Love the Happy Hour! Really good prices on apps, and their specialty drinks are delicious. Effen Good Martini is effing good! You also have to try the Loaded Tots… so spicy. In the summer you have to sit on their patio!

I was skeptical about bringing my boss and some coworkers here for an early dinner after seeing how drunk and sloppy it can get after midnight, but we were all pleasantly surprised. The place has a great vibe, and while there were definitely more college aged kids, there were some adults as well. The food was good. nothing amazing but I would recommend my burger. Our waitress got lost in the shuffle every once in a while but eventually she came back around. Trivia on Wednesday nights. Overall a good experience.

If you are looking for a chill spot on a Thursday night, Bar Louie is a great place to be at. Not only, do they have a happy hour that goes until 7 pm(that’s a rarity these days), the food options are awesome and they have $ 5 specialty martinis all night long! I also really like the fact that all of the bartenders-at least on Thursday night– are really friendly, competent, and genuinely try to get to know those sitting at the bar. This was even before I gave them a generous tip. All in all, if you are itching to avoid going home after work on Thursday night, I would definitely consider going to Bar Louie eating a chicken verde flatbread, drinking an Effen Good martini, and having a conversation with bartender or others sitting at the bar.

Service and ambience is great, the fish and chips were good but spicy? the fries with it were okay. probably best to go for drinks and appetizers, like I said ambience and the service(that I received anyway) very nice,

Any port in a storm i guess… We ended up here after seeing a mantinee at the Lagoon. For some reason nobody up for walking to walk to Stella’s, Lucia’s or Barbette. I really like the appearance of Bar Louie. Nice glass front allowing you to look outside, cool patio seating, interesting people inside, and they had football on the TVs. We ambled on in, and it was pretty much dead. a few eating groups, and a few people at the bar enjoying an afternoon libation. We took a booth, and waited to be served… and we waited… and we waited. I made eye contact with two servers working tables adjacent to our booth, and we received no service what so ever for 10 minutes. not even a «someone will be with you shortly». We basically ended up sitting at the bar to order drinks and our dinner. I will certainly give props to the bartender. At least they were attentive, entertaining, and overall fun to chat with during our time there. the food is a 2 out of 5. Not one item impressed anybody in the party. I can only speak for my entrée which was the fish and chips… meh. the fish was overcooked and dry. The burgers were ok, but I think one has to work at it to make a bad burger. I would encourage folks to go here for drinks, but that is where it ends. We should have sucked it up and went to one of aforementioned places instead.

I’ve been frequenting the Uptown Bar Louie for the better part of 2 years. I go about 2 – 3 times a month. Being in my late 20s, it’s one of my favorite places to forget about my fleeting youth, have a good time, and pretend like I’m fresh out of college(like the majority of clientele there). On the surface, there isn’t anything particularly great about Bar Louie but what they do, they do well. The staff I’ve dealt with is always very energetic and professional yet fun to joke around with. The food isn’t anything to write home about but yet I always seem to go back and order dinner or a few apps. It’s mostly average American-style fare but a notch or two above what you might expect for this type of establishment. The atmosphere and décor would best be described as modern but youthful. I don’t feel like there is another place similar to Bar Louie in Uptown. Places like Stella’s and Uptown Tavern have a distinctively different vibe even though the crowd is largely the same. There are 2 levels to Bar Louie. The upstairs is generally only open on weekends from what I can tell. They do have some nice although limited lounge style seating on the 2nd level. It’s fun to look down on the masses on a weekend night and people watch. Bar Louie is really built for the weekends but it’s a decent place to go on the weekdays too to watch a game and grab an app. On warm days, they have a very large patio area with fire pits that they open up. In my opinion, for better or worse, Bar Louie is a perfect example of the«new Uptown». Whereas for example, Williams is probably a good example of the old Uptown. I’ve had some really good times at Bar Louie that I don’t feel I would have had too many other places in Uptown. I’d recommend Bar Louie as a good place to bring suburban and urban friends alike on a weekend night. FYI though, they do play pretty loud music on weekend nights but the playlist is generally pretty good for«cluby» music. After 10 on the weekend, having a conversation can be difficult.

The patio at Bar Louie looked so fun and inviting on an 80 degree October day! However, as soon as we sat down, we pretty much wanted to leave. I ordered some«think pink» drink that was displayed on the table. The server didn’t know anything about it or if they even had it. Turns out they did and she brought it to the table. It was very sweet, which I expected. It turned out to be an $ 11 drink. Not worth it. Beer was on special and was $ 4.50 or something. We saw SO many over the top drunk people. One guy was passed out *at* the bar, one guy was wasted and wondering around to tables hitting on women and one guy was so out of his mind bombed, that he was dragged out and attempted to be put into a car. He was so freaking drunk that when… security? friends? tried to place his ass on the car seat, he missed and folded himself up on his legs and started screaming. It was early evening on a Sunday. In closing, my advice is to sit on the patio, people watch, go with zero expectations and be ultra careful, because clearly this place over-serves the drinks.

