Friendly staff. The food was pretty good. The prices were fair and the atmosphere was a little strange; a mix of romantic and family. I would recommend trying this place but there are better around.

Went shortly after they opened so hopefully they have improved since then. Food was decent, nothing special. Service was slow, in the whole restaurant there were about 3 tables sat with people and literally every other table had dirty dishes that had yet to be cleared from them. At the host station some kind of Greek rap was being blasted from a cheap docking station, the music was obnoxious and being played way too loud. Overall if the service has improved then the food can be a nice change of pace from the usual places you eat, it’s nothing to brag about at best though.

Athenian Restaurant is really good. The atmosphere is very cute and is perfect for date night. I would definitely go again.

«Manager» was rude and condescending when I asked about gluten-free options. I’m sorry that I don’t don’t know as much about your menu as you think I should know… I’m sorry that you don’t know as much as you think you know…

Went here for a late lunch and missed the rush. SO glad we finally made it here. It is amazing Greek food — authentic, from scratch, delicious — and a welcome change for Midland! The dolmades and the lamb were both fantastic. Very conscientious and attentive waitress(owner?) took care of everything. Will definitely be back. Cannot recommend enough!

Excellent food — excellent service — -definitely worth trying!!! It is in a back corner behind some medical buildings, so it was a little difficult to find but so glad I was persistent! The gyro was fantastic… hummus and pita bread awesome and the Greek salad that came with my meal was huge. If you are in Midland, it is so worth your time!

Great food, great service, generous portions, great staff. The Zeus appetizer is large enough for two or three.

Great food and great service. Probably the best hummus I have ever tried. Fresh made. Also had the Lamb souvlaki. The lamb was perfectly cooked and the tatziki sauce with pita was wonderful. I will definitely be back next time I travel to Midland.

Love, love it! The first time we went there, it was pretty hard to find it. It was hidden at a corner, with no visible sign on the wall(Google map was not accurate at that time). The interior is ok, not to my liking but the food… i fell in love at their pita & hummus!

Worst service. Betsy was an awful waitress with a bad attitude. I get it was late and I’m sure she had a long day, but the solemn face and apathetic tone was very off putting to our experience. She clearly had already mentally checked out for the night as she switched up our credit cards with someone else’s and we didn’t realize till we were in line to pay for Christmas gifts. She had the nerve to suggest we pick it up the next day. Who has that time to be without funds during the holidays while traveling. Took quite a bit of a long time that night to get our card back as she didn’t want to give it to us. If you ever get Betsy as your waitress, request to be seated in someone else’s section. She almost ruined Christmas for my family. She’s incompetent. She refuses to take responsibility for her actions. She’s untrustworthy. She’s the grinch who tried to steal Christmas.

I am sorry to say that this restaurant is going worse everytime I go. I do not think I will go again. I liked the food the first times(less on the last time), but last time I almost decided to turn back the food: I got what they call«moussaka» and it is not even close to what a moussaka should be. Also, they destroyed the taste putting so much cinnamon on it that I could not tell if I was eating an apple cake or what. Also, the quantity of food they five you is decreasing and decreasing but the prices are going higher and higher(I think it is not fair to pay 26 $ for 5 lamb chops) Finally, the last time I went they decided to make the food«american style» and made the fries twisted and they put ketchup on them. Sorry, but if I go to a greek restaurant I expect greek food.

Tasty. We arrived at 1pm to a completely empty restaurant, a bit worried but WOW! Tasty! Everything was fresh and flavorful. We had the Zeus sample platter. And a Greek salad wrap with potatoes. The potatoes were ok not authentic enough for my liking but still good. The chicken souvlaki and a gyros wrap with chicken. Service was top notch and will absolutely go again 3 out of 3. We would all come again!

Out of the restaurants I’ve tried in Midland, I can say this one has pretty decent food from the given choices. The hummus had a little too much garlic but the flavor was good. The lamb souvlaki was pretty good. The avgolemono soup was not too lemony but was pretty nice. I’d come back to this place to try other menu items.

Decided to give this try after a friend recommended it to me. Inside is a bit dated. When I came in there was no one, no one at all in the restaurant. I ordered the Spinach, Feta & Artichoke Dip and the lamb gyro. The Spinach, Feta & Artichoke Dip was not good to me and I would not recommended it, however the lamb gyro was really good and would definitely come back for the gyro. I think the price is a bit on the high side though.

