Probably the #1 best Indian food I have ever had… EVER! It’s a small place in Milpitas. Probably the whole place only seats like 20 people. It’s legit because I am gonna assume the people dining here were also Indian. Wasn’t very busy at the time but our food took a while to come out. Good and bad thing but PRO is that it’s made fresh to order. I ordered the goat and butter chicken. It also came with some lentil soup, a white rice dessert, basmati rice, and Roti. So good… TOOGOOD! Especially when you dip the Roti in the sauce. Greasy just like it should be and the spices were not over powering or super spicy either, very RICH. Definitely get the butter chicken! Serving size was very generous. I couldn’t finish it. Enough for leftovers for the next day.

Bunch of students managing the evenings just reheating frozen stuff and serving. Horrible service. All veggie curries we choose were horrible. Just wasted $ 21 for two Thalis today.

One of my favorite places to get Indian food in Milpitas! Be warned, when they say spicy here, they mean spicy! I found the lamb curry super spicy, but still very tasty. I’m going to be honest, I’m no expert at Indian food, but of the many Indian joints in this tiny town, Rasoi is my go-to.

Great food, tastes fresh and I like the fact that it is not greasy(no unnecessary oil). Surprised that the reviews are not great!

Hidden gem! I was craving some delicious Indian food and when I stumbled across this restaurant I was delighted beyond words. It was so authentic from the flavor profile to the ambience. Service was warm and polite and they really make you feel like you’re in their home. I will definitely be coming back and referring to all of my friends

I keep coming here for Indian food in Milpitas. I always get the thali here and usually a rose lassi. The thali includes rice and roti, soup, and a dessert, which changes each day. They have many options for both vegetarians and meat eaters, and the food is always delicious. The staff are also really friendly and helpful.

When had a thali here earlier and we really liked it and panneer butter masala was good. When we needed food for our party, I thought this would be a good place to get the food. We ordered two curries(panneer butter masala and mix veg korma) for our party from Rasoi. To say the least, food was horrible and food was supposed to sufficient for 20 people. At the end of the party, almost all the food was left and hardly anyone ate. Panneer butter masala is full of gravy with little panneer and the gravy tasted like a tomato purée. I think to save costs they took the route of using cheap ingredients. Mix veg korma has exactly same gravy as panner butter masala. And there were not much vegetables and some of those are not well cooked and we did not like it at all. Overall, I will never order food from here again. I felt ashamed that I provided bad food for the guests. I should have done due diligence.

Was here for a quick dinner with a friend. Ordered two chicken dish — tikka masala and butter chicken. The curries were a good mix of spices and had right colors too. However — not ‘hot’ enough for us. Décor wise the place wants to portray a regular dhaba atmosphere — and has done so well.

Tasty Lassi! Lassi is very tasty and thick. Mataka Chicken biryani wasn’t impressive, just spicy rice with chicken pieces though Raita was creamy and nice. Ambiance is very unique and nice. In all can try once.

Pao Bhaji. Out of the world. I think the best pao bhaji award in the bay area goes to Rasoi. It was as good as it gets in India and was prepared with so much love. Kudos to the pretty ladies working the kitchen :)

I ordered the Thali which included lamb curry, butter chicken, basmati rice, 2 rotis, and a dessert. I really enjoyed the food and the spice level was just right for me which I ordered mild. The sweet rose Lassi was perfect to cool down the spices from the curry. The staff was really friendly and nice even if I walked in 20 minutes before lunch was about to end. I would definitely go back again.

