Took my vintage bike in for total overhaul
Had them do same 4 or 5 years ago and was very happy with the job. This time not
The good. Bike rolls smoothly and gears shift as they should
The not so good. Bike hasn’t been ridden all winter and I thought that since it was a complete over haul they would of put air into tires. No
Forgot to put kick stand back on bike. Had to ask where it was.
The thing that they didn’t do where I could of been injured was tighten the stem from handle bars. Which means when I got on bike I had no control. I didn’t try riding bike until I was on flat surface lucky for me. For this to happen is totally unacceptable.
The mechanic blamed me for rushing him. When I took bike in I told them no hurry but they told me it would be ready on Saturday so I called before I came into shop
So I thought what grade should I give them. I want to be fair. I could of been seriously hurt because work was not done right. Grade F
Bottom line as I see it mechanic careless

Not friendly and not a place to rent bikes. The first time I tried to rent a bike I called ahead mentioning the day I wanted when my niece was visiting from out of town. When I showed up they said they had no bikes anymore. No apologies. The next time I tried to rent bikes from them they had bikes but had a new rule that you had to do an online process 24 hours ahead of time to rent a bike. This was not mentioned anywhere on their web site. My visitors were leaving the next day so again, no bike rental. I’ve rented bikes in Boston, San Francisco, San Diego, Chicago to ride around the city and never have I heard of a 24 hour approval process. Have they never heard of a credit card deposit for the rental? Maybe they are good for fixing bikes but certainly not for renting them. And again not friendly at all about it.

Great local shop. There seems to be too many shops around Milwaukee that have hipster bike guys working there that make you feel less than important since you don’t have the coolest and trendiest bike. This is definitely not the case at Rainbow Jersey. Excellent service and great products for your average cyclist like me.

Pros:
The staff is polite.
This place sucks.
Every time I went there to repair my bike, they replace parts which is neither necessary nor related.
Have to come back because they did not really fix the problem.
Never tell you why and what’s wrong with your bike.
I already gave up this place and maintain my bike on my own.

Very disappointed after our last visit. My husband purchased a $ 1,000 bike and realized after bringing it home that there was a chip in the paint that went down to the aluminum. He brought it back in to see if they could fix it or replace it, worried that it would eventually propagate and cause more damage. They had another one in the back and offered to switch it out. On his ride home he noticed the handle bars were bent and one of the shifters was catching on the break because it was warped, so he went back to the shop. The man helping us was short and spoke as though we were wasting his time, implying that all new bikes have defects. He indicated that they could file a warranty with Trek, but advised against it saying that it would take a long time and would inevitably get rejected. He went into the back room and a second man came out to the desk and asked for our credit card. Without telling us what he was doing he put a refund on the card and then said he couldn’t help us. The experience was very discouraging. I had hoped that if they couldn’t fix or replace the bike, they could at least explain what the options are, even if those options were only to keep the bike as is or take a refund. Regardless of the outcome, had they been friendly and upfront with us I would not have written this review. I would not recommend taking your business here solely based on the poor customer service. It is unfortunate since we prefer to keep business local.

These guys rock! They helped me out in a pinch and did a great job!!! I highly recommend!

We brought our son in to look at bikes for his 7^th birthday. He had been looking forward to this all week. We had questions about sizing, brakes, longevity, etc and the shop guy answered with very short answers and was really just rude. We will be going elsewhere to have these questions answered and to purchase his and any other future bikes. It’s a shame because we really wanted to keep our business in the community.

Since Rainbow Jersey is close to my home and I pass it daily on my bus commute, I stopped here to check out buying a bicycle around Christmastime. They were selling out their rental bikes, so my son and I took two bikes on a test ride. We explained that we were going to take the bike trail downtown so I could test out which one I would want to choose to commute back and forth to work. They had no problem that we took the bikes for several hours! Upon our return I settled on a commuter bike that was all outfitted with bell, back rack, and fenders. Since the bike was slightly used, I got a very good deal. I also bought a front light, back flashing reflector, lock, and helmet.
When my son came for another visit this summer, I returned and rented a bike for him for a whole week. This was quite expensive ($ 180), but he got a nice bike to ride for the week. The folks who work here are all friendly and know their bikes. I would definitely recommend this bike shop to anyone in the market to either buy or rent a bike. It is right across the street from the Oak Leaf Trail, so is quite convenient if you want to rent a bike for a day.

Well, it isn’t a Riverwest hangout for fixed-​gear hipsters. You won’t get any cool points for being spotted here, but Rainbow Jersey is a great store with a couple of serious pros doing their bike work.
The shop guys there charge very reasonable prices for simple stuff like tire changes. There is a menu of services to suit your needs, like $ 60 for a tune-​up, and they also offer tank-​cleaning if you want serious overhaulage. I saw that these guys were diligent and this is where our bikes are going for any future work.
As for retail, they charge fair prices for basics like pumps and safety lights. That is saying a lot, because other places around town really gouge on prices. The sticker prices here on cargo racks and locks here were almost half the price of similar stuff at Crank Daddy. I’m not knowledgeable on high-​end of the spectrum, but they had plenty of deals on those parts for sure.

Hands down the best bike shop in Milwaukee.