The guy at the door was the sweetest person there. I sat down while the server was taking orders to the table next to me. No greeting no nothing. I waited for 10 minutes and she didn’t come back so I left. Very unprofessional. At Least say hello. And the bar was slammed, the tables were chill. As I left the door guy said good bye, most service I got from that place.

Mediocre food, overly sugary drinks. Nice space and ambiance. I liked the patio. Kind of douchey. Food wasn’t very good. Not a destination, but more like a place you end up because someone else wanted to go. Service was great and attentice though. We split the voodoo chicken and it wasn’t great, but they did split the plate for us, which was a nice touch.

This rating is for the overall space. Very nice outdoor seating. Been here a few times now. Service is usually very good. The food is good. Nothing more or special. This is a place to bring out of town friends for a late afternoon cocktail. Runs about $ 100 for two to hang out for a few drinks and maybe an appetizer.

We actually had a nice experience here, unlike many, which is unfortunate. Came here for a family member’s 40th birthday, was able to sit outside, and it was quite nice. It was a Friday night and it got busier and busier as the night went on. None of us drink so being sober at a packed bar is always entertaining. I got the mock cherry peach cocktail, and it was so good! I also got the salmon sliders which were also quite tasty. My fiancé got the regular burger sliders which weren’t great, so we took them back, and the second batch wasn’t great either, so the server just took it off out tab and apologized up and down. She also took my mocktail off the tab for the fact that he wasn’t really able to eat dinner(it became too late to even order anything else). I’m giving 5 stars for how hard she worked, I’m bummed I didn’t catch her name. I don’t think we’ll be back on a weekend night because of how packed it gets, but I will be back for the salmon sliders and cherry peach mocktail :)

The atmosphere was fabulous! We enjoyed the outdoor patio and our waiter. We ordered three apps, which were all delicious! We had the salmon sliders, chx parm sliders and the veggie flatbread! They were all delicious, but I have to rave about the salmon sliders! The only one thing that brought it down to a four star was the table downwind from us started smoking. Bravo! Perfect place for a summer night in uptown!

Eww don’t serve dried out/old bar fruit. My cucumber looks like it was cut a week ago. Yuck!!! But I do like hanging out here with friends. Great happy hour. A little douch baggy at night.

Love the patio but hate the service. I came here around 3pm for happy hour on a Monday. We seated ourselves on the patio and waited about 5 minutes for someone to greet us. The happy hour featured $ 2 or $ 3 off drinks but there were no prices so I wasn’t sure what to make of that. My boyfriend ordered a beer and I ordered a martini. The beer came quickly– maybe 2 or 3 minutes but I had to wait another 5 minutes to get my martini. We were going to get food but the service was so slow we decided to get the tab and go somewhere else. $ 22 for a beer and a martini. Definitely not worth it.

This place looks great and it’s very chill. There is no DJ so expect a set list made by the general manager, which honestly is not that great. Drinks are expensive so I’d say this is a nice place to end the night, especially by their outdoor fireplaces in warm weather.

The most reputable racist establishment in Minneapolis welcomes you!(But only if you don’t wear flat bill hats or baggy clothing of any sort). I’ve seen renowned authors who happen to be tanner than myself be physically thrown out. This is a bad business and gives uptown a bad name.

Lovely ambiance v happening especially in summers but bad tasting food! Need to improvise the taste in food the competition out there is too strong-all dishes lack flavor!

Came here for the first time last weekend after some friends and I went out for dinner. The only thing I did like was we found a round booth to sit in, which made for a comfortable spot to drink and everyone could talk to each other. Our server was fine but their drink list didn’t have prices — not that I can remember — so I wasn’t sure how much my drink would be. Ordered a rail rum and coke and ended up costing me $ 6 without tip. Throughout the night we had guys coming up to our table and trying to talk with us and on the way to the bathroom a guy stopped my friend to ask her to join him… just didn’t seem like the crowd I would want to hang out with. If you want a casual night out to drink I would not recommend coming here.

I love the outdoor patio! It’s so relaxing and nice. My server was Christine. She’s so sweet and cute! She made sure we were taken care of. I got my favorite drink, the clover. It tastes way better over Ice than in the martini glass. They play good music and everyone there is pretty good looking. I’d definitely come again!

Sigh. What do you expect when a corporate chain sits it’s distressed denim and vodka red bull factory in the heart of Calhoun Square? A clientele of blonde girls who definitely pregamed to Katy Perry and Affliction-wearing dudebros who probably own their own entertainment company called«Swag Out Productions Worldwide LLC» or something. Jean Ralphio from Parks and Rec would love it here. The patio area isn’t bad, but I really don’t know why people think the weird wading pools make it classy. This isn’t the Real Housewives of Miami. Would be worth it if you got to see someone fall in and ruin their new tramp stamp tattoo. To give the place some credit, the bar snack food I’ve had here was decent, and the $ 5 martini deal on Thursdays is pretty good(though Amazing Thailand down Hennepin does the same). Bartenders have always been speedy with my gin and tonics, which is extremely key when I have to deal with being at Bar Louie in the first place.