I feel sorry for the waitress there. She was cute very sweet and provided good service but totally clueless. She does not know how to serve a table. The food is Greek maybe. I should have known when I see Moussaka top by a bechemel sauce. A Greek favorite with French sauce? ?? First the fire cheese appetizers. horrible. It’s two huge wedge of goat cheese in an alcohol fire drench in lemon. The Greek salad was over dressed. I have about 1⁄3 bowl of salad dressing left in my salad. We ask for recommendations and she could not make a recommendation to save her life. Well we got the lamb souvlaki with roasted potato. The Athenian chicken over asparagus with avelonean(chicken lemon dill soup). Well the soup us a white mush with dry chicken and barely a hint of lemon or dill. The Athenian chicken stuffed with a spinach cheese filling top with a dill cream sauce. The sauce was wrong for the chicken. It was too creamy and heavy with all that cheese. It’s like a dated 1950 french dishes. The potato had strong dill flavoring but it was served in a bath of oil. The lamb souvlaki was a very good cut of lamb and very tender but flavorless. Greek rice was mushy. I say the chef was trained in a french kitchen but trying to do a Greek fusion restaurant unsuccessfully. His meat preparation on grilling and baking are very good but his flavor profile need an adjustment. Good luck.

My boyfriend and I came her for lunch on a Saturday! We were quickly seated and given menus. We wanted to try a little bit of everything so we ordered a Zeus Platter as an appetizer! It was so delicious! The pita bread was hot, soft, and fresh! The dips that came with the platter were also very tasty. As an entrée we ordered the gyro. I would definitely recommend coming here if you are looking for some good Mediterranean food in west Texas!

Great little Greek food spot! Finally found this place after driving around the big strip center, Hint: Go in the Castleford Rd. entrance. I came here around 4 on a Saturday. Just in time to try the lunch menu. I saw seated promptly and had my drink order and menu in under a minute. This spot is a little more formal than I expected from the pictures but still casual enough to wear a t-shirt during lunch, maybe not during the evening time. It has a bar area that I expect is busier during the evening because I saw a 51% sign relating to CHL permits that means they get more than 51% of their revenue from alcohol. It was quiet when I visited though. For an appetizer, I got the server recommended Spanakopita. It was very good. The creamy spinach filling was tasty and the flaky exterior topped it all off. The tzatziki dip went very well with it. I got the lamb Souvlaki plate for my main entrée. The lamb was cooked well. Medium rare to medium range. It has good char but a little more while maintaining that same level of a pink/red center would be nice. It was served over a bed of rice pilaf. The rice was average. Could use less water in the mix and more lemon flavors. It also has a couple pieces of pita bread with that wonderful tzatziki dip. I choose to get the fries as one of my fries. I was disappointed to see they were just your standard frozen fries. They could really improve by making them true Greek fries with feta and other seasonings. I declined dessert but that have a wonderful, authentic Greek menu. My server and service overall were pretty good. This place is better than average but not quite 5-stars. However, I will be coming back to further try out the menu and satisfy my Greek cravings!

When it comes to Greek food(or any Mediterranean food really) in the areas there really are very slim pickings. Thankfully though these guys came into town and have a decent selection of items of some pretty typical Greek dishes and desserts. I am Greek myself and I have gone to this place twice; once at lunch and once at dinner, so I think I’m qualified enough to give an opinion about this place. First off the interior is well kept and looks nice. It’s a step up from casual but not incredibly so don’t feel bad coming in in a shirt and jeans for lunch, for example. Their hummus is very good and very garlic-y! If you dig garlic, great! I personally don’t care for it in my hummus but it’s very popular(personally I like no garlic, just red peppers please). Their pita bread is very nice too: always came out warm and fluffy and tasty. Judging from other commenters I HAVE to say something about the salads and side items: nine times out of ten(yes, even in Greek/Mediterranean restaurants) Greek salads are not made properly… IMO anyway. A traditional salad, in my home, is tomatoes, cucumbers, olive oil, salt. Add feta or raw onions if you wish, or whole olives. THAT’S IT. None of that vinaigrette or lettuce nonsense! It drives me up a wall. The rice pilaf is acceptable, although it’s a recipe I’ve never tried, and their lemon potatoes are pretty authentic… much more lemon-y than my mom’s but not bad(beware that they also make a cold salad version with potatoes and other vegetables… I think it’s only during lunch they serve this and it’s not very good imo, too sour). Other traditional sides that are also authentic are the green beans, the tiropita and spanikopita. Try those if you can. The gyros were actually pretty good! The lamb was very tasty, their tzaziki is good, and once again the pita was nice and fluffy. They serve two per plate at dinner, one at lunch. They’re both very good sizes so you won’t go hungry. I tried their baklava and it wasn’t bad, just too much spice/cinnamon. It had plenty of walnuts and honey, and was a large portion, but they really need to lay off the spice or it’s just overbearing. Overall I’ll keep coming here. Their selection is pretty decent and they have actual lamb to serve, so I’m sold.

Visited for lunch and ordered the Hummus appetizer, which was very good. For the main meal I ordered the lamb gyros, which featured real chunks of lamb meat, and a side of Greek potato salad. Both were excellent. For dessert the baklava was wonderful. I look forward to my next visit.
