Our Daughter has gone to Camp Netimus for the past 4 years and she loves. It is an all girls camp, so there isn’t the drama and distraction of boys. the Camp is in an ideal setting in the woods on a small lake in the Pocono mountains. The girls get to pick their activities from a wide range of sports, arts, dance, crafts, swimming and watersports. The sports are not reall serious, but they are interested in basic instruction, but there is a non-competitive philosophy. If your daughter is a high level athlete who is looking to further her game, this is not for you. But girls can try a new sport and the directors and the other campers are welcoming of new kids with diverse interests.

Ok, so I may be just a little biased since I worked here this past summer, but I have to say, if you are looking for a camp that is rustic(we do have electricity and running water), with a well knit community that carries on traditions that date back to the 1930’s that is all girls, then this is your camp! Upon arriving to camp, I was blown away by the location of the camp. Rolling hills and many trees along with small woodland creatures. I love the outdoors and camping and nature so this was heaven for me. Camp is nestled in the heart of the Pocono Mountains and is about 15 minutes from town. It has its own lake and also their own ranch. I do have to say that camp participates in Pike County Athletics, which consists of other camps in the area, and Camp Netimus won first place overall in the Pike County Horse Show in 2010. There are a couple directors that oversee the camp and they are some of the greatest and nicest people you will ever meet. Jim and Donna Kistler were the original directors and are still there today helping out with everything. Brendan and Darlene Calton are the big bosses as I like to call them and pretty much wear many hats. Tabitha Taber is a former camper that is also another director. There are many international campers that come to camp and they fly in to either Newark Liberty or JFK in NYC and are picked up by camp. In addition, we have bus service to DC/Baltimore area, Philly and also NYC that transport your daughter to camp as well. Camp runs for 7 weeks. You have your choice of the full session, or you may send your daughter for 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 week sessions. There are so many different activities to choose from during that time such as: Archery, Horseback Riding, Ropes, Swimming, Canoeing, Sailing, Kayaking, Soccer, Running, not to mention field trips to baseball games, fairs and much more. They even write letters home to the family once a week(some choose to write everyday). They are allowed care packages from home and that makes the girls very happy. This is just a little bit of what they offer. I hope that you enjoy learning some of what goes on at camp! You should really go check Netimus out! Your daughter will have memories that last a lifetime, not to mention friendships that last a lifetime!
