Their payment system«messed up» and another customer received food with my account information while I was not even in the state. I was in New York at the time, happened to check my account and there were two fraudulent charges totaling about $ 86. I assumed it was fraud so I had to leave work early then spent my time at the bank and wasted more gas driving to go to the restaurant. I went to the bank to file a claim of fraud and then went to the restaurant and the owner or whoever it was gave me a check for $ 36 and said the $ 50 charge would drop off of my pending transactions. He explained their system had malfunctioned. I cashed the check but the bank also moved $ 36 into my account to reverse the transaction. I told my bank I was paid twice and they said they could reverse it if he just called in to say he already paid me back. The owner called me once asking«had I cashed his check, he got a letter from my bank»… How can he not see that in his account??? Now the owner is calling me at all hours of the night on a daily basis from random numbers(after 10pm) instead of calling the bank. I know it is him after doing a number look-up that results in a number for the restaurant or for that building. I am beyond mad and it’s almost harassment at this point. Over $ 46 that I didn’t authorize them to take in the first place. Unbelievable!!!

Just moved a block down the street and so far this is the best Chinese food I’ve had since moving to the Milwaukee area two years ago.

My wife and I first starting going to East Garden around 1985, or shortly after it opened. The restaurant looked dated then, and 30 years later, it looks the same. Yet the food, then and now, is worth a visit. It was Milwaukee’s best Chinese food when we frequented East Garden, and the reviews hanging on the wall indicate the accolades continued well into the 2000’s. When we ate there with our family this week, the food didn’t disappoint. The Shrimp War-ba was just as we remembered: fresh, flavorful, slightly sweet, served on a sizzling platter on top of cakes of rice. The curry shrimp, sesame beef and egg rolls are all first rate. As other reviewers have mentioned, it pays to try something different than the norm at East Garden.

Perhaps the best Chinese food I’ve ever eaten. We ordered delivery today to celebrate and it definitely did not disappoint. On the menu for us: sesame chicken via recommendation from fellow Unilocalers and boy it was delicious, shrimp curry that was just the right amount of spicy and sweet, the three delight fried rice, and the star of the night, in my opinion, was the vegetable egg roll. Even with delivery it was crisp and filled with flavorful vegetables that woke up my palette. Not only was the food above standard, but the service was great as well. I’ve never had an over the phone order go so smoothly. Nor have I ever had such a friendly delivery person. The portion sizes are huge and you definitely get your money’s worth. Will be eating leftovers for the next few days(something I’m not upset about one bit). 10⁄10 would definitely order again.

I like this place! We always order for delivery and it’s always fast and on time. We like the mu shu pork, orange chicken and spicy chicken with fresh green beans. Three delight fried rice is also yummy.

Best Chinese in Milwaukee, that’s for sure. I think the trick with this place is to venture from the normal fried rice and beef with broccoli that you get when you order takeout and go for the«house specials» menu which is the first page in the menu book they give you. Right away, you can see these are the more authentic Chinese dishes. I had the beef with pickled veggies and it was amazing. It was actually some of the best Chinese food I’ve had(maybe I need to get out more, I don’t know). The flavors are simple but delicious. My boyfriend tried the beef with green beans and it was also very good. Can’t wait to come back here and try the bean curd everyone is raving about!

Try the new-added entrees! I recommended Stir fried eggplant with green pepper and potato for vegetarians.

I ate at Easy Garden several years ago and had a pleasant experience. However, this time we had less than average experience. We had a party of 4 and rather than bus an empty table, we were placed at a large round table appropriate for a party twice our size. Service was very slow. The restaurant was not crowded, but we waited a long time for our meals, our drinks and dinners came out at different times, the waitress dogs not check back after serving our meals and we had to track her down to get containers for our leftovers and the check. Food was average at best. I would think twice before returning.

I haven’t written a review of East Garden yet? I could have sworn I did. A step above your average Chinese-American fare, that’s for sure. Arguably the best in town. When I lived on the East Side, and later on in Riverwest, this was the place to go for Chinese that was a step above the dreck you can get on Farwell. The price is a bit higher than the standard take-out Chinese places, of course, but the quality is higher to match it. Literally anything on the menu is great, but I really like their sesame chicken. They get the sauce just right and the chicken is always tender and meaty(not half-fat/half-skin/half-batter like so many places versions of the dish. The service is always great, too. The hostess and servers are really friendly.

