SLOW service. Took 30 mins to get even cups of water, 60 minutes before the first dish is served. The fried rice is OK but the Malaysian Dry Curry Beef tasted weird. Rather than dry curry, it was cooked more like yellow curry with too much starch and too little water. The beef tasted completely bland. The Basil Green Beans were kind of semi raw, as if the chef just swirled them around in the wok just a few times. They were definitely too under staffed and too busy and tried to rush everything in the kitchen — even at the end we still waited an hour plus for our food. Our neighboring table had the same fate. The menu is also over priced — $ 46 before tax for 2 simple dishes, one fried rice and one drink. Oh, the next day, I got stomach flu. I can’t prove where it came from. But there is no way I am coming back to this restaurant ever again.

I have been to this restaurant twice and I really wanted to give them a good chance but I have been disappointed twice. First time I went with 4 people and had a full dinner. The food is not authentic Malaysian food at all. Some of the flavors were not a match at all. The service was not good. There was mix up on our food and things came at all different times. The second time I came we showed up around 130pm. The waiter sat us down, rushed us to order because the«kitchen was closing» then after 5 mins after the food came they asked us if we wanted a box and the check. Wth! Don’t let us in if you don’t want to let us eat! Never again! This place sucks. Food and service!

I previously had a 5 star review for this establishment but they have since gone downhill slighty, really losing the authentic Malaysian flavours. Don’t get me wrong they definitely care, but somethings are not quite right as far as taste goes. I know from spending 18 years in Malaysia.

Malaysian food is all about the spicing and they just didn’t get it quite right here. Our waiter was friendly and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. It’s not that it’s a bad restaurant it’s just it’s not good enough for me to spend money to go eat out on.

I’ve tried a few items here to know what’s happening. The best thing you can get here is char kuay teow and mee goreng. Very greasy but so damn good. I wouldn’t say the real thing could get that greasy but it’s got a right amount of char and that’s the way it should be! This place is super vegetarian friendly. It’s like they have a lot of vegetarian customers and modifying dishes to be vegetarian is something they completely expect to do and still taste bomb.

we were disappointed with the service and food quality(after price increase). Waitress could not communicate with the chefs so she made me spoke with the chef in the kitchen. Food were overly salty. Will not go back. Papaya Salad — very salty Red /Green curry — ok Sizzling tofu — salty and burnt Basil fired rice — one of the best dish. Roti –good Mee Goreng — salty Malaysian iced tea — good

Warning: Prices are up again! A plate of noodle rice is now 12+$. I lived in Singapore for a few months and was craving some Nasi Lemak so I decided to come here to try it out. I also ordered the Chow Kwai Tweo. Both were very small portion for the increase price and the Nasi Lemak’s rice didnt have any flavor. I tasted a little coconut and that’s about it. The Chow Kwai Tweo was pretty good but portions were extremely small. Would not come back again. DONOTTRY the Roti it’s terrible.

Great service and food even if they don’t get Hainanese chicken right. Plus, free wifi!

We were seated immediately on Saturday at 6pm for dinner which is a plus. Then as I walked in the sweet familiar aroma of home beckons. With that I am hooked. The Hainan chicken is just right. Juicy firm chicken popularly called the ‘yellow feather chicken’ was an excellent choice. However they tried too hard with 3 cuisines of Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand can be a tad too confusing Overall I will be back to try the other noodles.

A fan of some of their dishes. Service was lovely. I am VERY impressed by the waitress. I named 10 dishes and she didn’t write a single one down and yet, she nailed them all. Super impressive. Feedback on dishes that stood out: –Roti Canal $ 4.95 — I prefer Banana Island’s version. The curry was not amazing. The Roti was ok. Not as wowzer as BI. +Garlic Fries $ 5.95 — YUM, fried with real garlic ! Not worth $ 6 though… +Stir Fried Nasi Lemak — Awesome how it was served in a young coconut. It’s fresh. They pour out the coconut water for you to drink. The fried rice was amazing too. After you’re done, you can scrape out the coconut! Nice meal, drink, and dessert in one combo! All for the price of $ 9.50! Haha. ~Thai Tea $ 3.50 — Eh. This was ok. Nothing exceptional. Just standard. Will be returning if in the neighborhood!

