Horrible customer service. not one of the three floor reps greeted me nor asked to assist me. One girl was putting her eyebrows back on clearly too busy to help customers. another rep was cleaning a piece of jewelry that belonged to her boyfriend. full conversations about this was being held at the cash register. the lady barely gave me eye contact. I couldn’t believe how unprofessional they all were… I’m pissed that I went through with my sale.

I would like to give this store 5stars I really would because I love Sephora products and that they carry Nars products. Here are my concerns with this store in Middletown NY– 1) They are a tiny store so they almost always are out of stock of much of their products. Mainly ones I use. Figures. 2) almost all of the staff is rude. Except for this short blonde girl who was super friendly. Upon checking me out because well«gotta make that quota». 3) I tested out the staff and their approach time. I was in this store for 40mins & not one of the 4 reps asked me if I needed help. I didn’t even get a «welcome to sephora» greeting. 4) My best friend is a photographer for a major magazine & I’m always picking up makeup for her. Whether I’m returning or just purchasing makeup. But one time this rep saw me & smirked and said«ugh she’s here again». 5) Makeup testers would be nice if they were placed in their appropriate little slots. I’d love to try this product but omg«surprise– there’s no sample». 6) the reps need to focus on their customers instead of doing their makeup in the mirror talking about what they are going to wear to the club after work. 7) when I was cashing out the rep didn’t even ask if I had a Sephora rewards card or even ask me to apply for one. Even though I have one & it would have been nice to get points. She was done checking me out before I could tell her. Please have the staff at this store work on their attitudes & work demeanor. Sadly Ulta has been getting more of my $$$ lately.

My mother and I went to this Sephora today to buy a few new beauty supplies. I’ve never had a problem with any other Sephora; however, our experience today has changed our view of JCP and Sephora and makes us never want to come back. When we got up to the counter, we were immediately greeted with an extremely unpleasant cashier, Dana. I have never been so offended in my life at her attitude and outright rudeness. She gave my mother the total, my mother swiped her card, and out of confusion asked«oh, did I swipe it correctly?». Dana nastily responded, «How about you give it a minute, okay?». When my mother asked her if she had done something to deserve the awful attitude that was being directed at her, Dana simply continued to degrade her with her nasty looks and attitude. I had to walk away out of anger just from looking at my mother’s hurt facial expression. My mother was devastated about the experience, which makes me never want to return to a JCP/Sephora if they allow their employees to treat their customers that way for absolutely no reason. Disgusting. So if you happen to pop into Sephora, feel free to give«Dana» the biggest attitude you can for me and my mother :) Or just avoid this Sephora at all costs for your own sanity!!!

I went to Sephora @ JCPenny looking for Makeup Forever camouflage concealer. The tall lady pointed out the makeup line at the bottom, said that’s what we have. Never caring to see if I needed to test out the product or even make sure I would be happy with the product. She showed no interest. I was looking for synthetic eyebrow brushes. She showed me the corner and walked away. So I left! I called Makeup Forever, on 12th st in NYC. I spoke to Will, he was pleasant and very interested in my concern for a under eye concealer. I drove to the city and received the best service. Even Ulta shows more enthusiasm.

I don’t want this to be a reflection on Sephora as a whole as I really like Sephora, this is more about this Sephora Inside JC Penney at the Galleria at Crystal Run in Middletown, NY. A few weeks ago when Sephora had their promotion of 20% off for VIBs, I happened to be in the Middletown area and decided to stop in to get a few things. I had never been to a Sephora within a JC Penney so I wasn’t sure if they took their coupons or etc. As soon as I walked in the first thing I asked the girl greeting everyone was do you take the VIB20% coupon here. She asked what’s a VIB. I knew I was in trouble and should have just left. I said its Sephora’s program where you earn points and they are having a promotion. She went and got someone else and they confirmed they definitely will take the coupon and they operate just like any other Sephora. One of the items that was on my list was the Naked2 palette by Urban Decay. I didn’t see it in the Urban Decay section, but I know its frequently sold out or they have it in the back. I decide to ask someone. The person I asked told me that Naked2 isn’t made by Urban Decay its made by Too Faced. I said heh? For those makeup lovers like me I was like wait what? I know for a fact its made by Urban Decay. I even went on my phone to show her, she continued to tell me that its made by too faced. I started looking at something else and she came over with the«naked eye» palette by too faced and insisted that this was what I was talking about. I know what the naked2 palette looks like, I know it exists, I know Sephora carries it. I told her thanks but no thanks as I’ll just order it online. The whole staff at this store seemed less than knowledgeable and enthusiastic about makeup. I mean I love makeup and I love talking to the people who work at Sephora because we share a similar love. The people working at this store seemed to care less about their jobs and the products sephora sells. The other thing you should be aware of is the product selections are a bit different than at a regular sephora. Sometimes they have products that say for Sephora inside JC Penney. They look cheaper than products normally sold at regular sephoras. I finally had picked out the items I went to purchase brought them to the counter, handed the cashier my VIB card, coupon and products I was going to buy. After she rings up everything, she then tells me she can’t accept the VIB Coupon. I almost wanted to scream. It was the first thing I asked. I saw the girl that told me they would accept it and flagged her over. She was like oh well I thought we would. Sorry. ARGH! Don’t waste your time going into this store. I’ve never been a fan of JC Penney because of their crappy service and their crappy product, I guess Sephora inside JC Penney is pretty much the same thing.
