This has become our go-to local Mexican restaurant since moving to the area! Ditto to all the positive comments about the staff. I have never felt snubbed or rushed when I’ve eaten here, and we’ve come at times where you’d expect higher traffic and higher stress for the staff. The food is delicious. The chicken tortilla soup is one of my favorites, and my husband and I always split a Cadillac margarita. if out-of-town guests visit and crave Mexican food, this is where we take them!

Terrible food. Service was good. Drinks are good. If you know good Mexican, this is NOT the place.

I really shouldn’t love this place, but for some reason I do. Maybe it’s just because I grew up eating at Mexican restaurants like this, where everything is covered in that red sauce and the obligatory melted cheese rides on top. But for whatever reason, I just love coming here. The servers are super friendly: Don’t like your order? No problem. Need to split your check 5 ways? No problem. They do it all with a smile and are very personable. On to the food… pretty standard restaurant Mexican food. Nothing really stands out as being super authentic or homemade. But, the flavors are spot on. The beans and rice are well seasoned and it has a comfort food appeal. Haven’t tried the soups, but they do have a heavy hand with the salad dressing. Order it on the side if you don’t like lots of dressing. On to the drinks… the margaritas on the rocks are leaded! Super flavorful and generous sizes. My new favorite is the Chavela. It’s like a beer margarita and comes in a punch bowl, basically. Super delicious and a great addition to the meal. Seems like Unilocalers are mixed on this place, but if you’re craving quality service and comfort food you’d do well to give this place a try.

I love this place for a weekday lunch. They have great lunch specials at a very reasonable price and service is very good. Most restaurants in Milpitas get very busy during lunch time and if you looking for a quiet place to have a good conversation with friends this place will not disappoint you. The menu list is quiet extensive. I plan to go back to try other dishes.

Came here two nights ago since my friend insisted on this place! She and her family come quite often and I decided to try it out myself. I live fairly close to here but have never tried it as its not located in an area you’d easily see from driving by. It’s tucked away in a parking lot. Anyways, as soon as we got in we were seated. Right away we were served iced waters and some chips with salsa! The chips weren’t greasy but had a great crunch. The salsa was good but I wished it was a little spicer. ;) I ordered the enchiladas suizas which came with rice and beans. It also came with a side salad and I tried it with their house dressing. Let me just tell you… Their house dressing is amazing! It’s almost like a peppery ranch type of dressing with a thin consistency. I never finish my salad but I sure did this time. Haha. It’s very authentic Mexican food and I appreciated that! I also tried their melon margarita which was quite delicious and served in really pretty margarita glasses. The service was great. I didn’t get our servers name but he was very attentive. They were pretty busy while we were there which is a good sign right? I’m glad I finally tried this place out. It’s a hidden gem!

I really wanted to love this place after reading the reviews, but I wouldn’t go back. I’ll start with the positive – I liked the place and I liked the people. I had very good service to start with, and the service was always very pleasant. But when the place got to be about ½ full, the level of service really went down. I saw people waiting to be greeted, getting up to help themselves to menus etc… I noticed that the wait staff does everything there – they greet, seat, get water, bus tables – they need more help! The food was just not good. The chips were definitely not made fresh. There were warmed there, and had a slightly sweet weird taste. Same with the salsa. Seemed authentic, but I don’t believe it was fresh made. The tortilla soup was hearty, but there was nothing special about that broth. I had the chicken mole and the quality of the chicken was good, the mole absolutely nothing special, lacked sophistication and sophistication with a dish that requires 15 – 27 ingredients is what mole should be all about. The biggest disappointed that eh Chile Rellenos – what chile? It was so smothered in cheese that I went looking for the chile. When I found it it looked like all the meat from the chile was scrapped out, and there was really only a skin there. You certainly could not taste the chile. The breading was completely indistinguishable from what appeared to be some kind of gravy. Absolutely no crispness. Imagine queso fresco with a really bland gravy, and there you have their version of chile rellenos.

I ordered the enchilada plate but I couldn’t tell any difference from the enchilada I had here or anywhere else. The serving was very large though. My palate for Mexican food is not that good. But definitely my favorite part about this place was the tortilla soup!!! It was so delicious with some sour cream and also creamy avocado … Ahhh. I would want to return just for the soup! Service was also excellent!

If I could give a 0 star I would. We went there and I was expecting tasty nachos. Not this nasty!!! Not even edible!!! We got another order of nachos and they looked worse I didn’t want to make anyone puke anymore. I looked this place up and saw there was a 4.5 star rating on Google. Well someone needs to fix that!!! It was disgusting.

I have been coming to this restaurant for the last 20 years and it has never failed to impress me. The food… is to die for! They make excellent tamales, enchiladas, chalupas, tortilla soup, burritos, tacos… I have tried almost everything on the menu and so far, I have not had anything that was«blah». Special shoutout to the house salad dressing! Their prices are exquisite. 13 bucks for a full meal, soup or salad, AND unlimited chips and salsa(which is also, by the way, amazing). I always leave with one or two buttons on my pants popped… Their margaritas are incredible! Gustavo can make you one that will taste like Mr. Margarita himself made it! I like the strawberry one, but their original blend is also an excellent choice. I could probably talk all day about this place.

