If you’ve got a hankering for some good old food mom and dad probably made you as a kid in nj, Andys is the place. Very informal yet sweet. It reminds me of stopping in a friend’s house for coffee.

This place is terrible and really dirty. I ordered chicken tenders for lunch. The owner/cook/host opens up a freezer behind the counter and pulls out a bag of frozen tenders and puts them in the microwave. I told him, «on second thought I will go with a cheeseburger». I was told«no it’s too late». Are you kidding me?! I told him never mind I will go to Wendy’s and get better food for a third of the price. In front of the whole place he tells me to «go f&$k yourself!» How this clown stays in business is beyond me. Avoid this roach motel at all costs.

Warm and welcoming atmosphere, great food — my girlfriend and I have made this a frequent stop for breakfast and a nice conversation with Andy.

went here for breakfast with my brother in law cop. terrific little place. Coffee was fresh and good. super service. i had the eggs, sausage, homefries with rye toast. I wolfed it down in seconds. My bro in law had oatmeal with brown sugar and taylor ham and egg sandwich. Cuz he’s a cop they put his initials in brown sugar on top of the oatmeal. How cool is that? love the family atmosphere. Unbelievably tight little booths but it’s cool. we sat next to a woman with her three little kids. i reached over the short divider between booths with my fork and asked the cute little girl, who had a delicious looking plate full of silver dollar pancakes — «you’re not gonna eat all those are you?» Where else can you do that? I figured if i scared the girl and mom called the cops, i could say, hey the cops are right here. Go back in time and have a great meal at Andy’s. I have no idea if prices are reasonable since my brother in law picked up the tab.

Although Andy’s Community Lunch is a conveniently located, somewhat cozy breakfast/brunch/lunch spot with very hospitable wait staff, there were several disappointing aspects. First, portions were very small and everything was served a la carte(usually at a diner an omelette comes with hash browns/home fries and toast) so if you have a big appetite, be prepared to pay for several«meals» like I did(pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs). Secondly, the bacon seemed like that which you would find at hospital cafeteria(very thin, and crumbled when you picked it up), and the fresh squeezed orange juice tasted like it was the Minute Maid from concentrate mixed with water. Finally, the french fries came out looking unusually dark, and they tasted dried out, which made me think that the oil in the deep fryer may have been in need of changing. Andy’s does serve good coffee, and the four small blueberry pancakes I had were very tasty, however, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone who is very hungry and looking for a satisfying and filling Saturday morning or afternoon meal.

Portions were small and in my opinion over priced for what you were getting(eggs and potatoes) service was not great.

Andy’s Community Lunch is a TERRIFIC place to go for true, grassroots homemade food. It’s EXTREMELY small and easy to miss on Godwin, but keep an eye for it before the Friendly’s. It’s got about 15 tables(diner style), and they’re all close together, but the quality of food and prices make up for that BYFAR. It comes off as almost a mom-and-pop sort of place in design and service. My girlfriend and I got pancakes here for breakfast last weekend. She had blueberry and i got the chocolate chip variety, and they were both OUTSTANDING. There were 4 small flaps, and they were delicious. Hot, smooth, great syrup, and the morsels were baked in FLAWLESSLY. Both meals, some GREATOJ, and a coffee for me lady came out to about $ 18. It was a great meal, served by some great staff. I’m extremely glad my girlfriend told me about this place, and I informed the owners I’d give them my Unilocal love and HOPE they get some more face time! Go to Andy’s. Now.