We ordered three different dinners tonight, garlic chicken, general tso’s and shrimp with lobster sauce, and none of us really liked our dinner. The garlic chicken had very little chicken and no vegetables, the general tso’s chicken was rubbery and did not seem very fresh. The lobster sauce was very thin and the person in our group took only a few bites and threw it out. New to Shorewood, we were searching for a good Chinese restaurant, and after tonight, the search continues!

Best Chinese food in Milwaukee! I’ve been getting Chinese from East Garden for many, many years since I was a kid, almost always as take-out.(I may have possibly eaten here once or twice as dine-in, I can’t honestly remember.) Thus, my review mainly speaks to the food and restaurant, itself, not necessarily customer service or atmosphere. Nonetheless, if you like Chinese-American food, go to East Garden! I’ve tried so many Chinese restaurants and more often than not, the food is pretty questionable. Gross meats, nasty sauces, unidentifiable ingredients, mentioned on Dirty Dining. overall, unappetizing. This is NOT the case with East Garden. I really love(d) their beef kung pao, pork fried rice, beef and broccoli, beef with veggies(several dishes like this), crab rangoons, wonton soup, pork lo mein, just to name a few. I’ve recently strayed away from eating much meat, so I now order the veggie option for a lot of these dishes. However, when I did eat meat, I appreciated how legit, if you will, their meat was. The restaurant itself seems clean, relatively quiet, and I’ve always had friendly employees when calling my order in/picking it up.

Been coming here for about 8 years now. Excellent food. Inconsistent service. The food is almost always worth the chance of dealing with occasionally inept staff. Crab rangoon is delicious. Veggie dumplings are outstanding. Bean curd with garden veggies are awesome, as is the beef & broccoli. I’m not a fan of the flavor of their sesame beancurd, but they make it exceptionally well as far as I can tell. Most of the time things go well. A few times they’ve given

I’m going to guess from some of the old restaurant reviews and awards posted on the walls that this restaurant has declined somewhat over the years. The parking is convenient, the interior is clean and comfortable, the service was quite good, but the food wasn’t. We ordered some standard popular Cantonese-American dishes, but the stuff that was supposed to be crispy was soggy, the sauces were bland, some of it seemed to be reheated rather than made fresh. Usually I look forward to Chinese restaurant leftovers, but we didn’t even bother to have our wrapped this time. Rather disappointing.

I went to this place a few times and was not particularly impressed. Until I tried the Sesame Bean Curd. It is absolutely wonderful. Great texture, incredibly flavorful, and unlike any dish I have ever tried before at a Chinese Restaurant! I’m giving four stars because I’d say that most of the food here is about average, but the sesame bean curd is outstanding. I usually get it with an order of vegetables and it goes perfectly with the bean curd and the flavorful sauce.

I have ordered from here before and the food has been ok. Today I ordered and the food was very disappointing. The hot and sour soup was neither hot or sour. It was bland broth that tasted like nothing. I also ordered the triple Szechwan seafood, upon opening the container I was hit with a very fishy smell. It tasted exactly like it smelled made it unappetizing to eat.

Sesame bean curd = to die for! I ate the crap out of this stuff in college. Fond memories, indeed. Beyond that, I feel like this place is pretty run o’ the mill«Americanized» Chinese(which is perfectly fine, people!) and they deliver, to boot. I do love me some Jing’s for Americanized Chinese these days, but now that I’m back on the East Side of town/Riverwest… East Garden, I’m coming back to ya to see what yr all about in 2013!

Oh, East Garden. My darling, dear, old friend. We were both born in the year of the Pig, and of everyone I’ve known that long, you’re the only one never to betray me. A creature of habit, I order the same thing every time. Lucky for the sake of this review, my four year old child has a far more adventurous palate than his mother. Sesame bean curd, you are SPECTACULAR. I don’t care how they make it, just that they never stop. It’s amazing. Soups are hot, fresh, sustaining. Vegetables are crisp, fresh, still bright with vitality. I tend to judge a restaurant(and a chef) by its simplest dish, and East Garden’s assorted fancy vegetables passed the test. The staff is friendly, warm and charming. The décor is comforting in its predictability. From lo mein to sha cha, and from moo shoo to hon siu, East Garden delivers every time.(And, yes, they deliver too!)