I came here on a weekday night and was greeted by an older man at the door. But geez, talk about service, this place is all about that! The waiter came by very promptly and assisted us ordering our food off the menu. The food came in huge portions and I was very satisfied with my burrito. I’m a meat person and I really appreciate how they are able to put more of that than the other stuff lol. I would definitely come by here again!

I love this place. The food is awesome and the portions are generous. The service is fast and pleasant. The décor is fun and clean and the bathrooms are clean. I would recommend a specific dishes like the burritos or enchiladas, but everything is delicious. I moved to another state recently unfortunately, but if I am ever in California, this would be on my list of Mexican food restaurants to eat at. There is another restaurant down the way called La Milpa that is really good too. Those are the two best I’ve been to in the whole Bay Area.

My friend rarely craves Mexican food but today she was and I whipped out my phone and went on Unilocal real quick! I love Mexican food and wanted to try a new place and found this. And boy am I glad I did ! We were seated in a timely manner it really wasn’t busy just two other tables. On a Monday around 2:30 ish. Food came to us in a timely manner as well. Great customer service. The waiters are funny and will joke around with you huge plus point for that. It’s a really decent/nice sit down place Great prices All three of us had gotten the the weekly special. Basically everyday of the week is a different special. Monday’s were enchiladas ! And it comes with a free soda drink too! Only 9 bucks for the entire meal. I will definitely be returning to try their other dishes.

I am so very pleasantly pleased with our dining experience. As I sit here looking at our empty dinner plates my husband reminded me that I’m a Mole snob. And I admit I am. Very few can deliver. My chicken breast mole plate was light, not spicy but perfectly blended chocolate and spice with 2 small tender breasts with rice generously seasoned with cumin a delicious south South American spice. The refried beans aren’t over cooked and lightly flavored– enough to actually NOT manipulate the bean flavor away. Yum and I’m sold. The carne asada steak taco was mildly seasoned so you actually taste the flavor of the meat! The chips were crunchy but not the most amazing however the salsa was spicy full of flavor and drew me to the average chips to continue munching. Their ranch dressing is also handmade. Rare and maybe even a buttermilk recipe. The tortilla soup was an average bowl BUT they included a small plate of avocado, lime, and sour cream to add in which enhances the flavor experience. Now we ordered the special margaritas-which were honestly filled with alcohol. Nothing about them were watered down. Wow! One was enough In the large glass.

Presentation wise, the food looked okay. The colors weren’t vibrant like what I saw in the Unilocal photos. But this is one of those cases where the food tasted better than it looked. For instance, the smothered burrito was barely smothered but what it was smothered with was so flavorful that it was enough. The pork and beef were in big chunks but still tender. The tortillas tasted freshly made. The chicken in the enchiladas was shredded but still tender and juicy. The salsa was only mildly chunky and a bit smoky but not unbearably spicy so you could dump it all over your entrée. When deciding between salad or soup, get the chicken tortilla soup. It’s full of chicken and tortilla strips, and comes with a separate little plate of limes, avocados, and sour cream. This filled me up quite a bit and I could only eat about half my entrée. On the outside, this looks like a casual place that people go for lunch only. You’ll be pleasantly be surprised to see that the Aztec art is better than the Aztec-inspired Fry’s in San Jose.

This place was okay, service was pretty good and free chips which is a plus! the salsa was a bit on the spicy side though I got the super burrito, beans, cheese, guac, pico de gallo, rice, and choice of meat, not bad at all and the price is fair

The worst chicken fajitas I’ve ever had. The chicken tasted kind of like teriyaki chicken with soggy onions and overcooked peppers. It was not tasty at all. The salsa was great, I will say, it earned the one star. The server and waitresses were all very nice too. But the food, I can’t give it more than one star.

Tried the crab enchiladas and the quesadilla appetizer The quesadilla was very cheesy which I liked. It comes topped with guac and sourcream. The crab enchiladas was pretty solid but not great. It comes with a decent amount of crab but the taste to me was just kinda missing something. Overall, its a decent Mexican joint but I felt it could probably be better.

Casa Azteca is what happens when El Torito and your favorite taco truck have a baby. The place has the«build your own combination» aspect of a Mexican chain restaurant along with the authentic street tacos of your favorite street side vendor. The décor is cute and faux authentic, the wait staff is super friendly and the salsa is perfectly fiery. In short, you want to like this place. You really really want to like this place. Sadly the food is just not that good. The meat is under seasoned and dry and everything is covered under mountains of sour cream and guacamole. We ordered the beef chimichanga, the chicken enchilada and the combination fajitas and all items were meh. Others on our table had the chile rellenos, tacos, and tamales and we eagerly helped ourselves to tastes hoping to find the food gem. Alas no dice! We also ordered dessert and got to try the flan, the cheesecake, and the ice cream. Everything tasted slightly stale, as if it came from a box and sat in the fridge for a few days. It’s really a shame because this family friendly restaurant has so much potential for a casual date night or family dinner, but until the food becomes tastier, you’ll find me crouched by my favorite taco truck!