First time here and I really liked the food but the service, not so much. I had ordered the Roti — crispy flaky flat bread with a potato curry like dip. Really yummy Kang kung belchan– stringy vegetable dish. Very flavorful with a little spice Basil chicken with green beans– my favorite of all. It also has a curry like taste. Malsysian tea…_(read my experience) I came here on a Sunday evening around 2. There wasn’t many customers, maybe 5 tables. I ordered all the above including two bowls of rice. The workers all seemed confused on all the tables orders. The meat and veggies plate came out first and of course id like to eat it with the rice so I waited, and I also reminded them that I had ordered rice but they said they were still cooking it. Then they prceeded to give me a Thai tea when I had ordered a Malaysian tea. They took it back and came back out with a «Malaysian tea» but it tasted exactly like a thai tea. I think they just stirred up the tea so it looks like a Malaysian tea. I mean I could be wrong also because I’ve never had a Malaysian tea before but I mean I have had a thai tea. So pretty much the whole time I could hear them mixing up the tables orders and not bringing rice out on time and people were being pretty impatient. It could just have been one of those days where things werent falling into place. This place is a must try though food was pretty bomb

Been here a couple of times now and have really enjoyed the flavorful offerings. Hainanese Chicken was moist and had good flavor. Served with typical minced ginger and chili sauce. Probably most favorite item is the laksa noodle soup. It a very large portion packed with a little of everything — chicken, eggplant, string beans, ocra, fish cake, potatoes, egg noodle all swimming in a beautiful curry flavored broth. Kang kong belachan was delicious and had great flavor. Didn’t overcook and was served hot and crunchy. Mee Goreng and Char Kway Teow noodles were right up there with any street stall found in Malaysia. Overall, above average. Food came out super fast. Great service but was better on one night than my second visit. There’s an outside hooka lounge in the back that’s a stone’s throw away from the Millbrae Bart station. Will go back to try the other items on the menu.

New establishment, they just opened in Dec 2013 on El Camino where The Boiling Bay used to be(next to Peter’s Café). Only street parking(do not park in the private lot behind it because you will get towed). It’s a mix of cuisines, but most of the waitresses speak Cantonese. Our Order: Roti Canai:($ 4.95) Malaysian Flying Bread. Crispy flour bread served with a curry dipping sauce Chicken Wings:($ 6.50) Deep fried chicken wings marinated and served w/special sauce Malaysia Dry Curry Chicken:($ 10.95) mixed with potatoes and string beans 2 orders of Brown Rice:($ 5) I really enjoyed the Roti Canai as it was thin and crispy. The curry that came with it, though, was cold which was a bit off putting. =(The Chicken Wings we ordered with the sauce on the side. The wings came out very crispy, juicy and hot but the sauce pretty much tastes like Thai Sweet Chilli. The Malaysia Dry Curry Chicken had a slow heat: as you ate more, it got spicier, but wasn’t too unbearable. I love potatoes and wished there were more pieces but there was a large portion of chicken in the dish so I’m glad they didn’t skimp on that. We weren’t too much a fan of the brown rice as they were fairly watery(the bowls had a pool of water at the bottom too). =/ Very attentive waitresses. Often checked-in on us and re-filled our drinks.

Greasy, salty, and needs to hire more help. The chicken curry was full of grease floating on top. The basil chicken was too salty. The glass noodles had too much ingredients that there was no essential focus to enjoy. The roti prata and spinach with shrimp paste were the only dishes we liked. for dinner. Not a place I would recommend or return to.

This place recently replaced the Boiling Pot, and I am glad that they did. Sorta. We usually come here for Cloudz Hookah, and end up getting something to eat. So why is this better than the Boiling Pot? — Service. They checked EVERYTHING for garlic content when they found out I have an allergy. Even the spices they use to cook. Impressed. — Wider menu selection — Tasty shrimp — Mint soup!!!(The chef even replaced fish balls with seafood mix for us, because he figured we wouldn’t like the fish balls) Why will I miss the Boiling Pot? — That soup with bean curd they used to have was really good — Their garlic free popcorn chicken — Their kitchen didn’t close at 10:15(Ipoh did make an exception for us the first time, but not the second time :(no last call either) So a definite 5* after the first visit, but we got a different waiter on our second visit, who wasn’t as nice and attentive :(

