Stop & Shop Supermarket

This review is based on my bakery order. I ordered a half sheet photo cake. I asked them to write Happy Birthday Stephen. The quality of the cake was horrible. They spelled his name wrong and wrote it in tiny letters. The cake cost me $ 42!!! I’m furious.

My husband and I normally shop at this Stop & Shop because it seems to have decent prices. My complaint is with the customer service in this store, particularly in the meat department. No matter which person seems to help us, we can’t find one that is actually helpful. Today I tried to purchase a piece of salmon. I chose the one I wanted and asked for a piece to be cut to about .75 of a pound. He said he couldn’t do that because he wouldn’t be able to do anything with the rest of the piece… it was too small. Ok, fine. So he cut a piece off a larger fish. He then weighed this piece and it still wasn’t the weight I had asked for. He said that he couldn’t keep cutting pieces because he couldn’t estimate how much it would weigh. Well, I’m sorry, but with all of the meat cutting that you do all day long, shouldn’t you be able to estimate the correct size a customer is asking for? Mind you, he kept cutting pieces that were too big. This makes sense, right? Cut it too big because you can always cut it down? No. He won’t cut it down. So really, he’s just making me purchase more product than I want. Why aren’t these people taught the appropriate serving size and how to cut that size? (Don’t even get me started on asking them to cut it in half… why do they always look like this is the most annoying request and I am ruining their day by even suggesting they do this?) Are these really things that a butcher shouldn’t be expected to do? C’mon Stop and Shop… I think a little training is in order.

Manager is SUPER friendly and kind, but this store is SO Old and Dirty!
Exterior Signs are the only things that have been redone in this store in 10 years. Floors in dyre need of a wash. Signs need to be updated to new Stop & Shop logo, and style the Walpole, Franklin, Norwood, and so many other Stop & Shop stores have incorporated.
Definitely in need of update! Go to Hannaford on Rt 109 for a bit better experience.

They always have what I need and staff is always willing to help me find whatever I am looking for.

This is a review of Stop and shop as a grocery store. The selection is very complete. The produce department is pretty good except for Strawberries. They come pre rotted.
My main complaint is price. I can get my groceries at other stores for ¹⁄₃ less then stop and shop. There prices are the worst around. I predict they will be the next super market chain to go under.
