Best pizza in Gainesville! The Greek pizza is my favorite! Love the atmosphere of the Micanopy location!

Awesome little eatery. We had the most amazing buffalo chicken Pizza. Staff are very friendly and we were served promptly. Highly recommended if you’re passing by.

VERYDISAPPOINTED! We came to the Micanopy location today. 30 minutes after ordering and waiting for our food I over hear the waitress talking to the cook… Our food ticket never got to the cook. 30 minutes you see us sitting there and don’t inquire sooner? THEN I talk to the blonde female manager who said she’s comp our ticket… Then only takes off $ 2.80 from the ticket. REALLY??? You make a customer sit and wait and only take off $ 2.80 when you said you’d comp the ticket? Lying to customers to appease them temporarily doesn’t win them over Blondie! We WON’T be back! BTW, it’s not like we changed our order or anything, they completely dropped the ball.

Service was incredibly slow, which would have been okay if they served fountain drinks — but once my can of Diet Coke was gone, the 40 minute wait seemed v e r y long. One of our table had a marvelous pizza with mushrooms, and I enjoyed my bite. For myself, however, I ordered a small salad with a scoop of tuna salad. Came to over $ 9 for a wee bit of lettuce and the most taste-free tuna I could imagine. On the whole, what was good about the place was that they let us sit(and sit, and sit), so we tipped very well for taking up the table. .. The service, when you could get it, was warm and friendly enough. But the food. .. Not up to «meh.» And oh yes, the restrooms — you go outside(I had some trepidation that they might actually be taking me to a privy — not to worry). Then you find it, and yes, it is a real restroom, and it looks like it may have been cleaned around Labor Day. This was Sunday, so perhaps they’d just had a busy Saturday night and hadn’t got to the cleaning yet. Who knows? One thing for sure — if we do get back that way again and need to eat at Blue Highway, I’ll be ordering that fungi pizza.

Food is ok but nothing to brag about. Service is slow. This was not horrible but I would not recommend it.

Horrible service, again. 4 of the last 6 times I’ve gone here I have been dissatisfied with the service. When we called to pick up and asked to have it ready at a specific time and were told it would be, we waited 15 minutes. Took a group from work another time– 2 tables that ordered 7 lunches at the same time. 5 lunches came. Today I sat at the bar to get a take out order. One server took an order to a table, one folded pizza boxes, another picked lint or hair off her shirt. I checked out the little flip-menu, watched some tv, looked around-I waited at least 5 minutes and absolutely no one acknowledged me. I have kept going back previously despite the poor service to support a local business, but maybe with 3 locations now they’ve gotten too big to need my business anymore.

Great food. Very fresh. Greek pizza, thin crust was awesome. Shrimp bruschetta was a little soggy but good. Pizza overall very very good. Busy and service was a little slow but worth the wait.

Out of the world good. They delivered 13 pizzas to our camping club at Paynes Prairie state park. They were wonderful, hot and fresh. Could not ask for any better service and quality.

Traveling south down US441 from Gainesville to the historic town of Micanopy, Florida, there is a small family neighborhood casual restaurant for Italian-American food and famous for it’s pizza. I had the 12″ Thin Crust Carne Combo which was excellent. In addition to great pizzas(in Thin Crust and Sicilian styles) Blue Highway offers a Gluten-Free Crust alternative, a selection of Calzones, salads, etc. Best to go during the off hours, between lunch and dinner times, to avoid long waits for a table. If you are lucky to be at table 4, looking over the entire pizzeria, one might start to notice a live version of the movie«Mystic Pizza» going on.

Does not look like much from the outside but you must stop here for the pizza and salads. The ingredients are so fresh and good quality and the staff are super friendly. Only drawback is not enough tables for a very busy pizza joint so get there very early like 5 or so. Go to spot when my wife and I are in historic Micanopy.

Went to one of my favorite restaurants with friends yesterday. Service was so slow it took 2 hours to get our food. No one told us there was even a problem and when ask about it I was told they don’t discount their food. Blue Highway Pizza will not be getting any more of my money. Very disappointed. I always love taking my friends there. It is a shame that the manager in Micanopy would not do any thing to remedy this. SC

