UPDATE: This place is now called«Kabab House» and is under new management. Still serves Halal Meat and pretty good food. 3÷29÷2010 — Halal meat is served here per signs on the restaurant. I have been going here for a few years now. The place has gone through several owners over the years. The chicken tikka masala is good. The naans are good(they put butter on them, which is nice) and the chicken biriyani is alright(a little plain than most other desi places). Plenty of seating inside. Fast service. They take credit or cash.

Food used to be slightly better when they started but they slowly lost interest like the Shahnawaz(the old restaurant). The guy at the counter is usually cheerful even though you find no people in the restaurant during busy hours. Since not a lot of ppl visit, the food wasn’t fresh. In any case, I am not going back. P.S: Tried the Haleem too and I cant definitely say, I’ve tasted better… a lot better!

Not bad for a quick fix. I believe the price is $ 8.99. Always a large selection and enough seating during prime lunchtime. The restaurant itself does not look appealing whatsoever, the tables and chairs are dated, the cups are old, lighting is terribly depressing. This all sounds like a great recipe for potential counteracting taste quality, but the taste barely cuts it too. only a few items really worth eating again. has all the essntials, minus butter chicken and gulab jamun, which are two of my favorites. maybe it was just a bad day, but what i gathered from the waiters broken english is that they never include those for the buffet. a damn shame. would come back if the co workers want to, but there’s just too man other Indian places around to try/retry

Tandoori N Curry is like any other Indian restaurants in Milpitas. They do provide a buffet, but its not really worth the try. Pros Service: The server and manager was nice to us to tell us that we didn’t have to eat the buffet if we didn’t like it and let us eat the regular menu instead. Food: The food here was okay and not as great as other Indian restaurants, but their naan is particular was super delicious. Cons Buffet: The buffet didn’t have a huge variety of food. Location: This place is tucked in the back of a commercial area where its hard to find. Overall the service is great and food is okay nothing special. It might be hard to locate and the buffet doesn’t have a huge variety.

Stopped in again today and was suprised with new foods: an orange carrot halwa dessert and beef stewed and aloo potatoes. I have tried these before at different indian restaurants, but somehow this place makes it better and more flavorful. The rice in the biryani’s was a bit over cooked and limp. The tandoori chicken was marvelous: slightly charred, a good sign and the meat was very tender, moist and meaty. The attendant said they get their meats from Zabiha’s and he would close his restaurant if he cannot get their fine quality meats. I would agree. Man, the meats are very good here. The currys are flavorful and seem to have a little extra spice and the home made touch. The mixture of cauliflower, potatoes, lima beans, tomatoes and carrots was a bit over cooked. I am being picky for an AYCE place. Even left my cell phone here and came back a few hours later and they stored it for me =) thanks!

Love this place! We order take out almost every Sunday night from here! Food is cheap, delicious and they make it extra spicy for us, just the way we like it! Best items we’ve had are… chicken tikka masala, aloo keema, lamb curry, lamb chops & of course garlic naan :) yummy!

Mmmmmm, butter chicken :) hahaha Anyone who knows me, knows that I can NOT handle spicy food. I’m trying to rectify the situation, but its a struggle for me, fosho. But I’ve really wanted to get some Indian food recently, and after checking my friend(Steph C.)‘s review, I decided to try Tandoori N Curry. I went here on a Tuesday night to get an order of butter chicken and garlic naan to go. My friend I were greeted very promptly as we walked in and I let him know that we wanted to order to-go. He took our order and let us know that it would be 10 – 15 minutes. When I took my first bite of the butter chicken(well, I took a piece of naan and dipped it into the sauce) I felt like I was in heaven :) It was just the right amount of spicy with a wonderful flavor. It was a pretty large portion and I couldn’t finish everything, but it was still yummy the next day.

This is for sure one of the most underrated restaurants in the area. I really don’t understand how I’ve been living in the same house, on the same block for 10+ yrs and not have eaten in this restaurant til recently. I should be punished. I’m not an expert on Indian food but I do know what ‘f*cking amazing’ tastes like when it hits my tongue. Lately, I’ve been coming here for their naan! I’ve ordered their plain naan(has a light taste of butter on it), aloo paratha(stuffed w/some spicy potato), and garlic naan. Not only are they totally affordable($ 1-$ 2) but they’re also made as big as dinner plates and are very filling! I try to bring some with me before I get home from work but often times I end up buying an entire meal. The most expensive thing on the menu will probably cost $ 8-$ 9, but with the servings you get, you’d think that they would be charging more. However, since they have excellent customer service inside the restaurant, I usually give more than the standard 15% tip to whoever is waiting on me. I recommend trying: — Baingan bharta — chicken masala — nihari — aloo keema These are the items I usually get. I try to change it up once in a while when I feel brave enough to do so. or you can just get everything I put down on this review and still pay less than $ 35! I hope they don’t get tired of seeing me coz this spot offers free wi-fi too, so I’ll be studying here while munching on food during finals week. P. S. their lunch buffet is worth it also if you have a big appetite(~$ 10!), tho I don’t recommend coming here if you have work to go back to coz I’m pretty sure you’ll be hit with food coma.

