Food: 3.5÷5 Service 4⁄5 Let me start off by talking about the service. It’s FANTASTIC here! The waitress is so nice and friendly and was super quick to get us whatever we needed. I ordered this pan fried noodle dish, and it took a while to come out because it takes longer to make, so she gave my group free shaved snow on the house for the wait. Super sweet of her! I’ve also come with a big group of 15 hungry college kids around 30 minutes before closing and they were super accommodating, didn’t rush us at all, and also gave the entire group 4 plates of shaved snow. She also gave us a small plate of fried fish to try, saying that it was a secret dish. Absolutely delicious! The food is also pretty good. Flavors are there mostly. I loved their pan fried noodle with black pepper beef, soooo mouth watering good. Their honey walnut shrimp was also delicious! However their fried rice was a disappointment, it wasn’t mixed very well because a few bites were super salty, and then the next few bites were rather bland. Meh for me. They have a large variety of dishes, so I’ll definitely be coming back for more!

Again, the owners of this wonderful hidden Chinese Hong Kong style restaurant has overdone themselves with their honest recommendations to my nonprofit buddies. Definitely May knows her customers very well and greets you like her own family! Excellent food and excellent service that just cannot be beat so please do visit them and become a permanent member like me! Love both John & May!

I waited a while before writing this review so I could do it justice. I am so glad we have a go-to Chinese place now. We’ve lived in this area for about 3 years and have struggled to find a decent Chinese place that serves up authentic HK dishes that is both tasty and fresh. We have arrived. The owners are the nicest people you will meet. I am not even exaggerating. Every time we have dined in we have been treated like we are part of their family. They always give my kids treats like juice boxes or candies and John, the owner/chef always makes it a point to come out of the kitchen to chat with us. When I brought my parents(they are in their 60s and are super picky about their Chinese food — my dad was a cook in HK) John and his wife brought beers to the table to honor my parents. WHODOESTHAT? Wok Star Express does! The service is phenomenal but the true star is the food. We have been coming here for about 8 months and on the regular, we have never been disappointed in any of the dishes. The highlights are the HK style salt and pepper platter with pieces of pork, chicken wings and fish filets, the beef chow fun, beef lo mein, the sweet and sour chicken is a favorite of my kids(all white meat chicken!), the hot and sour soup(perfection), and their honey walnut prawns. Their HK style café dishes are super yummy too! When I’m sick I only want their pork and preserved egg congee(with extra preserved egg, of course!). I have more to say(I’m sure you’re surprised) but I think you should stop reading reviews on Chinese places because as I found out: you have arrived.

We discovered this place through Unilocal. We were skeptical when we arrived but to our surprise, the food and service exceeded our expectations so much(i’d give a high 5-star if i could) We had the salt and pepper chicken wing(a must try), black bean paste chicken, mixed veg and a soup. Food was excellent and server was very attentive to our needs — we had our tea cup refilled constantly and even free shaved ice from May! This family restaurant is an ideal hangout place for family and friends, I’m surprised it isn’t too crowded when we came at about 7pm — but I’m sure with the fantastic food and service, there’ll be more people patronizing this restaurant soon. We will be back, for sure.

Found this place here in Unilocal. Not disappointed at all! Service was great from the owners. They are so nice. Ok how about the food? As one of the reviewer mentioned the lemon chicken… we got that. It was delicious! My children who normally are picky eaters… loved it! Already talking about coming back already while we are still eating. The rest of our orders are very good too! Last but not the least… the green tea shaved ice… it was awesome! We will definitely come back. This place is highly recommended.

I’m writing a review while waiting for my order. The owner and his wife are the nicest people. Great customer service here! The food here is really good too. Reminds me of Chef Liu on Castro Street in Mountain View when they used to be there still and serve good quality food. Our favorites: — lemon chicken. I’m usually not a fan but this place has it down!!! The chicken is not dry on the inside. Sauce is sweet but not overly sweet. — dry sautéed string beans. Good crunch. Not from frozen. — beef with xo sauce. Awesome dish. Beef is very tender. — beef with soft mushroom. Great dish. Great flavor. — wonton soup. Clear broth. Good amount of wontons. Great soup! So glad we stumbled upon this little place. We will be coming back.

