My freshman year of college I decided I wanted to do martial arts to get in shape. I was recommended to the Futen Dojo by a friend and it definitely was a good choice. It is a very small dojo so you get a lot of attention and always a personalized plan. They teach three types of Japanese martial arts; Jujutsu, Ninpo, and Koyru Karate. Each one has its own completely different style and the instructors help you choose the one that is right for you. The best part of the dojo has to be Coleman Sensei, the owner. He is very respectful, very professional, and very friendly. He gets to know everyone personally and will have a chat with you anytime you want. There also trips to Japan to train with the grandmaster for a week which I have sadly not been able to go to. I originally went to study weapons just for fun, but got more into the rest of the martial arts. I also became very impressed with the rest of the teachings of Coleman Sensei about living life. He is very respectful of everyone’s opinions and as such a lot of people wish to talk all session, sometimes it does happen, but sensei will get us right back on track. All in all, this dojo can improve your life in many ways.
