Not a lot of food options and way over priced. The food portions are small and not super tasty. The parking lot is tiny. There’s always a long wait time and you must wait outside which is uncomfortable with the heat and bugs. It’s convenient for the area.

I have no idea why this place has a 4-star review. This is the best seafood restaurant within 25 miles of Midway, easily. They are located ON the Jerico river. Shrimp boats pull up and unload at their dock, and they have frequent specials of Grouper(a common catch of the day) and Mahi. Both are grilled to perfection. We’ve been here 10 times and NEVER had overcooked calamari. Crab buckets are as well-endowed as possible, shrimp are perfectly cooked and shellfish/bivalve allergy differences are manageable. Don’t know what I mean? I am allergic to oysters and other«clammy» foods. My uncle is allergic to shrimp. We were able to eat together with no problems. The only thing they don’t offer is vegetarian options, which is completely expected for a seafood restaurant this close to the sea. However, the steamed broccoli is my FAVORITE side to accompany the catch of the day, and the chocolate lava cake is a perfect size for«me plus a bite for my friend». Pineapple upside down cake is made in the same single-serving bundt cake pan.

Cute place. Food was good. However this place is somewhat on the water which is probably awesome during the summer but during early March it was downright cold in the place. I feel they should install Windows so that in the cooler months it won’t be uncomfortably cold. We went in for lunch ordered the catch of the day which was Mahi Mahi it was very good however it was pricy for lunch!!!27.00 a piece for the fish which came w 2 sides. Once we got over that we rationalized that it was a good weekend we were on our way home and probably wouldn’t frequent the place anymore. The sides of collards and black eye peas were delish. Overall a 3 but they must do something to make it comfortable in the early spring months. Waitress Halsley was sweet and customer friendly.

Typical seafood joint. Their food is decent though I think they over do the seasonings, which doesn’t really allow the freshness of the seafood to shine through. Or is that the point??? Anyway it’s either fried or grilled, on a taco or in a basket. We ate outside and quickly noticed the tables were sticky. The waitress said it was the humidity… ok, I am from Florida; I get it… but your tables are sticky. I think they use their proximity to the water to attract guest but I felt just as uneasy eating grouper here as I would be in Iowa. I love seafood but I am also picky. I’ve eaten fresh fish and I’ve eaten at places that smelled fishy… this is one of them. If you are dying for seafood, go for it. But it’s not my first choice of places to eat in this area.

Lauren, our server is wonderful! We haven’t even left yet and I’m leaving this review. If you want FANTASTIC food and service, this is the place to be! We were lucky enough to have been here while a band was playing… wish I could give more than 5 stars!!!

Searched seafood on Unilocal and in comparison to the other local seafood restaurants this was the highest rated. This was a huge let down. I ordered the fried shrimp tacos and my husband ordered the fried shrimp basket. Neither dish was fresh or had any taste. The best part of out meal was the fries. Not impressed, I do not recommend and will never be back.

I was so excited to finally be going to this place. I have heard so much about it, and I love finding new places that are off the beaten path. This place is absolutely off the beaten path, think Sam Merlotte’s place from the show ‘True Blood’. The Sunbury Crab House is the Georgia equivalent. The ambiance in this place is fantastic. Old school character and you can actually watch the workers bring the fresh seafood up from the boats off the pier. The open air atmosphere was exactly what I was in the mood for, and had it not already been dark the view would have been breathtaking. Five stars + for the atmosphere. Then the down side. The prices were high. I mean ridiculous for this type of place. I pay less when I go out to ‘Bonefish Grill’ where I expect to pay for a night out alone with my wife. We ordered a pound of steamed shrimp = $ 25. Keep in mind they pull it up from the water right there. A few weeks ago I drove down the road to Darien and bought 8lbs of fresh shrimp from a guy at the dock for $ 5/lb. not sure how they can justify such a mark up. We also ordered the fresh catch, which was delicious. Grilled grouper filet with cheese grits. $ 30. Too much for a fish filet with no presentation. The service was also not very good. Waited nearly an hour for steamed shrimp and a grilled piece of fish. The menu is very simple, so there is no way I can understand how things take more than just a minute to cook. Everyone in the restaurant is ordering the same thing bc the menu is very limited(as it should be in this type of place). So the only reason for the delay is poor management. As this was my first experience, and it was a Friday night, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and try it out again, but they had a very long line waiting to get in just because they could not keep up with things. We got there early, just before 6 on a Friday night. We had no wait and probably got to sit at the best table they had, not sure why they were behind so early in the evening on a Friday night. This is the type of place you would want to show off to your out of town guests as ‘your little secret spot’ or you special go to local diamond in the rough seafood place, however with those prices I wouldn’t do it. This place should have the best priced, freshest seafood in town. Instead it’s over priced and very far out of the way. So much potential though. I was so disappointed. Hope they can make some improvements.

Ok, so it’s pretty much impossible to stumble on this restaurant by accident unless you’re extraordinarily lost. That being said, if you’re going to get lost, do it here. We happened to stumble upon this hidden Georgian gem on our way to Florida while looking for places that served blue crab. We ordered their pork loin and about dozen blue crabs with old bay seasoning. The pork loin was incredibly juicy considering how thick of a cut it was and the blue crab was fresh caught and flavorful. It doesn’t hurt that most of the restaurant is set up so you get great views of the pier no matter where you sit. Also, a lot of the food comes with sides so try the creamed corn or the fries and you’ll be full in no time at all.

