At the time of this original review, my computer had a meltdown but you never forget shitty service. I had lived a few blocks from Mazo’s for a good four years; always wanted to try it. Finally ordered some carry-out with the intention of getting the next westbound bus. I ordered a basic cheeseburger, only ketchup, and a side of fries. Fifteen minutes into waiting and I had missed my bus. So I asked if my carry-out order could become eat in. This is where it gets ugly. I was told by the waitress that you cannot order carry-out and eat it inside. Excuse being that they already put the burger in a container. I asked the waitress if they were joking. Sure enough they weren’t. Lo and behold after loud smashing in the kitchen, and a likely glob of spit in my burger, they put my burger in a basket. It must have killed them inside to waste a small container. The burger was basic and diarrhea inducing while the fries were obviously frozen. It’s not worth the squirts you’ll have later. Went to use the shitter and heard the«owner»(who made my burger) mocking me. Yelling in an obvious tone«are you joking?!» I came out to see the rude imbecile standing outside of the kitchen glaring at me again. I don’t care how long you’ve been around, grandma. You simply cannot treat your customers that way. What a waste of time and money.

After hearing countless people talk about Mazo’s and seeing it on nearly every burger list in Milwaukee it was time to finally try it. Upon walking in the place feels familiar, like a place you’ve been before. Decorated with various prints and paintings from the 30s and 40s. the menu is simple and basic, which isn’t a surprise. The prices are great and they offer a nice option of sides. I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger with american cheese and no onions. with French fries(they also have American Fries if you so choose) and a cup of Chicken Noodle soup. My fiancé ordered the Supreme Burger with lettuce, tomato, thousand island dressing and bacon. Few minutes later the soup came out and it was very hot, which is nice and it tasted quite good. Little after i finished the soup our burgers came out, The burgers are pretty good sized. After the first bite i said«That’s a pretty fucking good cheeseburger» and it was. easily one of the best in the Milwaukee area. i would much rather come here for burgers than most places. My fiancé really enjoyed her burger. The French and American fries are quite good, and so was the cottage cheese side. After the check came we decided maybe we should take a strawberry shake to go, you know just in case. And that itself was awesome. I will be back. You should go too. **Also, they don’t accept tip via credit card, so you will want to bring cash. *** They have a few parking spots behind the restaurant too!

Great Hamburgers, I love the choice of sides. The prices are decent for what you get, the wait staff were attentive. The bathroom was small but clean. I would go here again.

I’ve been meaning to try this place for 8 years now(since moving here and discovering Leon’s across the street). They have odd hours(well from the perspective of a middle aged couple from Chicago, the hours make perfect sense to my octogenarian small-town father-in-law). They open for breakfast, their main meal is lunch, but they only stay open until 6:45 p.m. so the blue-haired crowd can have supper. This is another Milwaukee time-machine, walk through the door and it’s 1965. I was in fact a little afraid I would encounter a «no colored people» policy but we were greeted with the sincere friendliness that predates corporate scripted«customer service.» Unlike the other nostalgic places I’ve enjoyed that haven’t changed in decades, this one is extremely clean. It’s like it’s preserved from the«Happy Days.» But it’s maybe not the sort of place The Fonz would actually hang out in, it is a diner, but a step up in class. Paintings of Johnny Carson, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, and Tom Jones are surrounded by other period pictures, photographs, and my favorite, old advertisements. The waitstaff is crisp and clean in mid-twentieth century style uniforms, friendly and efficient without being intrusive or annoyingly obsequious. Then there’s the food. For religious and health reasons, I’m not supposed to eat this sort of stuff, but if I’m going to cheat, it’s going to be here. It’s a close one, but I think these are the best burgers in town. I think anyone who likes hamburgers, whether you’re allowed to eat them or not, would enjoy this place, but I most recommend Mazos to those of you who can remember going to eat lunch with friends before the days of the fast food giants. And if they’re still young enough to have time for you, bring your grand-children. This is the perfect lunch if you’re going to spend the afternoon at the antique stores in Walker’s Square/Walker’s Point/Bayview. They take credit cards, but you’ll need cash for the tip.

So this place has been around for years! It’s small and cozy. You walk in and pick your seat. Their menu is also small BUT sooooo good. Everything is homemade. And the price is top notch. Cheese burger with two sides and a drink for under 10 $ that’s a bet. Their burgers are one of the best I have tasted. It’s family owned and they kept up their great food over the years. The down fall is you can’t put a tip on your credit card. Also the service is fast and mostly friendly.

Love this place! There Burgers, soups, milkshakes, fries, etc… Are all homemade and DELICIOUS!!! Hands down, my favorite place for a Burger and soup. The only thing I don’t care for is the cook screaming at the staff from the back. I guess you get a show though.

