Super tasty! The Otter Creek is a small shop that serves great deserts and lunch. Yes, it’s on the small side(which only adds to my attraction to this place), so you’ll want to avoid the busy times of the day. I’m a huge Reuben fan, so I ordered the Reuben melt – might be one of the best that I’ve had. We also had an incredible blue cheese-, walnut-, and pear-filled pastry shell(incredible), and perfectly fine(not outstanding) hot chocolate and cappuccino. New or limited-time menu items are advertised(seemingly) at random on the walls behind the counter so read the whole wall before ordering.

Otter Creek Bakery is a family owned café that sells caffeinated beverages, bottled fruit juices, sandwiches and paninis, salads, and baked goods. They have a variety of fruit tarts and cookies. My family ordered two coffees and a chai latte. After ordering my chai latte, I saw a sign advertising a Maple Apple Cider Latte topped with a maple meringue kiss so I asked if I could change my drink order and pay the difference. Since they were making the chai latte, the young lady at the counter had an attitude problem and didn’t want us to change our order. The drink wasn’t advertised on their barista menu but rather up high behind the counter. Th Maple Apple Cider Latte tastes like coffee to me — there was no apple cider flavoring. Since it was too early for dinner, we ordered a few cookies — Maple Raspberry Jam Cookie, Maple Butter Cookie, and Chocolate Butter Cookie, all of which were delicious. My favorite was the Maple Raspberry Jam Cookie, which resembled a thumbprint cookie. I loved how this butter cookie filled with maple syrup infused raspberry jam. I liked how the butter cookies had a hint of orange zest.

Far and away the best place to eat in Middlebury, or anywhere near Middlebury. Extremely friendly staff who go out of their way to make sure you’re happy with your food. You can hang out there for a while and feel very welcomed. And the food… they only use top quality ingredients — many of them from local sources — which results in food full of true flavor. I could stand in front of their bakery display for an hour, just admiring their offerings. Whatever I get, for breakfast — ham and cheddar croissant or their daily breakfast pizza, or for lunch — the melt special or panini, I make sure I leave with one or two orange pecan chocolate chip cookies, for«later.»
