South of Holt(or Howard, if you want to go deep south side) = SoHo SoHo = a whole new world. It’s a foreign land; a world where nobody knows my name, so basically, it’s like the opposite of Cheers. I like it. Keeps me on my toes and reminds me that MKE is bigger than I feel like it is, sometimes. In a quest to hit some never-before reviewed spots on Unilocal,Luke and I ventured out post Fritz’s fish fry Friday, app in hand, actively searching for never-reviewed watering holes in the general vicinity. Enter Cloud Bar: not even listed on Unilocal,my interest was piqued as we drove by for that very reason. U-turn, turn left on Howard, and here we are. Armed with no information about this place, none at all, we had zero idea as to what to expect. I’ll tell you what I didn’t expect: a southside metal motorcycle nerd bar, that’s what. Guess what? That’s what this place is, as best I can ascertain. CHEAPCHEAPCHEAP: $ 2.75/single pour rail cocktail. $ 2.75/High Life Iron Man II on teevee, Metallica on the jukebox, an action figure diorama of sorts above that one punching/boxing bar game I like so much, Demolition Man pinball, and black lights. And CHEAP. We were made to feel as welcome as any randos would at this clearly neighborhood/regular spot. Internet jukebox gave me the opportunity to establish legitimacy and credibility w/Slayer’s «Raining Blood» post Metallica. I think it was a good look for us at the time. Anyways, super random! Cool! Cheap! A little strange! Add it to your southside rotation should you feel so inclined… Cloud Bar sure surprised me, it may surprise you as well.