Javed’s awesome! Equipped with a friendly smile and great customer service skills, he really attracts more customers to this restaurant. As for the dishes, they’re definitely not something I’d eat on an everyday basis. Buttered chicken, rice, and oily naan are super indulgent, but oh sooooo worth it. My wallet does feel a bit discouraged if I end up getting all 3, though.

I’ve never gotten the opportunity to try a lot of indian foods because most of the people i break bread with don’t really enjoy it. Well they’re missing out because BUTTERCHICKENBUTTERCHICKEN!!! Cubes of chicken in an ocean of buttery spices. Yes, it’s probably unhealthy as the name says it all, but HOLYMOLY it’s crave-worthy. Use the Naan bread as your utensil and don’t forget to breathe in between bites. I’ve tried this at another Indian Restaurant, and i’ll admit this place can improve the chicken — it’s a little dry. I’m mainly there for the sauce and the bread. It’s a good price and near my house so i’m happy. I’ve also tried the tikka masala here which was very similar to the butter chicken with an added spice to it. I didn’t enjoy it too much because it was a little too chunky. I also kept biting into whole black peppers that made me cringe here and there. Service here is a little slow as it seems like there’s always one person working the floor and one chef in the back — so if you’re starving prepare yourself. Added bonus: Free wifi? It’s advertised but i wasn’t able to get connection. Perhaps I had to ask for the login info? Anyway i guess they provide it to compensate for the longer than average wait time. =)

Great Indian food, especially for chilly winter weather! I got the Paneer Tikka Masala and it was very good. Everyone else is right — it is spicier than most other Indian places. I love the spice, but if it’s not your thing you have been warned. This is a very casual place, no fancy décor — just really good food. Our waiter was great, and I loved that they have free hot chai. Glad I found a good Indian place next to my house, I will definitely be back.

Chicken Kharahi is good but it was slightly dry today. I’ve been back multiple times and the food has always been top notch. Today was slightly ehhh though. My bfs dish was overly spicy and since he orders it all the time we noticed the difference immediately. The worker was trying to explain that it has always been that spicy and started joking around with us but no. it hasn’t. I’m not saying that since I recognized the worker he should recognize me. but I’m pretty sure that there aren’t a lot of Asians who regularly eat here and order the same exact dishes every time BUT who knows. So anyways, I felt a little offended when he was trying to convince us that the dish has been the same the even though we have ordered it aleast 5+ times in the past 6 months and it was obviously different today. anyways, the food is still great here and in my opinion is the best in the area. I just hope that the food stays the same…

4.5 Stars. I don’t understand why this place doesn’t get more business. It is really good! Maybe its because of the location which is located near the rear of the Fitness and the Wells Fargo. We decided to dine in for lunch and from the time we entered the restaurant and until we we left, we were the only people at the restaurant. Now to the food — we ordered the Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikki Masala, and three orders of Naan. The Korma and Masala were filled with spices and the sauce was perfect when dipped with the Naan. I preferred the Masala and basically ate the whole thing myself and my friend loved the Korma. You get a lot for your money here also. The prices was very reasonable. Lunch for two with the aforementioned dishes came out to a total of $ 19.XX. Dine here, you won’t be disappointed.

Tandoori N Curry is an Indian restaurant hidden near the wells Fargo bank and fitness place in Milpitas. I came here for the lunch buffet expecting to find a place that would become my favorite Indian restaurant in Milpitas. Unfortunately, my experience started on a bad note since the drinking cups brought to our table was still dirty. There were food scraps still stuck on the cup! Now onto the food. My favorite dishes here were the samosas, yellow masala, and chicken curry. I consider these three dishes to be the staple dishes of an Indian restaurant and at Tandoori N Curry they are mediocre at best. The taste is unique in its own way, but it is not the best I’ve ever had especially when comparing them with the other restaurants in the bay. Another issue here is the price. for a $ 10 dollar Indian buffet I was expecting a lot more. I would not recommend this place to a friend because there are plenty of other places that will give you a greater bang for your buck.

The food here during lunch draws co-workers here often, so when i got myself into eating out with some of them, it was a pleasant surprise that this little establishment was just hiding in the back waiting to be discovered by me. I think certain days they tend to be more crowded than others, but it was a decent amount of people when I last went. Had the buffet and grabbed whatever looked delicious and placed it on my plate. I’d say my favorite was the goat karahi. That with the fresh naan they provide you was a really good. Also on some days, they have samosas in the buffet which i don’t tend to see often when eating at other similar places. That was a plus for me.

