My kids had a terrible time! There was one campfire the 1st night, then no more the whole week. Get that? NOCAMPFIRES at CAMP. I paid extra for horseback riding for my daughter and paintball for my son– they gave my son both activities and my daughter nothing. She was SO disappointed– she was looking forward to horseback riding all summer. I called and left a message to find out why, but no one would call me back. The kids didn’t come home with a single craft project that they made, but they did come home with ticks! And we got a phone call saying a girl in my daughter’s cabin had lice so we needed to wash all her stuff in extra hot water and check her head. My son also came home with bruises on his body because they did not provide padding when he did the paintball. The parent handbook says NOMONEY or FOOD allowed– we sent the kids up on the bus which is a 5 – 6 hour ride. If I hadn’t snuck my son a $ 20 for emergencies, they wouldn’t have had lunch when the bus stopped at McDonald’s. He had to buy lunch for them and a couple of other kids who didn’t have any money. The counselor’s didn’t buy those kids lunch! Parents have the option to charge a credit account to the«camp store» so the kids can buy stuff without having to use cash. The list in the brochure says«stuffed animals, flashlights, water bottles», etc. My daughter said the store«sucked» and didn’t have anything she wanted to buy — no stuffed animals– so she came home with a Camp McConnell t-shirt, adult size XXXL(she’s 8). In desperation, I finally asked my son, «Well did you at least make any friends you’d like to keep in contact with»? He said«NO! You should have heard the profanity, Mom. Every other word was the „F“ word.» Worst. Camp. EVER.
