From the outside it looks kinda like a rundown POS. Once you get inside that assumption is confirmed. The food however was super good. I don’t have cheese steaks often but I scarfed down my food. The cajun fries also hit the spot. The menu is pretty limited, which I’m cool with, but if you’re wanting something other than a cheese steak this isn’t the place. I was surprised by their hours(only open till 7pm M-Th & closed Sundays). The lady working there was really nice too.

As far away from Philly we are, this is the closest thing to a real Philly Cheesesteak as it gets in MKE. However they are very good, fresh and clean, I had tasted 3 different types of their cheesesteaks, flat out AWESOME. And fries are fresh to order, they have regular, chili, and seasoned fries. You can definitely get your fix here, and I dont mean drugs, CHEESESTAKEPEOPLE!

I wish I could give this place zero stars. I worked here and the owner is a piece of work. Always constantly complaining about customers who are spending money in his restaurant!!! He would yell and swear at the employees in front of customers, once saw him get into verbal arguments with customers. Don’t spend your money here and give the owner the time of day. He couldn’t keep staff to stay there, turnover rate is outrageous!!! Needless to say I walked out of the job and never been happier.

Just ok. Very greasy and salty. The bread was the best part.

First time to The Philly Way and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Cheese Steak with onions and«whiz» as in cheese whiz. I was a little worried how it would taste but I gotta say it was super good. Melt in your mouth cheesy goodness almost like nacho cheese. The chili cheese fries were also really good using the same kind of cheese found on the sub. The co worker had«The Works» with jalapeño peppers and mushrooms and she was happy as well however she was jealous of the whiz having gotten provolone. Soda’s are 12 ounce cans. The portions are very large and I felt like I got what I paid for. The restaurant on 2nd only has 3 indoor tables and a 4 place counter bar and there is a small outdoor area with 4 tables. Nothing fancy but sufficient. I plan on returning again.

This is a total dive whole in the wall. This is very small and has two tables so it was standing room only. It’s a simple idea which is grilled meat, grilled onions, cheese on a soft hogy bun. I had the original steak and cheese which was good but it Needed to be seasoned better. This was not roast beef turned into a Philly like some places pass off as a Philly. This was thin sliced steak chopped on the grill right in front of your eyes. I liked it better than chubbies because chubbies cheese wiz was very salty and I had provolone this time. The steak flavor was good with the grilled onions and gooey cheese.

After being in Philadelphia last summer, I was skeptical to see how good Philly Way was actually going to be. This cheesesteak can stand toe to toe with any cheesesteak I had in Philadelphia. Cheesesteak — 4.5÷5 Parking — 3⁄5 Service — 4⁄5

Cheesesteak with onion & wiz was to die for. The amoroso rolls just add to the perfection. We came in Friday afternoon to split a Cheesesteak & immediately after finishing we ordered another. So so so delicious!!!

My Milwaukee friend from Philly was over helping alphabetize my vinyl album collection(yes, you can say dork!) and I needed to treat him to some type of east coast hoagie dish. Why not get some take out from the Philly Way to make him feel at home while getting librarian on the music? I picked up the tasty goodness and it was decent but it wasn’t amazing. Even though I have been to Philadelphia only 3 times I even noticed a difference and of course my friend completely noticed a couple of slight differences. First, this batch was a little too peppery and typically I don’t mind the pepper but it was heavy handed. Second, I like the provolone on top of the sandwich. Every place does it different but I felt that there wasn’t enough cheesy goodness on the sandwich. Some people are adamant it belongs on the bottom of the sandwich but I think it tastes better on top… the old top vs. bottom debate :) Don’t get me wrong, I think that the Philly Way is amazing stuff but I just didn’t think these sandwiches were of the same quality that they normally serve. Bottom or top cheese preference aside, the sandwich is just not as good as cheese steaks I ate in Philly. It may have just been an off experience… but I will be back to quality test them again!

Best cheesesteak I’ve had outside of Philadelphia. No frills counter and a few small tables. All the focus is on the cheesesteak and they get it right. I usually get wit wiz. Highly recommend.

You’ll hate yourself for loving it. Its greasiness, Its saltiness. Its warm ooziness, Its supple chewy firmness. You gotta love this place for what it is: A Mecca for those seeking what they cannot get elsewhere, that true Philly fix. Its simplicity, its saltiness, Its rapid fire savory gut bomb artillery barrage. Ok, enough waxing poetic. It breaks down like this: 1. Simple menu. 2. Complete shithole facility. 3. Off-street parking. 4. Authentic Philly cheesesteaks. 5. Worst date-night destination ever.