I probably would’ve only given three stars but the ambiance of being right on the water, overlooking the docks with all the windows open, pushed this review up to 4 stars. Both my husband and I had the shrimp(which is caught daily right at the restaurant)– my husband had his fried and mine was grilled. Next time I’ll probably have mine fried. Some of my shrimp was seasoned perfectly, while others had too much. We also had our waitress forgot about us because of all the big parties in the restaurant on a Saturday night. But I wasn’t too bothered by it because of our beautiful view, other friendly patrons and she offered us a free desert(even though we didn’t take it). We’ll probably go again if need to take a break from the bleakness of Hinesville.

The food and service is amazing. Their drinks are top shelf and quality. Make sure to try the sunberry sunset. Also as you order some foods they are pulling them out of the water fresh. Very relaxed and enjoyable staff. I come here occasionally and always enjoy myself. Their food, is likely the best in Ga if you ask me. Hidden, fresh, and easy on the wallet. That’s sunberry Crab Co.

Wow! On a super long drive back to FL and cruising through GA, I hit Unilocal on my phone to look for some seafood… figuring since I was near the coast n’ all. Up came Sunbury…“long drive in”…“out of the way”…PERFECT! Drove a very bumpy SUNBURY Road to get there… don’t take it. Take the main road to the end instead. Menu is small which is ALWAYS good. Fried shrimp, oysters and fish. OKTHEN!!! I got the fried oyster appetizer… being a little leery that it’s not an «R» month… and you shouldn’t ingest oysters. Home cut fries as well. While waiting for my order, I got a cocktail… which was made PERFECTLY by an adorable and sassy southern brunette. «you want that in a to go cup honey so you can enjoy the view?» Why, yes, yes I do. I stood and looked at the beautiful meandering waterways of Georgia from their deck and waited for my food. As i walked out to may car… adorable young southern boys said«hello ma’am…how are you today?» Yes, southern charm indeed. I got into the car… and drove. On the road… I took one of the oysters and put it in my mouth… SWEETBABYJEEEEZUS!!! BEST fried oysters I ever had!!! Why oh why did I only get the appetizer??? Fortunately, the fries sealed the deal and filled me up. Seriously, if you’re heading south or north on I-95.it’s about 13 mins off the road. WELLWORTHIT… WELL, WELLWORTHIT.

Looked forward to a break from the long drive. A bucket of crabs during crab season sounded fantastic. No crabs. ??? At a crab restaurant? We decided to settle for the bucket of oysters. No oysters. Ordered the garlic shrimp. Served hot with loads of butter and garlic. Legs on. Shell not severed up the back or even at the legs. Not deveined. We were burning our fingers trying to get the shell off. Sent back. Don’t go. Calamari as a last resort. Was ok… good.

The food was great and the scenery was memorable at this seafood bar/restaurant that is not too far from I-95 if you are traveling through. Our server was nice and helpful. Our only issues were the selections on the menu and the pricing being high. For example, they didnt have a mahi mahi sandwich but only as an entrée which was $ 27(ouch) and this was the ‘catch of the day’.

We stopped by here pretty late in the evening while on a road trip. It definitely was off the beaten path and a little unsettling at night when you’re city folk… It was pretty average compared to the ratings it received. The staff was nice, but it didn’t have that southern charm I’ve experienced elsewhere. It actually had more of chain restaurant feel. Our server was a total sweetheart, but otherwise the staff and guests didn’t seem particularly friendly. And it certainly wasn’t bustling with laughter or happiness. It seemed more like a place to go with co-workers or family you’ve fallen out of love with. I ordered the fish tacos and they were much better than the average fish taco at most places, but it still seemed like something you could get at Applebee’s — they basically just put shrimp and cheese in a tortilla and then you dress it with ingredients as you wish. My boyfriend’s entrée was embarrassingly overcooked, but still edible. I guess I was expecting this place to be mind-blowingly good, and when it wasn’t, I was disappointed. Maybe it was our own fault for not ordering a crab dish…

Absolutely perfectly executed low country seafood. I can’t remember a more authentic steamed blue crab experience outside of Maryland(and you know I asked for extra Old Bay). Place has a Bubba Gump Shimp Co interior with plates and signs and southern references, except it’s packed with locals and they live the ambiance. Situated waterfront there is a fantastic view with zero questions all of their seafood comes off the fishing boats not 500 yards away. Terrific portions, reasonable prices, zero complaints.

I love this restaurant very much. We go here about every day. With varieties of seafood and steak this is the place to be if you are down in the south. Plus they are open all day Sunday from noon to 8:30. They are like our family, we go there so much. You can watch ball games and on Sunday nights they even have bands!

A real local gem! The kind of place that relies on local knowledge. Most people will not stumble upon it, but hopefully this review will help. While far off the beaten trail, it’s completely worth the drive. Nestled amongst the Georgia marshes and coastal waterways, Sunbury Crab Co harvests their own fresh catch daily. There simply isn’t better seafood. Forget the over-priced tourist traps in Savannah. If you prefer a quaint, peaceful and authentic place, Sunbury Crab Co. is for you! The food is delicious. I recommend just about everything on the menu. All is served well with cold beer.

Sunbury Crab Co is a wonderful restaurant. People are very nice there and the seafood is very good. If you are not far from this restaurant(my friend and I were doing a road trip in Florida) you should definitely go to this place. Believe me, you won’t regret.
