I was here for their Wednesday night stand up competition, supporting a friend(she won, by the way!). I did some research into the venue ahead of time because I didn’t know anything about it. The rules and warnings on their website come across as pretty prickly and off-putting. However, we had a pretty good experience with the people we came into contact with and it was all fine and good. There is indeed no cover for Wednesday night stand up competition, but there is a two drink minimum. This is accomplished by you waiting for the waitress to come around and take your order. Their fruity, frozen drinks menu is pretty fun(I tried the Purple People Eater), though it may not pack much of a punch alcohol-wise. Either that, or they accidentally brought me a virgin cocktail. Otherwise I had a mixed rail drink, which was fine. The joint was packed when we were there, but we somehow got seats right down in front. I don’t think there is really a bad seat — you can see from pretty much anywhere. The house comedians were pretty funny, but unless there were a comic that I was familiar with, I’m not sure I’d come here just to take my chances on a laugh.

Walked right up to the comedy café! We were a little late but the guy at the door just asked if were College students or had reservations and we said nope. He still just said well tonight your college students and let us in. Legit. We both got two drinks anyways and my boyfriend tipped the server well. The comedian was Quinn dahle as the main act and we both thought he was great! Had us laughing pretty much throughout the whole act. He did a lot of Improv and worked with the crowd which was enjoyable. Smaller place but I liked it. For my drink I ordered bubbly and it came in a personal mini bottle which I loved! Great experience. No complaints.

I got in free because it was a friend’s birthday. There is still a 2 drink minimum which I was fine with. I think maybe my two drinks added up to $ 16. The opening guy was clearly just getting his feet weet. The following comedian was pretty good. The final guy was the best and maybe it was because he was a local guy who could make Dirty Stallis jokes. Seating is a bit tight because the venue is oddly shaped. But I would totally go back. It’s a nice change of pace.

Went to the Comedy Café recently, the big guy the door had me laughing before I sat down, my waitress was very Professional, drinks were awesome, and reasonable, and the headliner was very funny, and the other 2 were good. I would highly recommend a evening with friends at the comedy Café.

Wtf. We showed up at 715 for what I had were«free» tickets to a 8pm show where doors opened at 7. We were hoping to get the two drinks minimum, hang out for a bit then head back to our hotel. But we show up and the upstairs door is locked. Some guy is in the corridor and says that sometimes they jump the show back to 9. What awful business practices. Overall weird. Plus, this website says handicapped accessible and my husband who’s fighting cancer had to haul up 30 stairs to the top. Not a great experience at all.

The best part of the night… security entering while waiting for show and wait staff. Worst part: entertainment and management. We came in for my birthday a party of 13 all the way from Honolulu Hawaii. To start, they were unable to accommodate despite reservations so we ended up going to late show. At best seating was 3 separate tables sitting in. a row. Management pulled me off to the side to discuss«talking» during the show from members in the party.(Saturday night late night show no talking? Hmmmm I didn’t realize we went to church) in fact, the headlining comedian mentioned«talking» at his show while on stage. But above all the comedians were NOT funny. I do not believe these people are truely in the entertainment industry. I’m thinking they are a bunch of office workers(no offense) who can’t quit their day job. I would not recommend this establishment. Seating poor, parking inadequate, waitstaff friendly, management sucks, comic October 10, 225. Not funny. William krolowitz was a waste of money!

The Comedy Café has been a rad place to find entertainment on the weekend. The entire staff works hard to provide the best service – everyone who works there dedicates themselves to providing a great experience. they are charming and fantastic people to get to know over the last few years of being a weekly attendant to their club. Comedy is a subjective art form, but you’ll always find laughs at this comedy club. Go Check it out and Have A GOODTIME! support your comedy scene!

We were there last night for a friends birthday and the personnel was super rude to us. They kept shutting up everyone around us with no reason. It is a comedy club… You will expect people is going to laugh and comment with your group about the joke. Nobody was disturbing anybody around and nobody was being loud. They need to remember that they are running a business because of their customers. The show was good and entertaining at least!