Mazo’s is a Milwaukee gem. Old school feel to it and just a classic mom and pop style restaurant. The food is out of bounds, one of the best burgers in town. Love the staff, the atmosphere, I cannot complain about this place. I always enjoy my experience at Mazo’s.

Such a cute place, not noisy like the typical burger place. Food was great and prices low. We will be back.

Mazo’s is a tiny hole-in-the-wall on Mikwaukee’s south side. It’s one of those places that you drive by about a fifty times before you realize it’s there, and another fifty times before you remember it’s there again. I love pretty much everything about this place. It’s tiny, quaint, is rich with family history, and serves up DELICIOUS, fresh ground hamburgers. Do yourself a favor and give this joint a try.

Don’t go at Saturday dinner hour. They had one person in the kitchen. It took 45 minutes to get a burger and fries. Why not hire some help? Prices are very low, so maybe that’s why. Burger was good. Fries were boring. Service was friendly, except for the woman in the kitchen yelling at the servers through the window.

Mazos is definitely a place that has survived over the years due to the nostalgia of dining here. I love that it’s still family-owned and they haven’t changed much. I’m sure they’ve always made the burgers the same way since the 1930s. My cheeseburger and fries were okay but definitely nothing spectacular. In fact, I think I enjoyed the split pea soup more than the famous burgers here.

I always enjoy coming here because their burgers are classic. Established in 1934, it is still family owned and operated. Very minimal seating, and peak hours it can be difficult to snag a table, but between the low prices, quality and amount of food you get, it’s worth the wait. My absolute favorite dish is the split pea soup! It is quite possibly the best I have ever had, and followed by a fresh made bacon burger is pure heaven. I am also a fan of their strawberry-chocolate malt. I would have given 5 stars, but you can sometimes feel a but rushed due to limited seating, and they only take cash.

OLD. SCHOOL. This place has been here since 1934 and there’s a reason. I had burgers here when I was in high school(which is still a block away) and I had burgers here last night. The interior is dreary, bland and dated. It’s a shame they can’t sharpen it up a bit, but the food is stand out, and you can’t eat the interior, soooo… The verdict. DELICIOUS. Juicy burgers and cheeseburgers grilled to perfection. The joint is always packed with families and locals enjoying burgers before rolling across the street to Leon’s for some custard. In fact, I’d wager that this is a factor in this places’ longevity — a symbiotic relationship with Leon’s across the street. Been here forever. Come on down to the south side for a damn BURGER!!!

One of the best burgers I have ever eaten. Wow. Mazo’s is a classic Milwaukee institution. Small and intimate setting, fantastic service that is like dining with your family, and those burgers… whoah. Bacon Cheeseburger, crinkle-cut fries, and homemade chicken noodle soup is where it’s at. Taste was on point — perfectly ground and seasoned meat, gigantic patties, and fresh toppings. Did I mention the chocolate malts? Holy amazeballs. I could vacuum one up RIGHTNOW. If you enjoy a delicious burger and have never been here, fix that situation – and soon. Among the stellar Milwaukee burger institutions, Mazo’s is definitely in my Top 5, if not Top 3… and as you know, there are a LOT of places to grab a good burger in the four one four! For real… CHOCOLATEMALT + burger. I may head here tonight for dinner!

Mazos was the first burger I had in MKE, so I can say I am kind of partial to them. We’ve got lotsa history here! MAY-ZOHZZZ, say it with me now… Simply original delicious homemade burgers, no fuss. Two sides are included, with soup, fries and cottage cheese as some options. For under six bucks you can’t get much of a better meal value with a good quality burger as a part of it! It’s a tough call between a malt here or taking a quick walk across the street for frozen custard. Never a bad decision, either way.

Mazo’s qualifies for one of my top five favorite burger joints in town. Family run & owned since 1934. The meat is ground fresh onsite every morning. Burgers are made to order & come with your choice of toppings & condiments. I usually order a single bacon cheeseburger loaded, the patty cooks up to be about ¾″ thick. Not to thin or thick. Your burger comes with 2 sides with choices like French fries, chili, cottage cheese, applesauce or homemade soup. The Malts are pretty awesome too, thick & tasty. Great ambiance with an old diner décor. You’ll find framed old newspaper clippings boasting about the restraints past & pictures of celebrities like Johnny Carson & Dean Martin. Parking can be tough with only 10 spots available behind the building. Or, you can street park it along 27’th street. Seating at the diner counter or tables is limited, a line sometimes forms out the door during peak hours Mazo’s does shut down for a week during mid-summer for a well deserved family vacation If you skip the malt, be sure to stop by Leon’s for their awesome custard. They are across the street.
