They usually are great… Service is usually superb… However new owner, terrible service, long and they didn’t have certain pastries and they didn’t have any bread at all!!! I hope they can get back to what they were because it was pretty good before!

I forgot that I had gone to this bakery before today and I hated it the first time. This morning was no different! Their are way too many Cuban bakeries in Miami for you to have a bad pastelito. I got the usual suspects, because that’s all they have. I got carne, queso, guayaba y queso and croquetas. They don’t have ham, coconut or chicken like most bakeries do. They keep it simple and one would assume if you only have like 5 types of savory and sweet pastries they should be great. They were NOT, as a matter of fact, I would say this is the worst bakery I have been to in awhile. Not to mention the attitude of the lady serving me. Hopefully I’ll remember that I have now gone 2 times and I hated them both times. I shall not return!

Thank goodness for this place! We were a fan of Vicky bakery but having since moved, it was not very close to my house and voila, they opened one near my place! I was so excited especially since I received a coupon in the mail that my first purchase I would receive 20% off. I purchased Cuban bread, croquetas, tequenos, empanada de pollo, and that yummy pastry that has cream cheese on the inside.(totally forgot the name at the moment) Everything was great! Cuban bread was so soft and the croquetas were one of the best I’ve tried. Tequenos took it home for me because they put so much cheese in them! The empanadas they gave it to me Colombian style and even though I’m not usually a fan, they made me a believer. Oh and those yummy pastry things with cream cheese– delish!

Bread might seem simple and harmless but the truth is that it’s loaded in carbs and calories. Many of us have developed a dependency on our daily bread. I’d heard years ago of Ila Bakery and their Puerto Rican pan sobao but upon pulling into the parking lot it was Vicky Bakery in front or me. I stepped in because what’s the worst that can happen at a bakery? When I asked about pan sobao I was told that even though they’d bought the bakery they had kept the recipe. Score. I went on to order all sorts of goodies pastelitos, pasteles, empanadas, orejas de elefantes, and of course pan Cubano y pan sobao. This is the latest location for the local Vicky Bakery chain which has been sweetening lives for 37 years.
