We wandered in here when the restaurant we came for was closed. Yikes! This is a bar for regulars in the area, not a family friendly tavern. The people were very friendly, but the food was sub-par.(It makes it harder to give bad reviews to nice people, but it is about the food — sorry guys.) I got the steak tips, which were over marinated and overcooked. My wife got a burger, which was pretty unspectacular. We got some boneless buffalo wings that were equally unimpressive. Throw in a pitcher of flat beer and you have the perfect ingredients for mediocrity that dabbles in the terrible. Tips and burgers should be a staple, when a bar does them badly, it’s just a place to get to get drunk. Unless you are looking for a place to grab a quick beer, a flat beer, with some friendly people, then keep going.

This is a pretty typical townie bar. Decent beer selection, lots of locals, and the usual ambience.

Sunday brunch definately worth the price especially with the discounted Bloody Mary. Only 2 other tables had customers so there was no wait and had the place to ourselves. Not sure if it was that particular Sunday there was no crowd or if it is like that all the time.

Decent Sunday morning buffet($ 8) during football season from 10 to 1 pm. They serve the usual breakfast foods plus things like wings and pasta. Food during regular hours is pretty good. The menu is relatively small but varied. The shepherds pie has become a favorite. The waitstaff is very friendly although some of the bartenders seem to put a little pressure for you to have«just one more drink.» The scene at the bar isn’t the best. During the day there are the old folks who reek of stale cigarette smoke. At night there is the obnoxious 21 year old kids who are just learning(and failing) to drink. Doesn’t seem to be much middle ground. Plenty of fights outside after midnight over the last few years and just as many people telling stories of stolen purses and wallets.

It’s really easy to take over the«upstairs» area of this bar with a couple of your friends. I recommend bringing a deck of cards with you to play drinking games at the big round table. The bar really has that«drinking in your parent’s basement» feel, especially with the oddly placed book shelf. You can’t go wrong with the $ 2 mini pitchers, and the rug will absorb ANYTHING in like 2 seconds.

My coworkers and I used to go here all the time for lunch on Fridays, although we don’t really go anymore. It’s always pretty dead around lunch time and we’re usually the only ones in the dining room. The food is very very cheap, so usually my boss buys, which is always a bonus! It’s all pretty greasy food, though. Greasy food doesn’t always sit well with me, so I usually leave with a stomach ache I tried going here for dinner once after work with a friend. We got there just before 6, and were advised that we had to order immediately because the kitchen was closing. I found that a little bit odd. Overall, I’d say this is an okay place for a quick, cheap meal. I’ve never been for the bar experience, so maybe it’s better for that?

Best burgers and fries in town, or maybe beyond. Free live music from time to time, which is an added plus!

Local bar with local folks playing Keno all evening. Food there is a roll of the dice but the bartenders are good.

Very nice bar with pool table and TVs. Drinks are reasonably cheap and the bar has a friendly living room atmosphere. Went there at night so I didn’t try any food. Service was good.

So Saturday night, I’ve recently moved home to the suburbs from the city, and one of my friends is a regular. Okay, let’s give it a shot. At first I think– what a townie bar! But see, my friend the regular knows the bartender and that is always a good sign in my experience. Very friendly guy, everyone here seems to know each other(Cheers, anyone?). Twelve bucks bought me four Sam’s on draft… a real bargain considering that would cost me closer to twenty before a tip in the city. I hear they have a live DJ on Fridays but the background music for Saturday was actually a really good mix(okay, except that one Neil Diamond song). I would definitely go back for the more crowded time I’ve heard about on a Friday. This place is small but it didn’t seem crowded. The only thing I found totally weird was they have a bookcase. Yes, a bookcase, full of books. As if anyone goes there to read? I can’t review a bar without commenting on the bathrooms. Very clean! I was impressed, small but clean although one of the sinks did not work, which was strange.