Rasoi is a family owned establishment that serves decent Indian food. The place has about 8 tables and a small window where you can tell your order(for to-go orders). However if you would dine here, there’s also a guy who comes to the table to take orders so no need to stand in the line. They offer you a sheet of paper where the menu is printed on one side. It has a warm cozy feel on a chilly night and a warm hot meal is just great. Staff is really nice and we did feel well cared for. We ordered the combo meal which is called a Thali, its two choices of their entrees(vegetarian and non-veg) served with rice, 2 flat breads, soup and sweet rice and almond dessert. My kiddo ordered the buttered chicken and fish while I ordered the fry fish and lamb curry. We loved the buttered chicken, I know it says there that there shouldn’t be any sharing but we did. We liked the food so much we ordered additional rice. We couldn’t finish the rice so we took it home. The lamb was on the spicy side however I still liked it. there were two pieces of the lamb with bone and the downside is it doesnt have alot of meat on it. The fish was nice, two pieces that seemed to be rubbed with spices. It needed a bit of salt which is available on the table. The staff and the owner checked on us if we needed anything else. They provided us with a small pitcher of water and also honored the 5% discount for checking Unilocal!(woot woot!) They were really nice and attended to our needs. FYI, the owner told me that they will be returning the valued guest club card next year(2016) where you get a free meal after your 7th meal order… and that my friend is most highly acceptable!

Can’t think of a negative experience. Service was good, price was very reasonable. Vada Pav was yummy, In fact, I got one order to go. The place may look relatively low profile from outside, but welcoming/dabha style from inside. Definitely my new fav. For evening snacks. Perfect for eating hot vada Pav n chai on rainy or cold day.

Best Indian food in Milpitas. Delicious chicken tikka masala and the paratha bread is the die for! Try paratha as an alternative to roti. Their mango lassi is also very good. DONOT listen to the people below saying its the worst. They make your food fresh, on the spot, and will customize to your liking. They are good people too. The service is amazing – very nice, courteous and welcoming. I have it at least once every 2 weeks, so they pretty much know my order by now lol! I love to support small, family-owned businesses! Check them out!

I don’t know why it took me so long to come to this place(well, actually, it was probably the Unilocal reviews). My friend and I each ordered the $ 10 thali(2 curries, roti, dal, small dessert, and a small chai. The woman helping us was extremely patient in explaining the different options and offering suggestions. We didn’t feel rushed even though we came when they were almost closing for dinner. The food came promptly, had good flavor, and oh yeah was only $ 10!!! I really liked the chocolate dessert and the chai was one of the best I’ve had(unsweetened and very flavorful). When I come back I’m trying the pav bhajiv. Can’t wait!

Dat fish curry tho. Two women from Mumbai and Fiji, respectively, run this small restaurant and their customer service is top-notch. The lady manning the counter is very patient with explanations and suggestions, polite, friendly, and attentive. What’s not to love? Especially when I’m sure they have to deal with a lot of questions. What I also love about this place? The food is made fresh to order, and you can watch them cooking it through the window looking into the kitchen. The best way to order is the Thali option, which has a choice of 2 veggie, 2 non-veggie, or a combo of 1 veggie and 1 non-veggie curries and sabji’s. Alongside this, you get roti, dal(lentil soup), rice, and a dessert side. As previously stated, the fish curry is to die for. The Hawaiian Basa is so tender and moist and the tomato-based curry is at the right level of spicy(tongue numbing). I canNOT get enough! I usually do a double order ;) If available, I also order the pan-fried fish, which is marinated in the same seasonings as the fish curry. Having sneaked a peek into the kitchen, I know that after frying, the fish is transplanted onto paper towels to soak up any leftover oil. I’ve tried several of their other offerings, which were all decent. The butter chicken is tender, and sweet in my opinion, and perfect for those who prefer a mild non-spicy option; chicken tikka masala comes spicy and is a close 3rd favorite for me; kofta and lamb curries are similarly spicy to the fish curry and can be adjusted during ordering; and goat curry, which I had never tried before, I wouldn’t recommend for anyone who doesn’t like mutton. This is as close as I have gotten to home cooked Indian food at a restaurant. I used to work near quite a number of Indian restaurants and found that, while good when eating, they weren’t memorable afterwards. Even though I no longer work in this area, I make my way to eat here whenever I can because Rasoi is just that good!