I like Blue Highway, and with a few small improvements I could love them. They have qualities that I value most in a business; they love and care about their employees and their customers. They also make a concerted effort to use local, fresh, and sometimes organic produce, but they are not doggish or super righteous about it. I love those sensibilities. I am not going to bore you with a whole bunch of praise — there is a lot to praise with Blue Highway — because I want to get into my suggestions for Blue Highway and I have been told my reviews are too long. UGH! Blue highway makes a pretty good pizza, but not a great pizza. Pizza is as different, unique and diverse as the people who make pizza, and opinions about what makes a good pizza is just as diverse. The weak spot of their pizza is the crust. It is white flour, bland, tasteless crust. It is also too dense. The only good thing I can say about he crust is that it is not over salted, a condition I come across often. What I would like to see is more thought and care put into the crust to increase the crust flavor without increasing the salt. Yeast and the care and handling of the yeast are — in my opinion — the best way to improve this pizza. Blue Highway has a great shop, full of love and caring, and the natural yeast there will be happy, loving yeast, that will make a wonderful«Starter Mother» to flavor and aerate the crust and lift this pizza from pretty good to great. The same is true for the Panini’s. The bread is too hard and dense and lacks flavor. And then you press and crust it and it becomes a mouth roof ripping, tearing, wrecking machine. Time and Yeast are your friends; let them in. Speaking of time, one problem I have going to Blue Highway is time. From the campus, or Shands, or anywhere on our side to the prairie, it is a beautiful but long hike to Blue Highway. If you are on the clock for lunch, and you have driven from South Gainesville, the food needs to come up pretty fast so that you do not get the dirty«you went to Blue Highway» smirk again from your boss when you get back. One more little nit to pic. You will not be loopy when you get back to work after Blue Highway. They do not pour a generous drink for the price. I usually get the mimosa for 5 dollars and ask them to just add a few drops of OJ. This results in a half a glass of wine and a poor value. So I like Blue Highway a lot, it borders on love. It is not perfect, but I go there when I have a little extra time and I need to stay sharp in the afternoon.

Delicious pizza, salads and more. In the season there is usually a wait so do take out if you can. Definitely a must do in the Micanopy, FL area.

Cute shack off the side of the road, use your GPS so you don’t blink and miss it. Some reviews claim it’s the best pizza around, maybe it is. I don’t live here so I can’t confirm or deny that. I will say it’s decent. I will also say it is under seasoned. I had both the gluten free pizza and a regular meat and cheese slice. I also shared a salad, nothing to write home about. However, the service was impeccable. Wonderful entertaining and attentive service.

I know there’s a nearby pizza joint that locals swear by(another name for a bag, ahem…), but Blue Highway is tops in my opinion. The wait can be long during the typical rush hour for restaurants, but that’s to be expected. Ingredients are often sourced locally and ALWAYS fresh, prices are reasonable, portions are huge, and the staff couldn’t be friendlier. Did I mention the pizza card? I’ve lost track of how many freebies I’ve received… lol. They’ve opened two additional locations within the last few years, but the original Micanopy store — though incredibly tiny — is still the best. Interior ambiance has improved over the years, but takeout/outside seating is still my preferred option.

Went with a group of about 10 people — very small dining area, but very busy. We shared several pizzas and other items — they where out out the gluten free pizza dough at 6:30PM — wines where a bit pricey, but beer was fairly priced. Service was fast, but of course they are cooking the pizzas so it takes a while. They use a lot of olives and nice colors on their pizzas — the make a thin and a thick crust pizza and have sandwiches as well.

We have lived in Gainesville forever, and driven past this place many a times. My husband suggested we finally try this place out and I didnt hesistate to say YES! It was around 3 on a wednesday, place had a few other patrons. Inside its quiet, dark, and the booth was comfortable. Jessica was our superb waitress. We asked how big the salads are since we usually share a small at our other pizza place, and she indicated that the small was really not for sharing. We ordered a large Micanopy Salad(7.50) Which is a big salad with mixed greens, carrots, grape tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions. All the dressings are house made and we chose the balsamic Vinaigrette. The salad was really fresh, and the dressing was very yummy. Next time we will try the Lemon Vinaigrette for sure. I am a sucker for house made dressins! We wanted to try a pizza, and as soon as I saw the description for their Vongole pizza… I was done. Vongole– Garlic Butter, Cedar Key Clams, Capers, Roasted Garlic, Parmesean, Romano, and Parsley.(13.50) only comes in the thin crust which is what we wanted anyway. The other option is a sicilian style which are thick crust pan pizzas.(next time!) The Pie came out and it was a golden crusty amazingness topped with tons of(still in the shell) clams, garlic, capers… Perfectly cooked all crispy. The clams were tender, and salty and so fresh. We polished off the whole thing. It was delicious! We will go back, cause we want to try everything now. The service was outstanding, the ambiance is chill, and to just take a nice drive out of town to still eat local is what we love to do.

VIBE: Small roadside beer and pizza joint in small cinder block building in Micanopy along 441. Have about 6 bars tools at bar and table seating. Very popular with locals and those who come from Ocala to eat here. I have stopped here when needing a break along I-75. Not far, use your GPS to get there. ORDERTHE: Pizza and beer.

Found this diamond pizza joint 5+ years ago. Joke is it’s the best pizza between Gainesville and Ocala in the middle of no where Micanopy. The place is small. Service always good. But the pizza is excellent !! This is worth a trip out of town to try them. Satchels rates a 3 while Blue Highway a 5.
