to achieve exactly what I was looking for and it turned out awesome! I was sharing with her about my love of having blonde hair and colored hair, and how I could never keep it long or re-​do it without really damaging it, after which she told me about a new system called Olaplex that could be used as an add-​in for bleaching that keeps hair from getting damaged, so we scheduled an appointment to bleach my hair again.
Coloring my hair from black to bleach blonde with Olaplex worked wonders! My hair is now completely blonde and totally healthy, despite having to bleach and tone twice, respectively. I’m soooo happy she recommended this to me because I had resigned myself to never being able to have light hair again! She even sent me home with the final conditioning step of the treatment so I can use it to maintain my hair. We did a keratin treatment to finish up the process and my hair is nice and softer than it was to begin with. The color turned out so nice an even and looks fabulous.
The soy eyebrow wax was really great as well. The shape turned out nicely and the soy wax was super gentle on my skin and didn’t leave any gross residue like regular waxing (which makes my skin break out).
Lastly, I had an exfoliating facial treatment that was totally painless and left my skin even and smooth. I have an uneven complexion from some past acne and the treatment really helped to refresh it!
It’s really obvious that Laura cares quite a bit about using organic processes; she speaks about it passionately. As someone who is conscious about keeping away harmful chemicals myself, it is really great to see her offering alternatives to the standard junk most salons use. Additionally, she is a really nice woman and very knowledgeable! She is really down to Earth and makes your experience comfortable and enjoyable. I will be a loyal client to her moving forward!

I had a very positive experience at this salon and would recommend it to anyone who is chemically sensitive or otherwise seeking organic hair care.
I purchased the Trubates deal for organic haircolor for only $ 45 — an incredible deal! When I called to set my appointment, the owner told me that she moved the business into her home — it is now at 30 W Minnehaha Pkwy — so I was not surprised about this.
I’ve known many stylists who have had in-​home salons, and I also know how it goes when you own a business that is outside the mainstream — it’s often necessary to reduce expenses to survive.
Anyhoo, here’s the long and short of it. The organic haircolor was fabulous. It was exactly what I was hoping for — no chemical smell whatsoever — and she mixed shades to give me exactly the color I wanted.
This salon is a one woman show, based out of her home, and she is still in the process of arranging things. Most human beings should be understanding of this scenario. Personally, I care more about the quality of the services than having perfect surroundings.
This salon offers a tremendous service to those of us who are tired of stinky, nasty chemicals being applied to our heads. Thank you for giving us another option! The stylist is quite knowledgeable about chemical sensivity and carries several different brands of organic hair care products. What a refreshing, outside the box approach! I sincerely hope her business continues to grow.

My experience at this ‘spa/​salon’ was horrendous this morning! I usually do not post negative reviews, but I want to save someone else from investing their hard earned money in this business. I obtained a ‘Trubates’ coupon to try out ‘Nurturing You’ for full organic color. Here is a list of things that occurred that led me review this business poorly:
1. The Salon/​Spa is NO LONGER a salon spa! It is based out of her house! I found this out after GPS led me to the location. In some cases I would be ok with this, but her house wasn’t even clean! She is in the process of switching to a home based business. There were about a gazillion things that weren’t up to code for a home run cosmetology practice! (this should have been my red flag to get out. but I am way into giving people the benefit of the doubt and I had already invested in the Trubates)
2. I found out that my «Organic» hair dye, wasn’t completely organic. She said it didn’t have ammonia and «had some organic stuff in it»…great
3. I asked for a trim, which she started with and took about 10 minutes cleaning up the ends of my long hair. I was later charged $ 55 for this service.
4. She applied the dye and I thought it was interesting how much she was getting on my forehead and cheeks, but figured that she would clean this up later with some special product. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE!!! She told me «This stuff is really hard to get off when you get home, so rub some moisturizer into it.» WELL THEN! BE CAREFUL TO NOT GET IT ALL OVER ME! I looked like a tribal war chief when I left!
5. She left me alone to process down in her basement forever, where it was cold… no music. no magazines… nothing. very uncomfortable.
6. While she was rinsing out the dye she let me know then that she did NOT include a blowout in her services! So, I was basically going to leave with wet hair. Nice to know at the END of my service.
This was just an awful experience. Laura was nice as a person, but quite clueless as to what a ‘standard of excellence’ is. I would NEVER refer a friend or family member to this business.