Finally found a consistent HK style restaurant that I like. I have ordered here twice and so far so good. My usual is the beef chow fun with no green onions, honey walnut shrimp and string bean garlic.

Awesome Hong Kong café food and the owners were super nice and friendly. So far, have tried black pepper beef pan fried noodles, tomato beef pan fried noodles, baked pork chop rice all very yummy. Feels like you’re in HK, but in a less rush environment. :)

OMG!!! Can I give this more than 5 stars!!! 5+ for the customer service. Husband — John, and wife — May, are GREAT. Very engaging. 5+ for the food! First of all GREAT tasting, GREAT portions, ANDGREAT prices! And open late! Just sooooo GREAT! *Salt & Pepper appetizer plate: This is to DIE for! ITIS hands down THEBEST. Had chicken wings, ribs, fish with jalapeños and onions. *Minced Beef Soup with Egg White & Cilantro: Nice and light. As always, I add white pepper to my soups and it took it over the top. *Singaporean Stir Fried Rice Noodle: It’s like curry puncit *Dried fried string beans: YUM! *Chow fun with pork ribs and black bean sauce: More please? *HK Milk Tea: Oh I REALLY like this better than the usual milk teas. Not as sweet and I think they use black tea? *Shaved Mango Ice: It’s more like shaved ice cream. OMFG! I LOOOOVE this stuff. Saw some reviews and it said it was a bit under seasoned — no it wasn’t bland. I do have to agree that a couple dishes were, but just add a bit of salt, soy sauce, pepper, or chili oil — NOBIGDEAL! I’d rather have it a bit under seasoned than something WAAAAAY over seasoned that I can’t eat it. These OVERCRITICAL, SOCALLED, OVERUSEDWORD, PRETENTIOUS, YOUNG A$$ 20 — 30 something year old«FOODIES». UGH I CAN’T STAAAANDTHEM! I’m just sooooo tired of over critical, youngin’s/hipsters who barely experienced life and they think just because they pay $$$$ for food they are«FOODIES». I’ll get off my soap box now. Food was hot and fresh! Did I mention that these were THEBEST salt and pepper stuff I’ve tasted? I was taking a late flying back to the Bay Area and was hungry. My friend picked this place and we met there. It was our first time to eat here and definitely won’t be my last… He’s Taiwanese and I TOTALLY trust his taste in Chinese food. He REALLY enjoyed this place too.

We live closeby so we gave this place a try, fast forward a year… we eat here at least 2x a month. The customer service is outstanding. Our usual fare includes: Hong Kong milk tea Beef chow fun Braised tofu Sesame chicken(kids love this) Salted fish fried rice It’s usually only the owners(cute couple) and a chef working, so try to place your order ahead of time.

Been here a couple of times and really enjoyed their hk style food. The owner is friendly and always comes by and chat. It could be hard to find since it’s a bit hidden. It’s across the street from the McDonalds. Pro tip: They have dishes off the menu. Just have to ask the server if they have any special dishes. Usually have different seasonal veggies for stir fried.

Oops I actually confused this restaurant with another with names that are very similar to one another. So i am updating my review so just ignore what I said in the previous review. I been here and couple of times with family and we always get the chicken wings and their fried rice. I love the salt and pepper chicken wings. The service is very friendly and they always look happy. This restaurant you cannot really miss because there shop has a drive through but it does not work so that’s really interesting. Their snow ice cream is really tasty too.

