Been going here since I was a kid. I now children here for pumpkin, strawberry and apple picking. We love visiting the store and buying some of there different items you don’t find in a normal grocery store. Their pies are my favorite. The apple crumb comes the closest to the one my grandma made.

Lyman orchards offers such a range of fun activities for all ages throughout the year. From pick your own to sunflower/corn mazes, to winter fun fests complete with ice sculpting and snow tubing. Their pond outside the apple barrel is always full of ducks you can feed. Their Apple glaze on their grilled chicken sandwhich is to die for. The weekends can get crazy, aim for a week day to visit. Pick your own is always a favorite and they always have a ton to pick from. An easy recommend for something to do with the family or friend !

My last visit was just OK, and I wasn’t happy with a long wait for the deli and decided I owed them another visit to see if it was just an off day. Well it was a much better experience this time. Fresh bread and a tasty sandwich enjoyed outside was very nice. Weekdays offer a lighter crowd and as winter gets close things get slow until the holiday rush on baked goods.

Lyman is a Connecticut institution, for good reason. It has everything you need for a fun fall day. At Lyman you can pick apples, pears, pumpkins, and other tasty produce depending on the season. The crops are clearly labeled and the staff is always happy to answer questions. There are also other activities for kids, such as hayrides, horse rides, and games. The food shop is excellent too. You can get produce picked fresh and baked goods. Their apple cider donuts are the best in the area, which is saying something. Finally, if you want lunch while you’re at Lyman there are good options. There’s a sandwich counter in the store, and a barbecue stand that has brisket and pork. Overall, Lyman is a must-visit during the fall.

So I’m new to Connecticut and I went on Unilocal to look for something«fall’y» to do with my girlfriend on a Sunday. This place had awesome reviews and wasn’t too far away so we decided to give it a try. I must say the orchard set up was a little confusing for someone who had never been here before, however, once we figured it out we had a lot of fun. This place is pretty hilly so get ready to climb a little bit. Also, if it’s rained recently I would recommend boots. The store was pretty wild, but you should expect that this time of year. Employees were very nice and attentive and the cider donuts were delicious.

We go every year & always enjoy ourselves. It can be a bit overwhelming, specifically inside The Apple Barrel. Long lines and dodging children running everywhere. We always pick a pumpkin or two, they can be a little pricey. Always, always grab apple cider, kettle corn & a dozen apple cider donuts– the best! We typically aren’t there too long, as it seems there aren’t a lot of options for adults. We did do the corn maze one year, which was fun… But not thrilling enough to want to do it again. The majority of the entertainment seems to be directed towards children.

I love everything about Lyman’s orchard. The views alone are worth a drive! Lyman’s has so much to offer, the corn and sunflower mazes, pick your own, the fresh apple cider, donuts. Even better they have sandwiches! You can buy them and bring them outside to eat. It’s a little hectic because it’s so busy, it can get super crowded. The orchard and the store. But the lines move fast and everything is so cute and fun that it is totally worth it!

It’s the«trendy» thing to do: pick your own fruit(PYOF). I fell into the trap and decided to google local farms near the Hartford area. Lyman Orchards was actually recommended to me by a local. So I decided to go for a visit. I’ve got to say that my experience here was phenomenal. The only problem I experienced was not bringing a legit basket to hold all my fruit! The fruit was so fresh. I couldn’t believe how good it could get. They make supermarket fruit look like rubbish. Oh man, maybe I shouldn’t have gone here! In addition, the staff are very informative and eager to help you find your way around the farms. Just make sure you wear the proper shoes because you will be trekking! Sadly, I didn’t get a chance to try their cinnamon donut holes or apple juice(I hear both of those are superb.) However, I came home with bags and bags of Asian pears, juicy peaches, Bosch pears, and macintosh apples! Only ~$ 13 in total for about 8−10lbs of fruit, um HOWCANYOUBEATTHAT?!

This review is directed toward Lyman Orchard’s Deli. After waiting one hour for food, the workers couldn’t get the order right. Had to correct them three times. Granted, it was a busy day, but they are not organized or prepared to handle large crowds. The workers seemed overwhelmed and under staffed. An hour wait just for a line of 12 – 14 People/families is unacceptable. I know this is a farm, and part of its charm is a «laid back» atmosphere, but a bad lunch experience ruins the entire outing. Our family was prepared to try the corn maze and horse rides, but after lunch, we just ended up leaving. Paid over $ 30 for two sandwiches, a personal pizza and three drinks. The service did not justify the prices.

Oh Lyman’s how I love you. Let me count the ways I love your twisty and windy roads that take you up and around your huge property where each turn leads you surprise after surprise I love that I can come here any time during the Spring, Summer and Fall and be able to pick blueberries, peaches, necterines, pears, apples and pumpkins. I love that you have become a yearly tradition for my husband and I. Fall is not complete without a trip to Lyman’s to pick«the perfect apple» I love that there is nothing better picking your fruit, paying for it and then being able to have some of the freshest produce ever to touch your lips. Fruit right off the branch — yes please! I love the views of the Connecticut country side I get when I come to Lyman’s. I love that they have been able to expand their business into some great agro-tourism for families of all ages I love that even if I did not want to pick my own fruit(although that is quite silly) I can head over to the farm store stocked with not only fruit but local produce, food stuffs AND apple cider donuts. I love Lyman Orchard — it’s as simple as that!