Upon entering, we were greeted by a nice, courteous waitress. Me and my cousin seated on a corner spot for two but since it wasn’t a very busy night, the waitress and I began wondering why we chose the spot. We decided to move to the more comfortable, more spacious seat. Although I am Filipino and we’re practically neighbors with Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore, this is my first time to eat Malaysian or Singaporean food which explains why it took me quite a while to decide what to choose. Some eons and 3 servers(stopping by to ask if we’re ready) passed by, we finally decided to get the sizzling tofu, basil chicken, coconut rice, and Malaysian iced tea. As opposed to some(or one) review(s) I read here, food was served not too long after we ordered. I swear, the time it took us to finally decide on what to eat took longer. Sizzling tofu was not even close to sizzling but it was on a sizzling plate so who am I to argue? Lol. Otherwise, it was soft and savory. Not bad for a tofu dish. However, health buffs might not consider it too healthy as it was on the greasy side. Their basil chicken was decent. Not something I would brag about if I own the place. The chicken was tender, but the dish was a little salty(maybe that’s how it should be). Because both dishes are on the salty side(and the rest of the menu is curry based), rice is definitely a must. I tried the coconut rice; curious as to how it would stimulate my palate. I didn’t taste anything spectacular. Not especially when the tofu and chicken flavors overpower the subtle flavor of the coconut. Or maybe, the coconut rice was meant to be consumed by itself? Lol. Their Malaysian iced tea was goood! But I bet you can get the same generic(but again, goood) flavor from other places’ Malaysian(or Thai) milke tea. The servers were nice and pleasant. Not one hint of rudeness. Although, the ordertaker didn’t know what the codes on the menu were so she asked us to say what we wanted exactly instead of saying V5 or P3, etc.; it’s not like the names of the dishes were hard to pronounce so no biggie there. Would I recommend this to a friend? Maybe. But after i give it another try.

Overall the food is pretty good. Service is friendly and fast. We ordered: — Nasi lemak(consists of chicken/potatoes curry, anchovies, peanuts, boiled egg, and pickles): everything’s good, except the anchovies. It’s not crispy so it’s tough to chew. — Laksa: yummy! — Malaysian dry curry beef: beef is chewy, I almost couldn’t eat it. The flavor is really good though, maybe I’ll try the lamb/chicken next time? The food tastes authentic, despite few imperfections in the dishes. I’ll come back!

So far so good! Just coming back from a trip to Malaysia, on the way back from the airport I noticed that this new restaurant that replaced Boiling Bay I was still on vacation mode and already missing the Malaysian food so I needed to try this place out. They are still on «soft opening» mode and still figuring out the supply vs demand numbers. Unfortunately they ran out of Kangkung Belacan and Haianese Chicken due to the high demand. I definitely will come back to give them a try. So we ordered the string beans belacan, malaysian chicken dry curry and laksa. All of them tasty very fresh and authentic. I really recommend the dry curry chicken dish — yo won’t be disappointed. The staff is very friendly and approachable. I spoke with one of the owners(?) Adrian and we talked about my trip to Malaysia and he showed a couple of posters with pictures from Malaysia that they will put on the walls later. I will also come back to try out their Ipoh White Coffee. Adrian promised me to learn how to make Teh Tarik. =) I wish the best for this business. Millbrae needs more variety of Asian cuisines! Parking is plenty on the side street between the Bart station and Peter’s Café.

It’s only their soft opening, but already there’s a crowd on Sunday afternoon. The food was super yummy: Roti Canai as appetizer was on-the-house(we did not order it). It was nothing special. It could be more crispy though. The dipping sauce(no meat/veggie) was awesome. The Kangkung Belacan was fresh and the belacan sauce not too strong nor salty but adequate and very delicious. The Singaporean Chili Prawn was great. A bit sweet and mild spicy. I think it would be nicer if it’d be made a little more spicy. The Laksa was perfect. The broth was not watery and it has a creamy texture. The portion is big too with a lot of meat n vegetables in it. Watch out for the cholesterol level though because of the ‘nice’ amount of coconut milk in it. The Malaysian Dry Curry Chicken almost tasted like rendang, except it was less spicy and with chicken. The potatoes that were in it makes the whole dish superb. Love it very much The Sizzling Tofu with black bean sauce was okay. The tofu was soft and the vegetable was fresh and still crunchy. It tastes a little bit funny though, probably because the black bean sauce & sizzling combination. Should ask if they can make it with either regular brown or white sauce instead next time. By the way, rice was not included with any entrée. Have to be ordered separately. Service(taking order, serving food, refill drinks) was kinda bad though, but it was not the server’s fault. It was their soft-opening and they did not expect the crowd. There was only 1 server with 5 – 7 tables. The owner(s)/manager(s)/other workers(s) did not help much(maybe did not want to ?) where they should have. Do not want the bad rep for service when your business just opened, do you? The pricing is higher than other malaysian/singapore/thai restaurants. However, it is probably ‘okay’ considering it’s in Millbrae. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Will definitely come back and try other dishes. Hope they can maintain the quality of the food and improve the flow of service.
