While this place has all the potential in the world, it is extremely lacking. The food wasn’t bad, and our chef was pretty nice. However, for the amount or quality of the food, it is not worth $ 20. Sure it’s not bad, but Yamatos surpasses this by far. The chicken was dry, and the salad you get at the beginning was abysmal. The cabbage is the lowest grade you can get, and the ginger sauce had chunks in it. The rice wasn’t bad, and the white sauce is pretty decent. However, all of these things seem to pale when it comes to the atmosphere of this restaurant. Our waitress was appalling when it came to service. I have no problem with waiting if necessary, as I work in the restaurant industry myself. But her attitude was more than lacking and she seemed to make smart remarks throughout the night. The same cannot be said about the chef, as he was friendly and attempted to make conversation. Along with all of these things, had I not been told it was a Japanese Steakhouse, I would have no idea what kind of restaurant it was. There is a bar which is extremely uninviting that takes up half the restaurant. This is real estate that the store could use for dining, rather than an unattractive bar with a weird underdressed guy standing behind. And regarding the cleanliness and state of the restaurant, there are cheaply made signs everywhere, poor decoration, and questionable black spots on some of the doors to the back, which is reminiscent of one of those sketchy $ 5 Chinese buffets you visit noon on a weekday in a back alley. It’s a shame really, as there’s so much to work with, and so much potential with SOME of the staff, and the location of this restaurant. But overall, it was an extremely underwhelming dining experience, and I would not recommend this to anyone with common sense.

This is easily the worst restaurant I’ve been to in my life. Last night we went & were told the wait for 3 people to have dinner would be 30 mins. An hour later we were finally seated. 20 mins later a waitress came to get our drink orders. 20 mins later we finally got the drinks & they took our food orders. It took another half hour before we got soup or salad. We were squished like sardines at this table and the table is too close to the hibachi grill. When they began to cook dinner my face felt like it was getting burned from the flame. The servers were rude and unhelpful & the staff bickered in front of their patrons. The chef was friendly and cooked well and I had no complaints there. We spent over 3 hours in the restaurant for an overpriced, horrible service, rude environments experience. The floors of the restaurant were dirty and wet and the waitstaff did the very bare minimum. I decided while I was there I would never go back. In addition, everyone in our group ended up with food poisoning and sick. What a terribly managed restaurant. Even if there wasn’t food positioning, the long wait, etc– I wouldn’t patronize this place simply for how rude the waitstaff was and how dirty everything was kept. So disappointed in my experience & would recommend going anywhere else but here to anyone considering it.

Horrible owner. Does not understand customer service. Chefs were like robots. Unfriendly service. Food was average. Atmosphere like a trashy bar. Price was way high given the lack of quality or service. Do yourself justice, spend your time and hard earned money elsewhere.

My wife and I like to go to different hibachi grills. We saw a groupon add for this place and figured we would try it. When we got there, we waited to be asked how many people were in our party. I had grabbed a beer from the bar and was almost half way done. Just poor management nothing else. They asked us about three times and then before we could respond just walked away. When we were finally seated it took 30 minutes to order our food. The soup tasted funny. Neither of us finished it. The salad was their best part. We both got sushi just to see how theirs was. Would not recommend. You can get better quality from the pre made at any grocery store. To top that off, they brought out the guys next to us messed up and asked him if he would still eat it or if they had to remake it… Really who does that. He waited another 25 minutes for it to come back. After all that we still had to wait almost 30 more minutes till the cook came out. There was no show like we are use to getting anywhere else. The rice was under seasoned. Not enough sauce in it. The veggies were to raw. The portions were also the smallest we have seen. First time she has ever finished her meal at one of those places. Anyways I ordered my steak rare with scallops and my wife got her stake medium rare. The guy asked my wife if she got medium rare because it had been on to long and she said yes. So he hurried up to take it off. I let him know I ordered mine rare. Did not make a difference. He served everyone else first then put my medium to well done on last. Tried 2 pieces n didn’t eat the rest. Wife didn’t like hers either. Told the waitress because she asked what happened and didn’t change the bill so still had to pay for the combination. Would never recommend this place to anyone. Oh the yum yum sauce is not good here either… Best part of eating there was knowing I’m never coming back… Well our table agreed upon that.

Food was good but what happened to the show they used to do. They did one flame and a spinning egg and nothing else. Nothing funny!

Food was excellent as usual. Service seems to be steadily getting worse. May take a break for awhile.

The food is good but I have had it with this restaurant. Normally I don’t go out of my way to write a bad review but the way they work up there is ridiculous. A few weeks ago I wanted to order something to go the lady over the phone said we don’t do orders to go over the phone… really you have done them before. I go up tonight to order sushi and hibachi to go and the would not make my sushi. That is not how customer service works especially at dinner if you have a full sushi bar and then say I can’t order it to go it’s needs to posted somewhere. They have forever lost my business!

Was looking for a great hibachi dinner-my advice is keep looking. This wasn’t it. The waitress was great-chef a little condescending. When I asked if they served noodles in place of rice, he helpfully informed me I was in a Japanese-not Chinese restaurant. Last I checked, the Japanese also serve many lovely noodle dishes. The cooking show was great, and my steak was cooked perfectly-but it was all utterly flavorless. Yum yum sauce too sweet, ginger sauce faintly tasted like dish soap. We snuck some salt packets out of my purse-didn’t help.

