Cowpoke Cafe

The Cowpoke is a classic Middletown restaurant with a great atmosphere and great food with awesome prices.

Stopped here during a road trip with my mom from OC, CA to Forks, WA. The service and food were both excellent! I got the chicken fried steak and it was tender and delicious… and sooo much food! Would definitely return if I’m ever in the area!

This place. Where does one start to list the inadequacy? Parking is horrible, my uncle went to Vietnam in the 1970’s, he says there was better parking on the first day over there than there is here at cowpoke. It’s really that bad. The wait staff is what you would expect from a town populated with «Cowboys». In their off time, I imagine them in short denim cut offs, looking for the tallest truck… There must be a breakdown of communication between either myself and my wait (er, res?) or between him (her?) and the illegal in the kitchen, because the food (?) I was given was not what I ordered. It was decent food, albeit cold due to the wait. It must have been gossip hour while I was in there because the wait staff was lined up like chickens on a roost aT the bar gossiping about whatever is interesting to gossip about in this deliverance style town.
I imagine if I was 75 years old, drove a Mercedes from the 1990’s and had voted republican my entire life, this place would have some appeal. But honestly, avoid this place, it’s kind of a dump

Been going here for years, and the service has gotten worse and worse! But today, the food was really horrible! Fries tasted like they had been refridgerated and then put in a microwave to heat them back up. My granddaughter’s Chicken Salad was unedible and it smelled so bad she had to eat ½ her sister’s burger! They never came back to give us drink refills, never came back to ask if all was ok, in fact I had to hunt down the other waitress for salad dressing because our original waitress was sitting 2 tables down on her cell, listening with earbuds. She would only get up once in a while and pass us up ignoring our table! Unbelievable that they would pay this girl to sit around most of the hour we were there, while the other one had to do everything! It’s just gone downhill, very sad. Used to love the place. I am going to contact the owner (Mike Browning) if I can. People, beware.

time I was here was around 2008 and I will definitely say this at the food is really good really fresh its affordable the people that work there are very fantastic nice caring and if you want some good whole some comfort food I definitely recommend you guys checking this place out

This place is getting worse and worse on service. On the most recent visit we sat down and was brought or drinks. Sat for twenty minutes before we had to get up and get the waitress just to put in our order. Waited another hour just to get our food.
Food arrived and the order was not correct sides were put on wrong plates and one order was not brought out. The one not brought out was only a salad.
I have been eating at couple for over a decade but this place is getting to be unbearable.
I’ll give this place one last chance and if it’s the same horrible service out will be my last visit

Stopped here for lunch 12:30 on a Monday. Didn’t get our food for an hour. 2:00 we are finally leaving. Don’t waste your time.

The eggs taste like they are steamed and they are super thin when they are scrambled. I never get scrambled eggs here for this reason, always over medium. I have gotten their cookie scramble quite a bit as I love potatoes and veggies and eggs… sometimes I love it but other times it has that steamy taste also… I’ll go back but not for a while. It’s also quite noisy w ridiculous tv noise… there back patio is pretty awesome though and service is generally good.

Great breakfast! One of the hardest working staffs in Middletown! and I am SO happy the 1 star people won’t be coming back because they are ruining all the chairs because of the sticks up their asses.

What a terrific place — came in on a Sunday morning for the #shopvalleyfire challenge and almost all the seats were full. Still, service was efficient and the food was terrific.
I split their corned beef hash with my wife, who ordered an omelet special. The home made corned beef hash so rules over canned dog food which so many restaurants think is passable. Apparently the meat here is all locally grown too.
The omelet special was a taco omelet which was also terrific — taco-​seasoned ground beef on top with a really good sauce and beans inside the omelet.
I will absolutely be back here — the experience and food were both top shelf. So much food I might see if I can get a wheelbarrow at nearby Hardester’s to get me back on the road.

Never waited so long for food in my life… and I am old. Ingredients seem decent enough but I am afraid to go back and sit there that long again.

I am in town for a few months to help out with the disaster relief assistance! I have tried nearly everywhere in town and this place is tied for first place for my favorite place to eat at lunch time! It’s always packed with patrons when i come here and i know exactly why! The chef cooks everything to perfection!
With that said, wait times for food can be a little longer than average, but it has always been well worth the wait! I always get the Steak and eggs! It’s my go to dish! However everyone in town recommends the «Garbage» (everything but the kitchen sink!) and the «Cookie scramble? Hmmmm. I may have to try that next time! I’m always so satisfied with their steak, I have a hard time venturing out!
This place has plenty of seating as well and outdoor seating too! Not to mention a very cool bathroom! I like the bathroom closest to the back patio! Very cool Sink! (see pictures)
If your in town, this is a must try!

I got t check out this cute little joint with my husband this past weekend! I loved the vibe in this place and the décor was adorable! Next time I’d like to eat outside since it looked so inviting. They had a lot of seating out there and a water fountain in the center.
I ordered the garbage omelet. It was good but I was expecting a larger variety of things to be in it since it’s only description was everything but the kitchen sink. I had no idea what to expect and it had only ham as the meat and then grilled onions, mushrooms and bell peppers. Don’t get me wrong it was delcicious, huge and packed with the things it did have in it. I was just expecting smaller amounts of more things like maybe some sausage some bacon and some avacado. That would ha e been delicious too! I normally love country potatoes but these weren’t crunchy like I like them so next time I will get hashbrowns. My sourdough toast had great flavor.
My husband had his favorite meal… steak and eggs! He liked his a lot. His steak was cooked how he asked and his harsh browns looked crunchy, crispy and amazing (another reason I want to try them next) his eggs were great and his wheat toast was huge! 4 giant halves!
We look forward to going back with our son, he loves pancakes, waffles and French toast with lots of fresh fruit ontop and they offer all of those so I’m sure he we try one.

You guys are the absolute bomb and your service rocks. Nice looking inside, relaxing and the food is bombtastical. I frequently go out of my way (I live a few towns over) to have you guys. Team Cowpoke!

Terrible service will not come back! Never! I will not recommend it. It takes forever for them to serve lack of staff! It takes an hour for them to deliver your food … Two thumbs down … Unhappy customer.,

I am always impressed with this place, I stop in any time I pass through Middletown. The waitress with long curly hair that has been there a long time is always super friendly and attentive, I’ve never had another waitress here. I typically get corned beef and hash with extra crispy hash browns, as that is my favorite dish. I think they do it very well, its not right out of a can. The prices are good and the servings generous. I always order breakfast, even at lunch time.
I even went here on our way back from Idaho, and it happened to be the Middletown parade or festival, they where very busy but we still got good food and service.
I remember another occasion there was a man outside asking for money to buy food, and they invited him in, gave him a coffee and some hash browns and pancakes on the house. I thought that was a very nice thing to do.

Food was good– service was pretty bad. 2^nd visit here and I’ve got to say the waitresses are not friendly at all. They treated me and everyone who came in like we were annoying to them. It would be nice if they engaged with their customers even just a little bit.
There wasn’t event a smile. Still giving them 5 stars, because the food is so good & good price. Maybe the waitress was just having a bad day. I understand having to be at work while going through a hard time in my personal life. It’s hard & I have sympathy for her. I gave her a $ 3 tip on a $ 10 bill! Stayed an hour after I paid and still no thank you or any engagement.
I will give them 1 more try & if service is still bad I will have to take my business else where.