Support this LocaL mom & pop shop serving up amazing Hong Kong/Macao styLe café food. Wok Star Express has been on my List of bookmarked eateries to check out for quite some time and I’m happy to say I can cross it off. My fiancé and I came in for some Late Late night eats and were immediateLy greeted by an empLoyee and the owner. Our server toLd us to sit wherever we wished and came over to immediateLy take our order. He was very patient as I Looked over the menu and answered any questions I had(& beLieve me, I had a Lot of them). We ordered: Lemon Tea(iced) MongoLian Beef Beef Chow Fun SaLt And Pepper CaLamari Food came out piping hot and in a timeLy fashion. Each and every dish was deLicious and the portions were HUGE!!! Lemon iced tea was thirst Quenching. I reaLLy enjoyed the sLices of fresh Lemon which added to the zesty zing and made it extra pretty in my eyes. I am a fan and wiLL most definiteLy be back. Food portions are a Big Bang for your buck and sent my tastebuds on a ride that I didn’t want to end. Customer service was on point and genuine. The wife and husband who own the pLace aLso took time away from their duties to come by and see if everything was aLright. The subtLe things that they do made for such a wonderfuL experience. **FYI: they have party trays avaiLabLe. This just might be my go-to for any famiLy events!!**

I’m giving them a 5 star based on their customer service. I’ve been to this restaurant a few times already usually around 9:00pm. It’s one of the few Chinese restaurants in the area that stay open a little late. Most late night restaurants offer limited options due to the time of the day or are lax on service but not this restaurant. The staff always takes our drink order right away. What I appreciate most is they constantly refill your drink and check up on your during the meal to ensure you’re doing okay. The manager(I’m assuming he’s the manager) also checks in at all the tables one or twice during the meal. I’ve never had to wait long to be serviced. The manager is always in a happy smiling mood which makes us feel welcome. The portions are a good size as well. I usually order lemon chicken, beef and broccoli, and combination bbq pork fried rice. With three plates, it satisfies two adults and one child. As far as the food, I stick to the same order and I’ve always been happy with everything. The food doesn’t take too long to come out either. A small detail that I appreciated is that they offer kids a Capri-Sun as a drink as well. Since finding this place it’s pretty much our go-to old faithful Chinese spot.

Thought I try this place nearby because it looked like it had some good Cantonese dishes that I would like. I ordered to go and my dish was ready at the time that they said. When I got home my dish looked good but there either wasn’t enough flavor or sauce because the spaghetti of my baked pork chop spaghetti didn’t have much flavor. The pork chop was fairly decent though. Maybe I will give this place another try next time to support mom-and-pop shops.

I’m wondering how this place is getting so many 4 – 5 star reviews. Our experience was bad. First, our orders were served staggered. We had the soup, then came the salt & pepper pork chop. We kept waiting and asking for the salted fish fried rice so we can partner it with the pork. The rice came after 15 minutes, by that time we already finished the pork. Then the other orders came in installments. Our orders were also wrong — we ordered 2 crispy noodles, they only served us one. The food tasted okay, typical Chinese food, but nothing special.

The food was good. Tasted fresh and not too greasy. Our server was super nice dealing with me and my indecisiveness, probably more patient than I would have been. The garlic cabbage was flavorful, not overcooked and crunchy with a nice garlic taste. Singapore style noodles were tasty with shrimp. They accommodated my request not to put any pork in.

One word. LOVE. When we first walked in I wasn’t so sure if we had picked the right place as seen on the Unilocal reviews but this place is a must-visit! I’m not big on Asian food but found everything here to be delicious. The managers name was Bae & she went above and beyond for us. I ordered the sesame chicken with a side of rice, my hubby got the Shrimp wonton soup, they both were full of flavor. You could tell their sauces were homemade and not from a bottle. We were so full but ordered the HK(Hong Kong) tea with milk. I wasn’t so crazy about it but my hubby LOVED it. Bae also gave us complimentary shaved ice cream called the pink(strawberry with little mango toppers). She asked us our names and talked for a little bit. We wish we were locals so we could come back! Great little find while passing thru Silicone Valley :)
