Not the prettiest or cleanest place, food was okay. Had salad, chicken kabob with rice and spinach pie with hummus. Unfortunately, Chicken and rice were dry, spinach pie and hummus was pretty good. Not sure if I would drive or of my way to come back again.

Excellent rice, good humus, and nice balanced Greek salad. The lamb & chicken gyros combination special is delicious. With a price tag of about $ 10 including tax, this little joint is worth a stop.

Lamb kebab was the best thing we had. Also gyro was good too. Big portions, reasonably priced. Great salad in the start.

Spectular I have been coming here at least once a month(using my metro dining club card) for years now. I’m always up for trying new things but no need once I fell in love with the gyro dinner. I skip the hummus, rice, fries option and go right for an extra house salad with their amazing dressing. The guys in the kitchen are helpful and funny… And the gal behind the register is always super sweet It’s a small café/diner. A real find for the area. I really appreciate the fast service and great quality of meat. The vegetables seem like they are right from the farmers market… Fresh, crisp., flavorful. If you are in the area give it a try. You can’t go wrong.

Called in an order, was put on hold for six minutes and forgotten about. Felt like an inconvenience to staff, gryo meat was beyond strong. Fries were soggy. Will not go back.

I had a serious craving for baklava so we decided to grab lunch too! I had the falafel sandwich meal(and my baklava) and my father had the gyro platter with hummus. The portions were huge and we both carried out leftovers. The sandwich was a definite two-hander and was FULL of falafel — this is not some three-patty place! I really liked that the hummus wasn’t just plopped on top, there was a pool in the bottom of the double layer of pita, and in between the veggies(cuke, tomato, lettuce, onion, and they don’t skimp there either!) and patties as well. The falafel wasn’t quite as crispy as I prefer, but it had a good flavor. The fries were seasoned and fresh. The baklava wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it satisfied my craving and was a fairly large triangle. My father enjoyed his meal, especially the hummus. Overall, it was such a quick, filling, and inexpensive lunch… I’m sure we’ll be back.

Great fresh gyros. That’s all you need to know. I prefer the sauce on the side with no onions but you know, whatever floats your boat. A little birdie told me that I was able to get the kids meal version of the gyro too, which offers the same amount of fries and a bit less meat but I mean if your a small eater like me, this is more than enough food. Plus you can’t beat paying $ 2 less than regular for it. If you want to be adventurous and have a little bit more for your buck, get the gyro value combo. Same thing as a gyro kids meal but more meat and veggies. Both meals come with a drink and this place opens late!

Basically my roommate and i cannot go without the Athen’s hummus in our fridge for more than a couple of days. Their dolmades are some of the best i’ve ever had. I’ve brought the gyro’s dinner x4 to family dinners and everyone loved it. This is one of the reasons i feel lucky to live in Robbinsdale, to have the number one greek specialty restaurant within walking distance. Also, it is great that they are open until 9:00pm since almost nothing is open until 9pm in this town except for the bars. Super friendly, awesome, accommodating staff. I really love this place.

I LOVE this place! For the same price as a gyro from the fair you will get a HUGE plate of Greek food. Lots of gyro meet, great hummus, and fries. Lots of other fun things to try too!

I just ate the best Chicken Gyro I’ve ever had. I recently moved back to the Robbinsdale area, and had a 15% of coupon for Athens Café. I went to get a Chicken Gyro combo, including a drink, and the total was $ 5.99. The Gyro and Fries portions were so large, I would have not thought twice if the total was double that(with or without the 15% off coupon). Robbinsdale has become quite the restaurant town; Athens Café deserves to be on the«must-list» for lunch. Great prices, incredible food, big portions, and quick service – even with a long line of customers. I now know why there are long lunch lines. I can’t wait to go back and try other items, as well as their homemade Hummus for sale.

Great food and really friendly service. My favorite place for hummus. So many varieties and I haven’t tasted one yet that wasn’t good.

If they didn’t use styrofoam for take out, I’d give this restaurant five stars. The hummus is so creamy and flavorful and this is the only place that I know of that services spicy falafel. So delicious! I also appreciate how many vegetarian options they have available on their menu. The price is very reasonable as well. The staff is very friendly and I always get great customer service too.

You get a lot of food for your money. We both ordered a combo plate and we had dinner, and will have enough for a full lunch and snack tomorrow! Great kabobs. Hummus is delish, they had many different kinds to choose from. I will go back to try the others. Tabbouleh was awesome. Everything we had was great. They were busy because of Valentine’s Day and the customer service was fantastic, friendly and speedy. Great little place. Don’t let the strip mall scare you away.

Athens still has the best hummus in town… their food is top notch too. Tonight I went with the gyro combo platter, $ 9 for chicken, lamb, hummus, pita, salad, and a drink. I over ate tonight but I still have plenty to over eat at lunch. My aunt loves this place too, requesting it after we went a couple months ago. She asked why I don’t eat here more often. The answer is easy in that if I did, I would want to pig out every time.

So reviewers don’t like the space, but where else can you can sit at a long counter and watch people file past one foot away while ordering their food. Having been here a few times over the past few years, I would recommend. In particular I had a chicken chunk dish that I loved. The gyro is ok, the rice dry, the baklava good size for the price, and the owner friendly. Unfortunately it sits in an even more unfortunate strip mall(is their any other kind), which detracts from what could have been a downtown feel of this small town.

This is the second time I“ve eaten here and boy was this time even more memorable. Athens Café is in a strip mall in Robinsdale and it’s a place that’s easy to miss. Their restaurant is setup like a fast food restaurant so it’s nothing fancy, an old 90’s interior and seating outside as well. Their menu doesn’t really list any prices only pictures and names of stuff they sell. I ordered a falafel sandwich, with fries, and a soda for 6 bucks and change so practically $ 7.00. If you take a look at my picture, that sandwich was huge(almost the size of my face) as well as a very generous serving of french fries. They served the falafel sandwich with a fork which I’m assuming most people would use at the pita probably serves as more of a bowl than anything else. For me however, I tackled that beast with my bare hands and it resulted in a face smeared with tahini and man was it good. The falafel didn’t have a beautiful golden brown color like Moshe’s falafel in NY but the flavors were absolutely spot on(the best tasting I’ve had thus far). The sandwich was filled with fresh tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce, and onions and more falafel than I could count. 7 dollars for lunch and waddling out like a penguin afterwards? Makes me a happy man.