Need to know: –Local, regional, up and coming national acts. –Nice servers, even with pricey cocktails and beer. –2 drink minimum. –The best seats are right up front. Get ‘em when you can. –The unfortunately named Tom Brady(from Chicago) was a riot. Crass, crazy, dirty… loved every minute of his set! –Leaving after a set? Smoke out city(hold your breath if you’re not a smoker or don’t want secondhand INYOFACE) –Saturday night = hecklers. Don’t let these knuckleheads ruin your evening; the comics will quickly put these attention-seekers in their place!

The boyfriend wanted to check out Comedy Café so we came here for date night* on Saturday.(Date night now refers to anything where I put on real pants and leave the house for more than an hour after 6pm). They have 3 shows on Saturday night starting at 5:30p I believe. We ended up catching the 10p show. I assume you have to be 21 or older because they ID you. A hostess leads you to your table. These tables are tiny but meant to seat 4. Luckily, it was just the two of us so we had a little more room. So here’s my beef with this place — they have a cover, $ 10/person. This is understandable. BUT, they also have a two drink minimum/person. So really, expect to pay around $ 25/person. The show itself, I would imagine, depends on the acts. They are about 2 hours long. There were 3 openers, one longer act, and the main act. We had 3 locals, Tom Brady from Chicago and Dave Waite from LA. Drinks were okay, I think catering more to a female audience. Many frozen, sweet cocktails. I thought they were tasty but I wish they had a soft drink menu as well. Overall, I enjoyed the show and would come back.

I’m going to go ahead and five-star Comedy Café. Ventured out with a few friends, had a blast. There were two opening acts and a headliner, but honestly, the opening acts were my favorite. The servers worked hard to keep the drinks coming, the prices were reasonable, and I laughed. A lot. Admission, and three beers ran us about $ 22. Thumbs up :)

My buddy was competing in an open mic contest so I headed over to The Comedy Café on Wednesday night. Once a month, the last Wednesday consecutively, they allow eight competitors to present 5 minutes of open mic time and compete for a regular spot at the club. The parking lot maybe fits 7 cars, but there is ample street parking as it’s at the very beginning of Brady street, where it meets Water. There is no cover charge, however there is a two drink minimum — glad to hear that non alcoholic beverages counted as well. They had several low tables and a few high tops against the wall. All the walls were covered in mirrors, giving the small spot an illusion of much more space. It’s whatever — I find that lazy and distracting. The lighting is low and the bar is small. Apparently you cannot get anything from the bar unless you are a performer — everyone else needs to order from servers. Well that sucks when each server has 15 tables and is running around like crazy. They were clearly paying favorites to the tables that wanted more expensive drinks and shots. Our server was as attentive as possible, but there were several times that our drinks say empty. The emcee was awkward and several of the«regulars» were plain AWFUL! I have sympathy for the terrible comics trying it out for the first time or whatever, but these people that they continue to bring back on purpose were just not great. I thought that they drug the competition on wayyy too long, having the emcee perform, then competitors, then at least 5 ‘regulars’. They didn’t explain the voting process well at all and many people were confused. I got two Coors Lights for $ 9 total which wasn’t bad, although the menu only showed their mixed silly named cocktails and shots. I would go back to check out my boy *WHOWONBYTHEWAY*, but I wouldn’t go back just to chill.

Liquid laughter in the forms of some delicious drinks… Nutty monkey, several different piña coladas… Wine, beer, flavorful and creative shots. Solid comedy. It varies, naturally, and some people(usually men) are funnier than women… But we have been several times, and always laugh. A lot. Gaseous humor. Not always, of course, but what can I say? I’m a sucker for some toilet humor. Also, the popcorn(pretty cheap or free with a foursquare deal) is a perfect salty accoutrement to complement a sweet date. Go ahead and laugh out loud.

Went last night for the first time with a group of friends for a bachelorette party. There were 9 of us and they were accommodating in moving us to the front of the room instead of off to the side where they had originally put us. You save money on admission if you buy your tickets in advance, but the only way they will guarantee your seats are together is if you get there early enough before the show. I feel for larger parties they should be able to reserve /hold tables together for you. Who would want to be separated from their friends when you’re going together as a group for a reason? They also have a 2 drink minimum per person and their drinks are a little on the pricey side for what you get. The 2 guys that were there last night were both pretty dang funny, and I’d think about going back at some point to see another show. Overall, this is a fun thing to go out & do if you’re looking for something a little different to mix things up a bit, but just know that it’s going to cost you at LEAST $ 30 before you walk out the door.