After being in Philadelphia for a week I had the opportunity to try several of Philadelphia’s best cheese steaks. Philly Way has several of them beat hands down. I ordered the cheese steak with grilled onion and provolone. DELICIOUS ! I will be back !

I was craving a good cheesesteak and this was perfect! Less then $ 10. I got provolone cheese on it and it tastes great! Love the bread they use. Simple. Affordable. But very tasty! *only have a small variety of canned sodas to drink which lost a star for me.

This is a no frills little«hole in the wall» cheesesteak restaurant. I had the regular cheesesteak with Cheese Whiz and onions and an order of cheese fries. While the cheesesteak was tasty, for $ 7.49 I would have expected it to have more meat on it, a little chintzy… more Cheese Whiz would have been nice too. The sandwich definitely did not look like any of the pictures that have been offered up on this site, by far. The fries were decent but to be honest I thought they would have more Cheese Whiz too. This place is nowhere near the goodness that is Geno’s or Pat’s in Philadelphia(they load up the sandwich with steak) but I give it an extra star because they use Cheese Whiz. 13 bucks total, not worth it.

Food is great. I wish the owner would invest in uniforms for his team. I will still keep going there for a cheese steak and basket of fries.

After reading all the B/S about what the non-likers have to say… «They wouldn’t take my expired Groupon»… «What a dive» … Rude service!!! Etc… I had to write a review!!! 1.) A true cheese steak is «chopped up» ribeye with whiz and fried onions if you like. Keep the rest of the toppings for your salads! (you had to google that!!!) 2.) Eat it there if you can!!!(Drive around with any cheese steak and YES!!! It gets all soggy!!! Fries will turn soggy too!!!) Philly cheese steaks tend to BE greasy. If you are taking it with you say«not real greasy please». It helps alittle… 3.) The place is in a very old and SMALL building, deal with it! The workers have too!!! 4.) All the Philly cheese steaks I’ve had, have been GREAT!!! I work close by and probably go there too much lol !!! I Love the Cajun fries with a touch of whiz.(again eat them there!!!) The food just doesn’t travel well, Nothing anyone can do about that!!! I now leave early for work and eat everything there. 5.) Lastly,… yes the sodas are not too cold, feel it first and ask for a colder one. And if you complained about the price, go to Mc D’s down the street, they have a dollar menu!!! The workers do what they can with the small place they work in, but they have never been RUDE!!! Maybe just MAYBE you had it coming!!! I LOVEPHILLYWAY!!!

I think it’s fitting that I let the Philadelphia punk band The Loved Ones describe my feelings about Philly Way: «You can sit and wait for lightning to strike, but the wind will takes its toll» Follow me here. I like Philly Way, in theory. The food is usually really good, and it’s a stone’s throw from my friend’s place. I probably end up eating way more process cheese than anyone should. My issue is that for every completely positive experience I have, there are a couple of maddening ones to go along with it. Last time I had PW, I ordered 2 sanguiches and 2 orders of cheese fries. I walk across the street triumphantly bearing dinner for my pal and I and I’m shocked to discover that they got all 4 items wrong. 100% fail. How unlikely is that? Thankfully I was so close, but when I returned to have the error corrected I took some guff from the gal behind the counter. Super frustrating. This is but one example of the issues I’ve had with P Dubs. In closing: Usually awesome food, frustrating shenanigans, process cheese. The food is good enough to garner 3 stars, the service gets none.

I went back the other night… omg still just as good! I love that their staff is super friendly, we chatted with one of the employees pretty much the whole time between making our orders to finishing our phillys. I tried the cajun fries for the first time, fries with a special seasoning with a side of cheese whiz. Pretty good, but I think I’ll stick with the chili cheese fries, a bit more flavor and more cheese whiz(can you tell, I’m a fan of the whiz?). Conclusion, I love this place! My only negative is that they aren’t open late enough.

Simply put, you won’t find a better cheesesteak in Wisconsin than at The Philly Way. This is as close as you’ll get to the real thing in the Midwest. The actual restaurant is a real hole-in-the-wall… exactly how it should be for a cheesesteak joint! I always go with the Cheese lovers that includes cheese whiz, American and Provolone. It is incredibly messy but worth every single bite. There isn’t much seating here, especially in the winter since most of the indoor area is more like a garage so it gets cold. Basically, try to avoid rush hour times so you can eat at the fully indoor area(only 3 – 4 tables). I appreciate that they actually have a(free) parking lot, a rarity for a downtown food establishment. But back on the topic of the food itself — it is A M A Z I N G. This is a Milwaukee gem that you absolutely must try.
