DONOTRENT/BUY FROMTHEM. They make mistakes on book orders ALL the time and will NOT own up to their mistakes. They may have cheaper prices, but it is NOTWORTHYOURMONEY when they screw up. They also never pick up phone calls, so don’t bother calling. First, they will tell you a book is an backorder and that it is coming in. After several phone calls and emails, with no replies for either, I went in to manually cancel my order as the books were not going to arrive on time for class. I had to jump through several hoops to make it happen. Next, their website has no way to search for individuals books. Thus, you trust that by giving your course and section number that they will order the correct books for you. WRONGAGAIN. They not only ordered the wrong book in which I purchased, the store manage will not allow me to return it as it is past the first week of class(their«return policy»). The manager proceeded to tell me that it is the student’s responsibility to make sure the books are correct, even though their whole book ordering system is based on the fundamental trust that we, as students, give to them. Why not just give us the option for finding books ourselves? Oh, right, this is not an available option on the website. I was offered store credit instead, so they can keep my money and retain the profit they originally made. Why would anyone want to return to such a shady establishment that does not own up to their mistakes?

I always try to support this family bookstore. but not anymore. I have had horrible few experiences in last two weeks. I can never hold of them by phone. I left messages but they never call me back. so I went there today and asked them if their phone is working. and they were super rude to me and told me that they were assisting customers. when I got there, no one was there, and if that is true, then why they did not return my voice messages previously? do not get it. They do not have decent explains for me when I try to return one book that I bought a day ago because I had to change the section and the professor uses a different book. anyway, I used to love sweeney’s but sorry you lost your best customer.

Be advised, this book store has changed locations from 17th and Wisconsin to 13th and Wells. Sweeney’s doesn’t always have the cheapest books to purchase, but they almost always buy them back for the highest price. They also understand that students are looking for the best deal, and they won’t give you a hard time if you say«Oh, no thanks, I’m going to try elsewhere.» They know you may be back, maybe not, but either way they want the best deal for you. They are very decent and will give you a 10% discount if a used book is water damaged or otherwise in crummy shape. The only other drawback is sometimes not every professor lists their textbooks with Sweeney’s, so some may not be available there, but this is no fault of the store. Similarly, a professor may not give the store the information on their books until close to the beginning of the semester, and the book may not come in as early as it could have. Once again, that’s the fault of the professor and not Sweeney’s. They also have the option to order books online.