I’ve heard some bad things about this place, and reading some of the reviews I was still a little uneasy about it, but I went and had a pretty damn good time. Admission is $ 9 if you call ahead and make reservations. What’s better than that, if you pay attention to their Facebook page, you can find deals all the time. What did I pay last night for admission? 4 canned goods. So, not only was my admission the cost of 4 cans of peas… it went to a good cause as well. They do have a 2 drink minimum, but thats standard for any comedy club you go to. Drinks are not outrageously priced or anything and they are made pretty damn strong. As far as the comedians go, it changes every weekend, so I’m sure there will be a mix of good guys one weekend and not so good the next. I found 2 of the 3 main comedians pretty funny, so it would have still been worth it even if I didn’t pay with vegetables. I’ll definitely be going back.

I’m really glad this place has survived changes in ownership. Laughing is one of my favorite activities! The talent is mostly comedians I’ve never heard of, but I am almost always pleasantly surprised. Like most comedy clubs, they have a two-drink minimum, but they frequently run specials for free admission, which makes this a great value. Just join their email list and sign up for their texts to learn about their specials. The place is pretty well-maintained and the staff is mostly friendly. You can typically find street parking, but valet parking is also available for $ 5 or $ 6. Every weekend features different performers so check their website. If you want to see what your made of, they have an open mic night on Wednesdays.

We went to support a friend for open-mic night. I was surprised at how much we laughed! Obviously, since it’s open-mic night, there were some hits and some misses. There was a moment when a heckler got a little out of control, and actually threatened to beat up the emcee… that was awkward. If you need to use the bathroom — it looks pretty scary. I didn’t get mugged, though. We had a good time, and if you stick with cheap drinks, the price is absolutely right.

Having been here at least a few times in the last year, I can safely say that I’m a fan. If improv’s your thing, go to Comedy Sportz, but if you like stand-up, then Comedy Café is a solid option. Located where Water and Brady meet, this club is in a great location between the downtown area and the East side, making it easy to grab a pre-show dinner or a post-show nightcap. The staff is friendly in everything from phone reservations to greeting guests at the door to the bar service. Admission promotions are easy to find(mailing lists, Groupon, Living Social); I’m not sure I’ve ever paid the posted ticket price to get in. Yes, there’s a two-drink minimum per person, but those two drinks count for non-alcoholic drinks too. Cocktails aren’t too ridiculously priced($ 6 for a mixed drink, $ 7 for a blended drink, beer varies), and if you are choosing to indulge, it’s an easy location from which you can hop on the bus or grab a taxi. The best thing about Comedy Café is that it’s just a basic, intimate comedy club — don’t expect anything fancy. It’s comedy, plain and simple, and that’s absolutely perfect.

Comedy: okay. Some hits and some misses. The emcee was awful. He is obviously in training(or they need to get him some, fast) his jokes were crude and he felt so uncomfortable with pauses it made me uncomfortable. It all depends on who you see, of course. If this was based on comedy alone, I would give 3 stars. However, the 2 drink minimum is severely obnoxious. Here’s why: Boyfriend bought the livingsocial deal that included a bottle of champagne. We were informed that the two drink minimum still applied…2 per person. In total, we ordered 3 non-alcoholic drinks(one specialty drink that could be described as a smoothie, one bottled water, one cranberry juice) and one martini. The bill was $ 28 before tip. What a freaking ripoff! The waitress was overworked, too. All the comedians told us to generously tip our waitresses as they were working so hard. Huh, how annoying, you make me buy $ 28 worth of drinks I didn’t want so you can employ these people and then you berate me about tipping them? Oh course we did, but this two drink crap-o-la really ticks me off. First of all, most people drive here. That seems incredibly unsafe and irresponsible. Fine, you want to force people to buy your overpriced alcohol or outrageously priced water and juice? Be responsible and have a one drink minimum. I don’t think Wisconsin is lacking a strong drinking population. People who want to drink two drinks will order them anyway. Forcing me to buy a $ 7 bottle of water is just outrageous. Then, why offer a bottle of champagne with your livingsocial deal? We ended up drinking about half the bottle and were told we couldn’t take it with us. What a waste of money. I am so disappointed.
