Great customer service(Harry). Had an issue and they were quick to make it right. Will order from them again in the future.

I have very mixed feelings about this place. My dad purchased two $ 200 wine bottles to take with him to Korea. The bottles arrived before his departure but they arrived damaged(leaking, cork pushing out the opening). My dad was oh-so disappointed because he couldn’t take it with him in that condition and he is likely not going to return to the States for awhile. It’s hard to say who’s fault the damage was(shipping company or WineGlobe). Nevertheless, we got a refund, but that was two months later after calling/emailing the company at least 5 times a week. The staff was very kind, but it was very frustrating for me to hang loose for two whole months. I understand their need to check with the package insurance and so on, but I should’ve received the refund, the moment they saw the photos I sent over and saw the damage. I even returned the damaged wine to them. And he kept asking ME what happened to the package, and I’m thinking, «How the hell am I supposed to know». Bottom line is that the product was defective and I didn’t get it when I was supposed to the way it was supposed to be. I just feel that the entire process was so long and exhausting when as a customer, if I don’t receive the product the way it was guaranteed, I should be compensated, just like that. Insurance claims and so on should be dealt by them, and I shouldn’t have to be stuck in the middle dealing with the whole process back and forth. I feel bad because the staff was friendly, but I will likely never, ever order wine from that company ever.

I think a lot of these poor reviews are outdated. Tony is doing an incredible job, and his inventory is absolutely amazing for whatever your price point is. Really great deals. When I showed up to the office he was working with a customer and she left so happy, it was obvious this was not their first time working together. He ships all over, and I will refer him to my friends on the East Coast. Really nice people here. Good for deals on wine, hard to find wine, and interesting spirits. I also checked out the gift baskets. Two thumbs up for a family run business and not some crappy chain.

I wish I could give this no stars. This was the worst experience I’ve had with online shopping in my life. These people are dishonest and irresponsible. I had ordered an engraved bottle of liquor for my father for Christmas which they promised would be delivered on time, and I found out when I got to my parents’ house on Christmas Eve that they had not even begun the process of making/sending it. They were not even going to tell me until I had to call them proactively to find out.

NEVERUSETHESECLOWNS… I think this place is operated by the ‘Career Builder’ chimps. Where do I start with these guys? A few months ago I ordered a nice bottle of scotch for a business client that was to be engraved with a personal message to the client(as opposed to a generic message?). They emailed me to confirm the correct message, all good so far, right? So, after some kind of delay which Wineglobe couldn’t explain, the precious bottle arrived directly to the recipient. This was almost a week late. But this is where the fun really began. They totally screwed up the message. It was COMPLETELY wrong. I don’t think it said«HAPPYBARMITZVAH, DANIEL» but it was pretty far off. Talk about embarrassing… I contact Wineglobe as soon as I find this out-their ‘solution’ ranged from offensive to ridiculous. First, they wanted me to return the bottle. I explained that was impossible since it was a thousand miles away and ITWAS A GIFT. Then they said they wouldn’t do anything. Then they offered me A 5% DISCOUNTONMYNEXTORDER!!! At this time I contacted my credit card company and started a dispute with them. We will see how this turns out, but the damage is done, what was supposed to be a nice gift turned into a complete crap deal.

This review is for the mail order side. I placed my order back in early December. I ordered 3 bottles in total. 2 bottles of one brand and another bottle of a brand of absinthe. Its obvious that wineglobe has no inventory control on their website. It took them over a week and several emails from me to get them to admit they didn’t have the product in stock and they didn’t know when they get back in. Fair enough a hot product is not in stock and is hard to get. The problem here is that they did not even make the effort to contact me I had to continue to email them. So after several emails they offer to substitute another brand but at a higher price(which I found on another site for much cheaper that they were offering, but I could not find the other 2 items any where else so I was stuck with wineglobe for that items. So after more than a month they finally sent out my order which you can guess was not correct. I was missing one bottle. So I call them up and they act like they don’t care. I give them all the info for the order and they say they will call me back. After an hour goes by I sent them an email, they send back a reply stating I have not paid for my order yet. This is when I start getting pissed. I pull up my bank statements and send them the confirmation number. So finally after more than a month a finally get my entire order. Not only Does wineglobe have horrible customer service there prices are so out of wack with other sellers I will never return to their website!

Value for quality, these guys are some of the best wine merchants I’ve found in the Bay Area. They stock rare and hard-to-find vintages, as well as a great selection of high-quality wines at every price range. I initially found them because of a mistake on my part… I accidentally opened a 2005 Enzo Reserve that had been set aside as a gift by my wife. So I went looking for a replacement. Nobody had any of this limited-run wine anymore. I asked them, since they listed the bottle, but they told me it was out and offered to trade it up to a slightly higher caliber wine and give me the same price. Since then I’ve ordered a couple of times, always great wines, even though I was shooting for $ 15−25/bottle for casual use, not always the high-end stuff. Today I was in the area so I dropped by their warehouse, unannounced. The manager wasn’t in but they called him and he rushed right over, despite the fact that it isn’t a retail store, just a warehouse. He got everything I wanted very quickly and threw in a few decent bottles for free too. So I continue to be impressed by the quality and price of their wines, as well as their prompt service. Clearly, most people will be ordering online, which is how they are set up to take orders, but I appreciate that they were accommodating and even graceful when I dropped by the warehouse.

So I have been going to their wine tasting and the last one was actual at their location. It took forever to find the place and I was disappointed on how the set up was. The wines were excellent of course but when we wanted to buy a couple of bottles they were all out. How could you be out when it’s in your warehouse? Also there were not seat there!!!

Wineglobe is still alive, but just barely. The San Mateo location closed down a couple months ago after a fire. The new location is in an industrial wasteland(left at the underpass, over the deserted train tracks, across from the power station) in Redwood City. The location is around the back of the building and there is no retail area, just warehouse and front desk. The owner was nice enough to let me browse in the back for a bottle since I had made the trip, but I assume they are doing most business virtually these days or offsite. Stocks of liquor are way down(the warehouse is much smaller than the old retail place) and it seems like they are concentrating on bulk wine sales. Don’t think I’ll be back … it’s K&L for me from now on.
