We needed an extended stay. We were promised one price by Beverley and then the credit card was charged another price. As far as I am concerned the place is bait and switch. Awful!

We have stayed here several times and know what to expect(which isn’t a whole let) but with 3 small kids and traveling all the way from California: we need a cheaper place that we know is safe. The place is old and slightly ran down but that isn’t even what makes me the most angry. We are currently in day 3 of our 7 day stay here. At 2am of our 1st night, the power went out(which we didnt find out until we woke up). We realized there was no power so my 6 year old son and I walked down to the front desk to figure out what was going on. There were a lot of people in the lobby but no one spoke to me and no one was at the front desk. We spend most of the morning not knowing what was going on as staff never bothered to inform their guests of anything. I had to leave to get my 3 kids breakfast, which I didn’t plan for. We had purchased food for our rooms refrigerator which had all spoiled.(There went $ 50). We had to spend all day out of the hotel since the pool was closed so I could entertain my kids(there went $ 200). The staff still never bothered to communicate anything but the power was now back on. The Garden Restaurant was open this morning so my kids did get to eat here. I had asked the gentleman at the front desk to have management contact me and I was told it would happen tomorrow which was not ok with me, so he said he would let his General Manager(Melissa) know. We also found that the pool would be down for a few days. I finally got a phone call from the GM. She apologized for the inconvenience but really didn’t take any responsibility. She offered to comp one night only because even though the pool is shut down, the hot tub is working. Really? My kids are 6, 10, and 11: that is not fun, they want to swim. She told me I can find another place to stay. I am in awe on the callous and cold demeanor of a General Manager. Telling a guest you are sorry without trying some way to really accommodate them is not helpful. I now will need to find a new hotel, which will cost me so much more than I anticipated on paying. We stay a few times a year, we spend a lot of money here when we do stay, eating at least 2 meals a day for 4 – 6 people and Midland Resort does not seem to care. We were the only guests in the entire restaurant and I haven’t seen another guest today but the GM is willing to lose more revenue by losing another repeat customer. The power outage may have been an unforeseen crisis for the hotel but all of the staff had a nice home to go to while we are 3500 miles from ours. So lets talk about who was really inconvenienced by this crisis?

Not overly impressed but clean for the most part. I’m sure 20 years ago it was a 4 star review. Price for the room bought on priceline was fair. I’d be upset if I had to pay more than $ 50 or so a night here.
