I stopped as I was in the neighborhood and had to pass on this info as I was very impressed. Had the Chicken Tortilla Soup which was the best I ever had and you can tell it was homemade; not like the prepackaged kind you find in most restaurants. They also had several others to choose from; there is nothing better in the winter than good homemade soup! I also had the Italian ma ma mea sandwich; again homemade and they carved the meat; again not like most locations that have pre-sliced or processed meats. Very Filling. Breakfast is served till 11 and they have many lunch specials. They also have a large area in the back with sofa and chairs for reading, they have board games, computers and free wi fi. Very laid back no rush; I highly recommend this place.

This place is great! The food is outstanding. The staff are very friendly and the prices are not bad. There aren’t a lot of people that come by but that makes it even better. Give this place a try if you’re in the Milwaukee area!

For this type of restaurant, this was fabulous! Had the lunch special of a pulled pork sandwich with chips, slaw, and a drink for $ 7. I couldn’t finish the sandwich, very tasty, very friendly!

I went in just to grab a latte and was very impressed with their menu and baked items looks tasty. Only reason I gave 3 stars is because they don’t steam the milk for espresso drinks, the barista microwaved my milk. I was hoping for a more authentic latte. The atmosphere was very relaxed and they had a nice dining area in the back.

Stopped by for lunch while attending a seminar at the Ambassador. Worth the walk over! Super friendly staff, casual space, great prices and my meal was so so good. Went back to work and told everyone they need to visit ASAP. Thanks, Ruby G’s!

I frequent this place in the summer months for breakfast and lunch. The Paul Bunyan breakfast is absolutely outstanding. It will keep you going all day. just came here for lunch and had the Gumbo. Yummy! The service is great. All their food is from scratch. Love it. Great coffee also.

This place is classic and very friendly! Its old school unpretentious with people doing the food thing with care. Its not a five star kind of thing(other than the consistently attentive and helpful staff)…but its a NOLOSE place and the specials are always on point. Its a city styled diner and cozy respite from the commercialism of chains and poserism of foodie fashionistas! Excellent.

Had the jumbalaya. Oh my goodness… it was so good. They brought my lunch to the table with a moist hot French bread. The jumbalaya was spicy just to perfection. They recycle and seem to be environment friendly. Very nice place to grab lunch close to downtown.

Good food and friendly staff. Came here for lunch and I got the special of the day«italian beef sandwich». The meal consist of chips and a can of soda. I would definitely recommend this place. Nice and cheap!

Excellent home-made style soups and sandwitches plus a rotating menu of daily specials. The interior is eclectic and a bit shabby. Not a place if you’re looking to impress, but serviceable for a casual lunch. The staff and service is friendly if occassionally disorganized, but they’re always willing to quickly fix any mixups that may happen. They also have a cyber-café if you need to get online.

Ruby G’s recently appeared on my radar after a quick workday lunch. It’s located in a «no man’s land» — about a block north of The Broken Yolk, Sal’s Pizza and the 2040 lofts, directly across from the Avenues West Milwaukee PD station — so most folks might not be aware of its existence. Both times I have dined here, there seemed to be a dedicated clientele base who had been several times. Ruby G’s features fresh, made to order selections with plenty of specials — the quesadillas and turkey club sandwich are both great, but the soup is what stands out here. On a recent visit, I sampled the potato broccoli soup — a lighter version than your standard cream of potato soups. It’s a great stop for lunch, very chill and relaxing. The owners/workers clearly take great pride in the quality of the food and service; they visit with every table to ensure your experience is the best it can be. The price is right, too — most lunches(with drink) come in at under $ 7, a bit more adds the delicious soup. I’ll definitely be back.