I’m upgrading this place to a five because out of all the indian places ive gone to its probably one of the cheapest places to eat, pretty hole in the wall. Just dont look into the kitchen area hahaha. Naan still is the best here! Crispy flat and not all dougy like some places. Flavors of the curries are awesome too. The owner is really nice because he told me if I didnt like the curry I could change it out, cause its most important that his customers love the food! that was pretty awesome. I need to come here for the buffet just to try out the other curries!

Had dinner here last night and here’s what went down. Walked in the restaurant, found a table and were sitting for 5-minutes. No one came up to give us menus or anything so we figured maybe it was one of those self-service Indian resto dealios. Fine, we get up, get a menu, then order up at the counter and here’s what we had: Butter Chicken — The sauce was very rich with flavor. It was quite delish but was lacking in the chicken department. It was served in a shallow soup bowl but was overflowing with sauce to make it look like it was a big portion. Aloo Kema — It’s a ground beef dish, which was way spicy, but good. It was easy to tell it was spicy because of the chili oil it was floating in. I liked this dish but, maybe a skosh lower on the spice gauge. Garlic Naan — Came out piping hot and was pretty good, maybe one of the best Naan I ever had. Rice — Well you can’t ever fail with rice. The food was great. Add two sodas the bill came out to $ 25.00, not too bad. However, my one complaint of this resto is the service. In addition to not being acknowledged upon entering the resto… –It took over 20-minutes for the food to come out, not to mention the rice came out a good 5-minutes after everything else has been sitting. –I noticed that the staff was catering more to their Indian patrons than to us. How do I know this? Every party that walked in, sat themselves and within a minute, were brought menus and their orders were taken tableside. The whole time I sat in the resto, I felt very alienated. No bueno. :( –The resto just did not look clean or feel clean, which kind of makes me scared to see what the kitchen looks like but, ignorance is bliss. Sorry TNC, your food is delicious but, I can’t in good faith patronize your resto again. It’s cool, Naan N’ Masala on Dempsey Rd. is cheaper, tastes just as good and are way friendly… to everyone.

My Ratings: Quantity — 4 Stars Quality — 4 Stars Price — 4 Stars Location — 3 Stars Service — 3 Stars Speed — 3 Stars My Opinion/Story: Since I wasn’t done with my craving for Indian food, I took another friend to try this place with me. The price is pretty cheap, the dishes were the right size for the two us, the service is ok. We ordered chicken tikka masala, basmati rice, two naan, tandoori chicken legs, and two sodas. Total came up to $ 22 with tip. Not bad since we were so full and could barely finish our food. The chicken tikka masala was really good and buttery. A little on the spicy side but I was able to handle it. The tandoori chicken was really good and the size/portion was really big. The basmati rice was delicious but the naan was a little on the dry side. It didn’t have the buttery taste that I always craved. It was fine but I guess I can’t be satisfied with all their dishes. I also like their chai tea. Overall: I’ll definitely come back again if I’m in the neighborhood.

Came here on a Saturday night and it was COMPLETELY empty. Its a 10 minute drive from my house and my roommate was starving, so we decided to try it out. Since we became pescetarians about a month ago, we ordered the fish curry, eggplant, and spicy potato naan. The eggplant came as a paste. It looked like a curry paste and at first we werent sure if we were eating eggplant… which was surprising, but it tasted okay, even though the spices completely covered the taste of the eggplant. The fish curry was extremely oily and very fishy, not too great. The best part was the potato naan, but when can you go wrong with spicy potatoes and bread? Mango lassi was pretty good, tasted like asian mango pudding in a drink. Service was bad and the place smelled funky. And… I’f youre not indian, they’ll stare you down as if you dont belong =\

Good local place in Milpitas to visit & try Indian/Pakistani food & the great flavors. Not sure why there is another posting in Unilocal(will repost this review there as well) Pros — Tasty flavorful dishes. I tried the Lamb Chops, Chicken Seekh Kabab, Beef Seehk Kabab, Hyderabadi Dum Biryani(Chicken), Nan. Loved the Lamb chops — large pieces(see photo), heavy spices. Kababs were fresh & hot — great flavors. Chicken Biryani was just OK(not to fresh rice). Nan was fresh & hot. I wanted to try the Brain Masala(lamb brain), but they were out — too bad for me! — Mall parking — Plenty of seating inside. Cons — Service was so/so. Door was open, so a few flies came to visit. — Place was a bit empty for such tasty good food — maybe it was Monday? — Interior atmosphere was missing something — seemed unkempt. Return Visit — Yes, for kababs & lamb chops. Hopefully they have the brain masala next time!
