TERRIBLE!!! Some of the WORST Chinese food I’ve had in my life! How do you mess up fried rice!!! There was nothing fresh or tasty about it. I even had someone else try it to make sure it wasn’t me and they didn’t even chew it all the way up, they spit it out. If you have a fix for Chinese food and want something to eat, then this is the place for you. I highly discourage you do this but each is their own. If you are trying to impress someone from out of town or show someone a good place, this place is not for you. The fried rice and egg drop soup were sub-par and that’s me being nice right now as I’m choking it down with a beer and I out 4 packs of soy sauce on it to try and help it out and it’s still terrible! I definitely wouldn’t eat here again. I’d rather just eat the fortune cookies that comes with it.

We were excited to try this place because it is the only Asian place in the area that is open on Sunday and actually had good reviews. We were very disappointed. We had the hot and sour soup which was neither hot nor sour, egg rolls and cream cheese wontons, both were subpar at best. The kung pao chicken wasn’t spicy and was deep fried and VERY salty! The sesame chicken was goopy and didn’t taste like the traditional sauce. The fried rice was hardy that, it was essentially white rice with some soy sauce lightly drizzled over top. There are much better places in Bloomington!

Take out is fast and always well packaged. Arrived home and the food was still hot! Hot and sour soup is always a favorite of mine. MooShu pork was very good, my only suggestion is a slightly thicker plum sauce.

I’ve been going there since I was a little kid. It is a family owned restaurant and it is nice to see familiar faces thought out the years. Food: absolute must is that hunan chicken! The rest of the food is pretty good but I would say it is on par with the rest of the restaurants in this category.

Huge gut busting portions. Share a meal. I was specific that I wanted savory, not sweet, And the scallops in garlic sauce were very sweet. So was the kung pao chicken which I sampled. Same olé, same olé.

From out of town, was looking for Asian cuisine. This place kinda felt like it was stuck in the 80s, but it had such charm. Our waitress had an accent, but the language barrier wasn’t an issue when we ordered we just felt a little rushed because they started cleaning tables up at 830 when the sign said they closed at 930pm. We ordered two cups of oolong and they gave us the whole pot for 60 cents. For our meal we got their Chicken Lo mein and Mandarin chicken to share for two people and it was plenty. Also, apparently, one of those dishes came with sides of rice or they just gave us sides of rice with our meal. Good meal, the sauces really made the dishes great, interesting location. I’d eat here again– 3.5 stars

Is there something less than one star? Flavorless, greasy, fatty, disgusting. I had sweet and sour pork, egg drop soup, fried rice, and BBQ ribs. Just terrible!

I ordered food from here a couple nights ago based on the good reviews found here and on Google. I must say I am extremely confused as to how this was establishment has an above average rating. The egg rolls and cream cheese wontons were okay but the entrees we ordered were disgusting. Inedible. We ordered two chicken entrees, sesame and general tso. The chicken was tough and chewy and the breads was super soggy and chewy, almost like it was reheated in the microwave. Will not be ordering from here again.

Come for the food, not for the ambiance. They have been there for generations and have never disappointed. I’ve been going there for 20 years now and can’t fathom them ever leaving. I’d be devastated if they did lol. For an appetizer, order the crab rangoon. It’s stuffed with yummy goodness. All their soups are wonderful. The hot n sour soup has the perfect balance of savory & sour. The egg drop soup is so light & fluffy with an awesome broth to it. As for entrees, their triple delight is always on point. I also like their hunan shrimp. They have the best lunch specials. You get soup, fried rice & a small entrée for an avg price of $ 7-$ 8. Owners are always friendly & humble. Love 1st Wok!

Ordered pork wontons and no pork in it. Didn’t eat them and still got charged for porkless wontons. False advertising. Besides that the rest of the food was OK.

While in Bloomington at MOA Waterpark with my three girls we came here for dinner since it was so close and had good reviews. We found the people to be extremely friendly and the food very good. The only drawback is that the place is pretty dumpy and worn out. The chairs were pretty nasty as was the carpeting. This place desperately needs a makeover!

This place is badly in need of a makeover, but who cares? Ignore the wood paneling and indulge in some of the best old-school Chinese food in town. The family that owns this place is incredibly nice. My sister has been a regular for years and they give her free chicken wings. Like I said, the food is old-school — no funky fusion stuff, just old-fashioned Chinese-American grub. Some standouts: the crab Rangoon(fantastic), dumplings, hot and sour soup, kung pao shrimp(all their shrimp dishes are cooked perfectly), and mu shu pork. I love the spicy mustard that they serve with the appetizers. Lots of fresh veggies in everything.

This is in Bloomington, off a frontage road. I have been here before, but last visit was first time in a while. I think it’s overpriced, bland and unappealing, at least my triple crown dish was, smaller portions. Plus the shrimp that were in the dish were twisted, not whole ones that are better in Chinese food; this is caused them to be smaller and for the cost of the dish, I felt cheated. The order came with fried rice, which I seemed standard, so I has to ASK foe white rice, really?! Not everyone likes fried rice. The 1st wok in the Uptown area is far better, better service to better food, and the décor is not so 1970ish. Not worth the time or money, when better options like Xin Wong.

Great place to chow down if you’re in the mood for great Chinese food. When we came in the ambiance was a bit dead — however it was about 430pm so can’t be too picky here. Nevertheless, the food was superb. We ordered the orange spicy chicken and we were shocked to see the size of the portions — big enough for two people, if not more. Luckily we only ordered one entrée so we were very pleased with our selection, and it ended up helping make our tab a lot cheaper. Funny because at first we were surprised to see the prices in the menu after we saw only 1 $ sign on Unilocal, definitely higher than 1 $ and almost borderline PF Chang’s prices. Finally our waitress was very nice and super funny and personable, she even gave us two extra fortune cookies so she earned a good tip. All in all good value for your money — again watch the portions and don’t pig out and eat the whole plate by yourself.

The Server was friendly and attentive. The fried rice was lacking salt. The pepper steak had more onions and peppers than steak.

I love this place, I have been eating here since I was a kid. My wife loves it as well. The people(family) that own and run it are great. The cream cheese puffs are a fantastic app, the egg rolls are good as well. My favorite entrée is the lemon chicken, others in my family enjoy the sweet and sour chicken as well as the beef and broccoli and of course plenty of fried rice. Open late on Fridays and Saturdays nights is great too.

Their egg drop soup and subgum fried rice are to die for, never go here without getting these two dishes. Customer service is great, all their waitress and waiter are nice and interactive.

The food is pretty good. I ordered Sweet & Sour soup and Beef & Broccoli. Both are very good portioned and they sure don’t short me on beef :-) Great place to do take out. I don’t see many people dine-in though.