Thank you Groupon for introducing me to a new spot. I had the Hibachi Scallops dinner. I was hungry and I ate everything that was put in front of me. For starters I had cucumber, avocado, and crab roll appetizer. I was so hungry and found this tasty. I just wanted some more out of the appetizer. I had been to a Japanese steakhouse before, so I wasn’t there for the food preparation show, just for the food itself. I had a hot date and that’s what I was most interested in. The hibachi dinner comes with a two-piece shrimp appetizer, miso soup, fried rice, veggies, and the main meat or fish. The scallops were phenomenal! Soft and succulent, and they are making me drool as I write. I had no complaints about the food. We were the first party in the place at 7 pm on a Wednesday and by the time we left, three tables had filled. I guess you could say we brought the party along. Our waitress seemed to be new on the job, but I can’t complain about that because she brought everything we ordered and always kept our drinks filled. Great dinner with a handsome hunk and I left feeling full.

It was typical hibachi food. It tasted good, but the veggie serving was really small and the cooking wasn’t timed as well as other hibachis I’ve been to. Maybe the server was new, but she didn’t provide good service. She rarely checked on the table, left all the salad plates and soup bowls until another server saw them piled up and took them(this was well into dinner service when we were getting our hibachi food), and took forever with the checks. It was fine for a Groupon, but otherwise I would recommend finding a different hibachi restaurant.

I took my girlfriend out to eat here earlier this week using a Groupon we had purchased for here. Immediately we received wonderful treatment from the staff as we were seated really fast. We explained we had a Groupon and he asked us if we knew how the place worked and just told us a little about the restaurant. We ordered the Chicken Hibachi dinner. It came with a clear soup and a ginger salad to start off while he was preparing the grill for us. Finally we get to the show and he was very good with customer relations. The food portions we were given ended up being almost double portions, they were very large and both me and my girlfriend took a whole serving home for later. I am very excited about going back to this restaurant and intend on taking a larger group of people for some company around their Hibachi tables.

Fantastic food. Kin San was our chef and was one of the best preparers I’ve ever had at a hibachi grikk. Everything cooked perfectly and a fun show. Excellent steak. Chicken ok. Scallops excellent

Okay, so where do I start… the food was decent, but for the price it wasn’t really worth it. The staff was extremely friendly, which is the only reason why this place is receiving 3 stars, and not 1. To be honest the only reason why we came here in the first place is because of the fact that my mother-in-law gave my husband and I a $ 50.00 gift certificate. They mainly drown everything in soy sauce for the hibachi, like they do at all hibachi places here. I had the hibachi shrimp, and my husband just got the chicken teriyaki. I wasn’t too happy with the fact that the chef had given a male who was sitting at the same table a larger portion than I and his wife for the simple fact that he was larger in size. I paid the same amount that they did, so I believe it’s only fair if we all receive equal portions. The vegetables were fresh, which was good. But the shrimp and fried rice was not $ 20.00 good. I think my husband’s order was actually better tasting than what I got, and better portioned-it was prepared in the back. Getting back to the prices. As previously stated we had a $ 50.00 gift certificate between the two of us which we used. The price of everything was the first thing I noticed when I opened up the menu. We ended up using the entire thing between the two of us. I laughed, and left a 20% tip just because the staff was great. Contrary to previous reviews, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I’m assuming they just did a wipe out of their previous staff because they had a «now hiring» sign posted in their window. The owner was also frequently checking up on us which is another plus. Another thing I noticed, as I do in all eateries is that they keep everything immaculately clean. All in all, this place is decent.

I have yet to have a bad meal here. The hibachi chefs are amazing and the sushi is ripe with local flavor. A definite first choice when the urge arises.

Like many others here, I ended up eating here because the wait for Made in Asia was a little long and we were hungry. This is clearly a place on it’s way out. The staff would gather around a table to use their phones while the few customers in the place waited to be served. The overpriced food is on par to cheap take out, the service is lacking and the décor is dated and in need of a good cleaning in several spots. We noticed all this while waiting for our food, which took forever. The entire time we were questioning if we should just go ahead and leave, but we decided to stick it out. The chicken was dry, the salad drenched in a bad ginger dressing and the rice soaked with soy sauce. I would be a little more forgiving if the price set a lower expectation. Again, the food is on par with mediocre take out that you get more out of convenience than quality. Bottom line: save yourself the trouble. This place has an apathetic attitude across the board. I mean they can’t even correct the typo in their Unilocal listing.

Good food, there was a crowd, so we decided to go and eat in a booth. and got the hibachi from the cook in the kitchen. Sushi was good and they excepted modifications to make it spicy which was nice. Service was average to slow and that is why I’m rating it a 3 but the food was definitely a 4. We would come back again. Place is a little on the small side so prepare to wait if you come late.

Came here with some friends because of a 45 minute wait at Made In Asia, needless to say we left full but probably wont return. The restaurant looks a little run down on the inside, we sat in a booth, the springs are worn out leaving you sitting on whatever wood boards are supporting the seat, very uncomfortable. The staff was friendly, but the food was mediocre at best. We all got the hibachi chicken; included with this entrée you get a cup of miso soup and ginger salad. Both the soup and salad were nothing to write home about, the salad was practically drowned in ginger dressing. The hibachi chicken was mostly dry, not a lot of chicken but you get a ton of rice. I also had the sake, which really wasn’t all that good either. Really not worth a second return, too many other hibachi places around that offer a nicer and comfortable environment with tasty grub to boot.

Our first mistake was not noticing that they were playing country music, which is atypical for a Japanese restaurant. The service was awful. Inexperienced, unfriendly. The waitress didn’t offer any specials. The menu seems okay, but is overpriced. I got a ginger salad which amounts to a cup of roughly chopped iceberg lettuce drowning in ginger dressing. The miso? soup was unpalatable. Tasted more like canned beef broth. The sushi was okay, nothing great but nothing bad. Could have been made a little tighter. Boyfriend got the hibachi chicken which was dry. The fried rice was drenched in soy and way too salty. Mostly empty on a Sat night, we were only here because MIA had a 45 min wait. We will not be returning.
